View Full Details of Plas y Garn Care HomeMy mother has been in Plas y Garn for about 16 months and she is very well cared for there. She is happier than she has been for several years and gets on very well with all the staff, and other residents. I am always made to feel welcome when I visit, usually twice a week. Keep up the good work.
My father was placed at Plas y Garn earlier this year. It is fair to say that he did not want to go into a care facility. He has been supported with empathy and care to adjust to his new environment and is receiving excellent ongoing care from the staff at Plas y Garn. He eats well from a varied menu, and his daily needs are all being met. The staff are friendly and courteous, and the family have been kept informed of his general well-being, any issues are brought to our attention promptly and solved with a minimum of fuss. It is a relief that he is in a safe, supportive, and caring environment and we are very happy with the care he is being given by everyone at Plas y Garn.
My uncle has been at Plas y Garn for the last six months, he has settled well with the help of staff and management, he is well cared for, they have got to know his likes and dislikes, he always tells us he's happy, we find the staff very friendly and approachable on our visits, the home is lovely and clean, and my uncle is always offered a choice at meal times. Thank you for all that you do.
We are very happy with the care received by my mother-in-law. She enjoys the artist, bingo and activities on offer. The staff are kind and caring which puts our minds at rest that she is well cared for and safe. The food is also lovely with a choice every day.
Mum moved to Plas Y Garn in May, she had a hard time settling in due to illness and several hospital stays. During this period both management and the care staff went out of their way to help and keep the family informed at every stage. It is now September and Mum has settled down very well, she loves the NODFA music, bingo and coffee mornings, these are just a few of the things arranged by staff, there is something going on morning and afternoon seven days a week. I cannot say enough positive things about the home and its staff, it is such a relief to know Mum is well looked after and we will be informed straight away of any issues she might be having.
Mam has been a resident since March 2023. some issues we have are dealt with immediately but the majority take a long time and are sometimes never resolved eg items missing from the room. Staffing is a big issue, always lots of agency staff who are not consistent. Residents downstairs always seem to come second compared to the residents upstairs. We feel just because downstairs they have dementia etc they should not be treated differently. Management seems to be an issue, we thought this would change when a new manager was appointed.
The communication between the home and the public during the recent bout of Covid was shocking, no regular updates unless prompted by someone asking. My grandmother's clothes and possessions are still going missing from her private room. For the amount of money being paid for her care, surely the staff should be able to keep track of other residents in and out of her room, on a few occasions when I've visited the staff have been sat down watching TV instead of looking after the interests of the residents. Also upstairs seems to have regular working staff whilst downstairs there always seems to be different agency staff working.
Shortly after a member of our church was admitted to the home we were invited to go in to take a regular monthly service. We have been doing this for some time, on the last Thursday of every month. Residents who wish to attend are encouraged to come, and there is a good level of support during the time that we are there. It has been useful to build relationships with residents from both units, which come together for the service. We always feel welcome and are given time to chat with residents when the service has concluded. This seems to be a well-run home. It has a welcoming attitude and values external input. The activities programme is full and varied. Residents who wish to come out to attend their own church are encouraged to do so.
I am very happy with the standard of care Mum is receiving at Plas-y-Garn, she has settled in well in the 3 months she has been there and it is evident when visiting she is always treated with dignity and respect from all the team.
My mum has been in Plas-Y-Garn for over 4 months now, she has received excellent care and support, the staff have treated Mum with kindness and dignity. The home is safe, warm and really clean. I am very happy with my mum's care. Thank you.
My mum has been at Plas y Garn for 5 years and my overall experience of PYG has been exemplary. My mum is very happy and content here and the staff are excellent at what they do and sometimes under extreme pressure. The entertainment that is put on is excellent and residents and family enjoy themselves.
The lady concerned is being very well looked after at Plas y Garn. Always clean, nicely dressed, hair brushed, slippers on, snug and secure. Always smells nice (much better than when she was home). The food is excellent and plenty of it. Plas y Garn never smells of wee which so many care homes don't achieve. Her health is being monitored and sorted out.
My experience of Plas y Garn has been a poor experience. My relative has been there for a number of months. During this time I have visited regularly and noticed the way that some of the staff treat residents and the cleanliness of the home. During one visit I was confronted with a staff member's dog, I waited at the front door for over 10 minutes and witnessed the mess left behind by residents and carers in the communal facilities for other residents to use. Upon my latest visit, my relative asked to use the toilet. I took them, only to see the way in which the toilet had been left. There was urine on the floor, seat and still in the bowl. There was also faeces left around the back of the bowl. This visit was on a Monday. Whilst I appreciate that cleaners are not in the home on a weekend I feel that residents who are paying for a service should be treated with more respect and dignity. This care home has some good points but a lot of bad points that I have witnessed.
Absolutely shocking. Staff seem to have very little or no knowledge of the needs and requirements of residents, the building is very poorly equipped with nowhere near enough staff. Although the staff are all friendly, the owners of this facility charge an extortionate amount per week for care they clearly cannot provide. This home needs to be investigated as the residents clearly are not getting the care they need.
My mother came to live at Plas y Garn in May 2022. The care and kindness of the staff have helped her to settle well. The encouragement provided has helped improve her mobility and also her appetite.
My husband and I were unable to continue caring for my mother in our home due to her advancing Parkinson’s and related dementia. I felt apprehensive about her going into a home however the standards of the home were excellent. The most important thing for me is the care, kindness and patience shown to my mother by every staff member I have witnessed. I feel the team at Plas y Garn Care Home see their roles not just as a job but as a vocation. I have no hesitation recommending this home to anyone who wants to make sure their loved one is taken care of as if they are part of a loving family.
We (the family) were very pleased with the care that she received throughout her stay. Covid obviously caused great problems. We were reassured that although visits were restricted, the care she received was unaffected by the virus.
My mum was a resident at Plas y Garn for about three months and was treated with the utmost respect and dignity and the staff went over and above to provide the best care that they could. The standard of care was excellent and she was treated like a family member and came to think of Plas y Garn as her home. She was so happy there which gave me great pleasure and the reassurance of knowing that she was safe and being well looked after. I will always be grateful to them and sing their praises and highly recommend them.
From an initial visit to view Plas-y-Garn whereupon I was met by wonderful caring staff, I felt the reassurance that this special place could meet the individual needs and safety measures required for my dear mum. A few weeks have passed mum is settled enjoying the company of others, and the delicious home-cooked meals. All this is provided within a warm, friendly atmosphere. I am comforted by the ongoing care received. Heartfelt thanks to all concerned.
I recommend this home because my mother was here previously and she was well looked after.
