As a family, we can't speak highly enough of Penpergwm House. Going right back to our initial visits to assess the home's suitability for our mother's residence, to present day living at the home. The whole process has been a seamless one for my mother, who has taken to living at Penpergm House, as well as could possibly have been expected. This is all we could wish for. My mother has a full life, a great circle of friends, and lots of stimulating tasks, events, and activities each and every day. She takes great pleasure in telling everyone about the virtues of the home. My mother can't say enough complimentary words about the attentive friendly staff and the great food that comes out of Penpergwm's kitchen. We see all of this, on our visits and love the relaxed friendly atmosphere of the home. For us, an afternoon in the gardens, or looking out on the gardens from her well-appointed room, knowing she is happy in the home is more than enough.
We as a family can't speak highly enough of Penpergwm. It was a difficult time moving our mother from home to Penpergwm and the help, encouragement and understanding the whole team gave us during this time was outstanding. Our mother has settled in so well and she is always telling us how wonderful the staff are, how comfortable it is there and how safe she feels. We are so lucky to have found somewhere that takes the job of looking after the residents so seriously, with such care and attention. The staff are amazing, always ready with a smile and always cheerful. It is a wonderful atmosphere. From the moment we first walked through the door we knew we had found the right place for her. The follow-up care for us as a family is something that we will always be grateful for. We always feel welcome when we visit and are encouraged to contact them at any time with any questions we may have. Thank you to everyone at Penpergwm. You have changed everything for the family, and all for the good.
I've been given a lot of help moving into a new room to make me comfortable and to suit my needs. My vegetarian and fish diet is very well provided for. I am a dialysis patient and the house accommodates me with an early lunch before driving to dialysis and after providing supper later than the starting time. All the staff are extremely helpful, supportive and friendly. There are the most beautiful rural views surrounding the house - excellent in so many ways.
From the very first impressions when my sister and I visited Penpergwm House, the home really stood out from all the others we saw. Then, while Mum was on the waiting list, the admin and management personnel were invariably pleasant and supportive. Now that Mum is a resident, we've been constantly impressed and pleased. Attention to detail and professionalism are evident, every single member of staff knows their stuff and says hello, and it's obvious that everyone works as part of a happy team. Nothing is too much trouble, no one is above doing anything they can to help, and it gives us enormous peace of mind to know that we've made the right choice for Mum and that she's being extremely well cared for. She tells us every day that all of the staff are wonderful, that the food is excellent, and that she is always made to feel at ease. Excellent service deserves recognition and we are looking forward to our ongoing involvement with Penpergwm.
Wow, what a wonderful care home Penpergwm is and what wonderful people they are who work there. My Mum was resident for 7 months and she was looked after so well and with such care and commitment to her happiness and well-being. I have nothing negative to say about Penpergwm, I only have praise and gratitude for every aspect of Mum's care while she was resident. Unfortunately, Mum has had to move to another care home - no fault of Penpergwm - because she now needs additional nursing care that is beyond the capacity of Penpergwm. Even though Mum left 2 months ago, Penpergwm have gone above and beyond to continue their support for her transition to an appropriate care home. I will always be grateful for all they did for my Mum and their support for me and the family. Thank you Penpergwm.
The team at Penpergwm are fantastic. Mum enjoys every day, with activities, great food and wonderful care and comfort. Mum loves it at the home and they take such wonderful care of her. I would not hesitate to recommend.
At the grand old age of 100 years and 9 months dear Dad could no longer care for himself at home and Penpergwm House was his choice of where he’d like to live. He couldn’t have chosen a better place. He was welcomed into the “Penpergwm family” with kindness and incredible warmth and understanding that the transition from one’s own home and all its familiarity is not an easy one especially with a fiercely independent man. Dad celebrated his 101st birthday with the most beautiful afternoon tea to which his family and friends were invited. The cake was worthy of a first-prize win in any cake-baking/decorating competition as it truly represented Dad. I would like to write much more but space is limited. Thank you to each and every member of staff for the patience and genuine care they provide to the precious people who have the good fortune to live at Pempergwm House. And thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love and support you gave to me when Dad passed away.
The decision to seek residential care for a parent or loved one has to be one of the most difficult decisions of your life. The choice of home is key to any decision made. Our entire family is completely content that the decision to use Penpergwm House could not have been better. The standard of care, support and accommodation is absolutely 5 star. Could not recommend more highly
I cannot speak highly enough of Penpergwm House, its staff and management. The caring environment is exemplified in every aspect of the care home’s practices. The kindness, respect, dignity and care afforded to our mother from every single team member has been outstanding. The personalisation of her care plan has been exceptional with every aspect of her personality, likes, dislikes, etc catered for in a very person centred way. There was also an extraordinary welcome given to us as a family, helping us every step of the way in supporting our mother to settle and become part of the ‘Penpergwm family’ created so skilfully by the staff. We will forever be in their debt for the wonderful life our mother was given in their care.
So happy we were told about Penpergwm House. At a low ebb, where it was increasingly obvious that Mum needed more care, we made the decision to move her 160 miles from her home on the south coast to be closer to us in Monmouthshire. And what a great decision it's turned out to be: from the initial assessment that was made with close attention to Mum's dignity and where she 'met' everyone in the garden room via video call, to her first few weeks where she has been so wonderfully cared for in the transition from living alone to living in a community, the care at Penpergwm House has been exemplary. Mum is happier now than she has been for a long time; she lost her husband of 55 years back in 2016 and has always suffered from loneliness and loss. Here she is surrounded by a growing number of residents who she is beginning to regard as new friends, and attentive staff who always have smiles on their faces, which can only be a testament to high-quality management. And the food - amazing!
We should like to express our heartfelt thanks for all that the wonderful staff at Penpergwm House Care Home have done for Mum and the family over the past seven years, through thick and thin, Covid, family bereavement and Mum's increasing dementia. They have all been so caring and understanding each and every day and night. They have looked after Mum with such care and professionalism and treated her with the utmost respect. She has been looked after as "one of the family" and for all of this we, the family, cannot praise them enough.
What an amazing place that is always full of love and laughter. When I’m in need of care my husband and I would love to be here. Thank you for the love you show. I’m a private carer in Hampshire and travel up to see a client. He is very happy here.
Mam has been a resident since October 2022, it was a very upsetting time when the decision was made for Mam to go into a home, but Penpergwm House has been brilliant. The management and staff have been excellent and fully understanding of our concerns, it has been such a relief knowing that Mam is safe and fully cared for. She loves her room the food and the staff. The activities are brilliant and keep her included and well-occupied. Due to her dementia, things were a little confusing for her, but the staff ensured the transition to moving into a new home was as smooth as possible. We as relatives are always welcomed at the home and encouraged to visit whenever and join in the activities with Mam, even having lunch with her. We are very pleased we were able to get Mam a place at Penpergwm House and as a family would highly recommend the home as being exceptionally caring and professional.
Mum has been a resident for over a year at Penpergwm House. She constantly tells me how safe and well looked after she is, as well as how wonderful the food and staff are. It has a light feeling, the staff are a joy, the gardens are wonderful and l am so happy we found this wonderful care home for her. The level of care is excellent, diversity of activities and trips keeps the stimulation going. Knowing she is safe and happy in the home is everything. Thank you so much to all at Penpergwm!
Such a friendly and welcoming environment where the staff genuinely care about the residents and always treat them with dignity and affection. I can't speak more highly of Penpergwym - a very dedicated team who communicates exceptionally well with myself and my sister about the welfare of my mother. Whenever there is a health concern we get a call updating us on the situation and what is being done. My mother is very happy there and in safe hands.
We have been blessed in finding the right care for Nanny. From the initial visit to the final decision, the staff, clerical as well as carers, chefs and caretakers have made us feel so welcome. Nothing is too much trouble and we enjoy visiting and having tea and homemade cakes. The team are well organised and very efficient. For someone quiet and introverted, Nanny has blossomed, and although initially due to her dementia, it was a confusing time for her, she has been gently helped in processing the move. She highly praises everyone for their kindness, including the other residents that have made her feel welcome. We have been amazed and thrilled that she has been joining in with activities and she loves the trips out, even if she can't initially remember where she has been. Particularly helpful for us are the photos of the activities that have taken place so we can check up on what she's been up to! Great visual memories to talk about with her. Thank you to you all!
My father attends the Day Care Service twice weekly and absolutely loves attending. I find the staff are always friendly and helpful. Dad even gets an all-singing, all-dancing bath there once a week which he looks forward to every week as he only has a disabled shower at home. He had attended for a number of years prior to covid, unfortunately, due to restrictions has not been able to attend since March 2020. Since then, his mental health had deteriorated, not helped due to the lack of stimulation that he used to get in Penpergwm. Thankfully in July this year, Dad was able to start back to the Day Service again. Since then, his spirits have been uplifted, his mobility has improved and his overall well-being has gone to higher strengths. He is doing amazingly well - this is definitely a result of returning to the Day Care Service. He loves the engagement of the staff and all the activities that they provide, he also loves the good food that he is given, whilst there.
Due to my mum's rapid deterioration and with the care sector in such dire straits, living at home with me became untenable. I was forced into taking the dreaded decision of finding Mum a home. We are extremely lucky to have been told about Penpergwm House which from the day Mum visited for the first time, she has been shown nothing less than utmost respect, care and love. A huge shout out to key carers who for me, the initial letting go of Mum, was terribly traumatic, worrying that she would be cared for like when she was home, have shown immense compassion, care and understanding and who are available at any time, offering advice and support to myself but especially to Mum. This same care and compassion is extended by all the staff. Penpergwm House, it is a privilege knowing that Mum is in the hands of a wonderful team. You truly are one big family embracing each and every resident.
Penpergwm House has been caring for my mother for over two and a half years. During that time, which of course included the Pandemic, her care has been outstanding in every respect. The home is run by a very dedicated team who make the relatives always feel welcome and valued and every little problem is always dealt with very quickly and professionally. My mother was out for tea with me the other day and told her friends “I love coming out with the family but it is always nice when I am taken back home to Penpergwm “- I don’t think you could have any more praise than this, it says it all.
