Kielder Water & Forest Park, Hexham, NE48 1BS
View Full Details of Calvert KielderHe enjoys the activities and food. He enjoys the company of all the staff. This facility allows for my brother to have an independent holiday in a safe, exciting environment.
My week spent there for respite was very good. Loved every minute of my stay there and can't wait to go again. The food was delicious and healthy. All staff were very caring and obviously enjoyed their jobs which makes all the difference to how you feel, you don't feel a nuisance and have time for you. All in all, wonderful.
An absolute gem of a place for disabled holidays. Everyone meets your needs with a smile. Marvellous time spent.
My parents have been delighted with the staff who are caring, attentive and friendly. They have gone out of their way to make them as comfortable as possible. The chefs create the most amazing food, specifically the salads which are fresh and varied. They are delighted with the production of such delicious fare when the setting is so remote.
I really enjoyed my week. Met some lovely people. Can't wait to go back again. Thank you to everyone who helped me have the best holiday.
Staff are exceptional: attentive, committed, flexible, caring, approachable, in general, the best staff I have experienced. Facilities are very good indeed. A recent refurb has improved things no end (not that it was shabby before). Excellent, comfortable equipment in excellent condition. The food is excellent. The whole place is so welcoming. It's so refreshing, and I really look forward to coming back every time I can. I've been coming 20 years, I've stayed in tens of other care environments, and can honestly say this is the best environment in which I've stayed - thanks to the phenomenal dedication of the staff. Please don't stop or change.
Out of this World, will be back again in the near future. I feel there should be more things to do at night.
I really enjoyed my holiday. I liked the activities and they were challenging but fun and I was pleased I could do them. I liked to meet new people and the staff were very friendly. I want to come again.
Breakfast is a bit too early and getting up that early in the morning. A few more activities to the castle, town and walks around the waterside needed. I prefer rooms with wooden beds as I bumped my right leg. Everything else was 10/10.
Our group of 8 visually impaired and 3 sighted volunteers had an accessible and inclusive activity weekend with a good choice of activities and enthusiastic organisers. Everyone was able to push themselves beyond their boundaries and achieve things they had not imagined. The presence of the bar enabled fun social evenings.
My daughter thoroughly enjoys Calvert Kielder having been there 18 times now. A friend has also sent his son there a couple of times. The staff are brilliant and extremely caring. We know our daughter will be cared for and we have no need to worry as she is in safe hands. She is already booked in for 2020. The food is excellent, the rooms comfortable. Brilliant place.
I really enjoyed my week. I always want to return and do almost every year. I love themed weeks more. I will try and lose weight for next year, thinking about go wild week.
Care is second to none, routines of care given by the staff are fantastic. Non-stop fun and laughter. Amazing food where all diets can be catered for. Activities where the disabled can have so much fun. Even people commented on how the staff were with the guests. Cannot wait to go back in 2020.
The provider is wonderful, the provider caters for every single need/aspiration, whether it is night or day. It is absolutely wonderful, activities are wonderful; walking sailing/canoeing and motor cruising, it is absolutely wonderful. It is wonderful to be there and when it is time to depart I don’t want to come home.
I like coming to Calvert Trust Kielder on respite as my holiday. I enjoyed the activities there like swimming rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing, zip wire canoeing high ropes low ropes bushcraft, but I don't like orienteering, geocaching walking. I would like to try zip coaster and kayaking also sailing the new activities in Calvert Trust Kielder I have made new friends from different areas.
Amazing staff. Wide range of activities. Centre always clean and tidy. Home away from home.
I had a really good week. Good activities and meals, good quizzes at night, listened to some good music. Looking forward to going again.
I have had a wonderful time at Calvert Trust Kielder, this is my seventh visit here. The care staff are very respectful and supportive and they encourage me to try new things. I have not had much contact with the activity staff this stay, but they are supportive too. One of the chefs could be more accommodating for people's dietary needs and offer more choice, but the main one is excellent.
The building was good and the rooms were comfortable. The staff were good at their job. I liked the flying fox, the swing and climbing frame. The pool is too small and I like to swim. My other forgot to pack my trunks. Evening entertainment was good. The chef cooked me special meals and they were good. I liked the sponge cake he baked as I don't often get cake.
As a 71-year-old with M.S and with a new diagnosis of cancer, I was very unsure of finding or entering into respite. Why did I worry? There was absolutely no need. The welcome was to set the tone of absolute delight for the whole of the stay. The whole staffing team were friendly, helpful and a joy to be with. No problem was too much and easily overcome. The activities mind-blowing, if you want to do a challenge they are ready to assist and achieve...can you do it? Yes, you can! with the support so freely given. I came away having achieved so much, eaten so well and with a newness of purpose.
