View Full Details of Willowbrook HouseMy Brother was discharged to Willowbrook House after 6 months in hospital at the start of the pandemic - I was, therefore, unable to visit him for a considerable time. He has mental health issues and I was concerned how he would settle in. I spoke to the staff and my brother regularly and once I was able to visit, under strict COVID guidelines, I was firstly impressed by the care and attention he received, he obviously loved it there. Secondly, I was really impressed with the home as a whole, there was no nasty smells normally associated with care homes and the place was spotless and well presented. All the staff are friendly and go out of their way to help. They have a wonderful well kept garden and a team of dedicated activities coordinators to keep them stimulated. I can't praise all the staff enough.
From our initial enquiries to the moment mum entered the home following a hospital discharge, we have been welcomed by friendly, professional, knowledgeable and caring staff at all times. Although mum has advanced Alzheimer’s and is now wheelchair-bound, she has a much-improved quality of life. She has settled so well, responds to her carers and nurses, with a smile and feels reassured by the genuine kind and exemplary care she receives both day and night. Dad also in his 80s, visits daily and although not a resident, is also cared for while there and always made welcome. The home is bright, modern, smells fresh. All the residents are showered regularly and kept clean and well-groomed. The day rooms and gardens are beautiful. Regular and varied activities are organised by an energetic dedicated duo to entertain residents and visitors. Management and nurses always on hand and vigilant.
In 18 months mum has been at home, there has been constant upgrading eg designated coffee room with coffee machine for residents and family get-togethers, major repairing of the quadrangle to improve accessibility for residents going outside in the sun and bedroom refurbished. All staff are friendly and create a welcoming atmosphere for residents and visitors - they have done their best to create a homely environment. Mum's sisters often say that if they need to go into a home, let it be Willowbrook.
My mother has been a resident at Willowbrook House for the last four and a half years. The care she receives is exemplary. The building is clean and fresh, the reception is welcoming. The carers are always friendly to me and caring and compassionate towards my mother. I feel as though we are amongst friends when we visit, and that Mum is a personal friend of the carers and nurses, as well as a person in need of dementia care.
I am very happy with the care my husband receives at Willowbrook. The staff are caring, attentive, kind and professional and my husband's needs are always met. The management are approachable, available and always willing to talk with me to address any concern I may have about my husband. The carers are outstanding and treat all residents with respect and huge understanding.
