The staff are wonderful, compassionate and very caring to my mother. They are also very accommodating and friendly to us as a family. We cannot praise the home enough. My mother absolutely loves them all, she enjoys the food and takes part in all the fantastic entertainment which they offer. Gold stars all around!
I can't praise the staff here enough. Rooms are clean, warm and comfortable. My father is so well cared for and I get updates all the time with staff knowing me and my father so well. Nothing is too much trouble. The staff are always happy and smiling and always on hand for whatever reason. The staff are patient and have such a good understanding of dementia and how it affects the patient as well as the family. I can't recommend St Nicholas House enough.
We’ve been very pleased with the care Mum received at St Nicholas, the staff are thoughtful, and the atmosphere is calm and warm. When Mum is poorly, the nurse is very responsive, and communication with the care staff is excellent. The activities are fantastic, and the home is well-organised. The activity staff, as well as the manager, deputy and receptionist, have been amazing at helping to settle in Mum and welcoming in family members and visitors; we’re all very grateful.
Mum moved into St Nicholas House in November following a long spell in the hospital where she was very unwell. Since moving to St Nicholas House, she has been made to feel so welcome, and the staff are all so lovely. Mum's mental health has improved, and following wonderful care, her bed sores have either cleared up or got a lot smaller. Mum really enjoys the food and having her hair done by a visiting hairdresser each week. The activities coordinator is wonderful and painted Mum's nails as part of a pamper morning; Mum has never had her nails painted, ever! Activities take place every day. Mum doesn't always want to get out of bed, but the staff are good at trying to encourage her to get out. I can't fault St Nicholas House or the care my mum receives.
Mum has lived at St Nicholas for nine months now, and we are extremely grateful and thankful for the very high standard of care that happens for the great majority of the time. The care, environment, food and general well-being of the residents are first-class. In particular, the activities staff are just fab - something on offer nearly every day of the week. We feel very strongly that our views and wishes are listened to. The manager does a very good job of leading her team. It is s compliment to the staff that they attend many of the resident's activities during their own time. The best care home in our locality.
Mum’s room is so lovely. We took all her pictures and photos she had at home to make it familiar to her. She’s made friends with a lot of the people in the home. The carers are lovely to her and she’s always clean and tidy. Although she’s only able to use one hand, she likes watching the activities. The manager is very friendly.
Excellent and friendly staff - spacious, warm, clean environment, nice garden available for visits in the summer with lovely views and garden furniture - lunch served in the garden for residents when they have a visitor - lovely food.
Since Nan moved to St Nicholas House, she has been warmly welcomed by all the staff, care, nursing and admin staff. Nan has been assisted to join in the large variety of activities. Everything is excellent to me. Mum is very happy and enjoys going down to watch activities, loves her room and loves all the staff. Mum loves having her hair done every week, and loves seeing family and all the family dogs.
I was made to feel very welcome by the friendly manager and staff. My mum-in-law now participates in the activities, having fun and enjoying the company of others. I want to say a very big thank you to all the staff who work extremely hard to maintain her quality of life. I am grateful to all.
The staff at St Nicholas House are patient, kind and empathetic, and all that we would hope for as they care for our precious Mum.
I am very pleased with the home.
My mother has been in St Nicholas House since April 2019. Being the eldest of four sons and as a family together, it was hard considering how independent our mother has always been. We can honestly say that Mum could not have been anywhere very than "St Nicholas", given the circumstances. Management, staff and facilities have been first class. During the Covid restrictions, the staff have been like family to Mum, and as a family, we owe all staff at "St Nicholas" a debt of gratitude.
My father is loved and very well cared for. He is always shaven, and his nails and hair are kept neat and tidy. He always looks happy when he sees any of the carers. We are informed immediately if there are any health concerns. Visiting is easy and pleasurable, especially in the garden in the summer.
Very good care. Very friendly service.
My mother was resident in this lovely house for two and a half years. She initially didn’t want to go, but from when she arrived, she was made to feel welcome by all. She was treated with respect, and her dignity was maintained at all times. Everything from the laundry service, the delicious food, reception, care and activities were of a high standard. Sadly my mother recently died at the home. During this time, the family were treated with the utmost compassion and respect.
Clean and homely. Friendly and approachable staff. Mum is very happy and content and she joins in some of the activities. She calls St Nicholas House 'home'. Mum is unable to eat.
All the staff are highly dedicated and caring. I have always found them to be polite and helpful, always keeping us informed of both physical and mental issues with regard to my father. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming and I know that my father is extremely well cared for at St Nicholas House. He is in good and safe hands and that is paramount for relatives. Although my father cannot participate, the activities offered are excellent.
