View Full Details of Spa Residential HomeOur Mother became a resident in 2020, and from the very first day she has been treated with dignity and care and over the years we have seen Mother's health and well being improve due to this care. She was a popular resident with the team as they would always spend time talking to her and also sharing laughs and never ignoring her, in fact they encouraged her to talk and engage. Whenever we visited, we were welcomed with big smiles and always kept informed on her health, well being and any changes. Sadly our dear Mother passed away on Monday 27th January in her bed, warm and cosy with a member of the team by her side and not in a hospital wired to a machine, we will always be grateful for this. We were informed her health was deteriorating so we were able to attend in the days leading to her passing and spend time with her, which was so valuable. We would like to thank each and every one for their commitment to our Mother, you are all stars. Many thanks
I am the cousin-in-law of the person being reviewed. I hold power of attorney for financial and health matters. My wife held the power of attorney until she died earlier this year. As the second (reserve) power of attorney, I now handle the person's affairs. I am writing about Spa Residential Home in Llandrindod Wells, Powys. Firstly, they took my cousin-in-law on credit for two months as I arranged transfer of power of attorney and then bank affairs. The latter was what took the time. Spa Residential Home never quibbled about the delay in payment. I think this speaks volumes. Secondly, the x chart below summaries my views on the home, but would like to say that staff and management are really good - it's a cheerful place. It would have passed my last wife's test - there is no smell.
I have visited a number of care and nursing homes over the years. I visit the Spa Residential Home regularly to see my brother who is a resident in the home. I find the home to be very clean, tidy and fresh in 'smell'. I find the management and staff very friendly and they treat my brother as if he was a member of each of their families.
I am very pleased with the care my cousin receives at the Spa. I live a distance away and am reassured that she feels happy and safe here. The staff always take time with updates when I telephone. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff who often make my cousin something to eat at any time.
My aunt was resident in the Spa for over 5-years. She was previously in a different home for a brief period, but we moved her due to our concerns re poor standard of care. When my aunt arrived at the Spa, she was in a fragile state - physically and emotionally. She was very withdrawn, mute and had lost a lot of weight. From the outset, staff at the Spa showed her nothing but kindness and care. Gradually they built up her strength and her confidence until she felt safe and secure again - evidenced by her verbal interaction with staff and the re-emergence of her independent and somewhat feisty character! They supported her throughout her journey with Dementia, always working to allow her as much of the independence she craved, as was safe. In the final week of her life, her needs became very complex, and she required to be nursed in bed. The staff carried out these duties with diligence and genuine warmth and were with her when she passed away. I will always be indebted to the staff.
My husband and I have been visiting for the past 5 years and we both have to say that the staff are so friendly and patient. It really puts my mind to rest knowing mum is well looked after. The room she is staying in has a lovely view of the garden which she loves to look out of, she seems happy and content. The food is also wonderful, I've had a number of meals with mum and can say that the quality and portion sizes are great. Would gladly recommend this home.
My dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and his needs become too great for me to manage. He lived in Llandrindod Wells most of his life and didn't like living with myself in Aldershot - probably because of the noise. Of course, I was reluctant of sending him to a Care Home because he's my dad and you often hear stories of care homes. I think for his final two years, this was truly the best decision we could have made: he went to the Elan Valley with the activities person; had some good chats with all people around him; he enjoyed the food and gained 6kg to his underweight frame and the staff even sorted out up-to-date movies for him to watch. During his final days, he stopped eating and drinking because of the dementia, and the Spa sought so much intervention for him. Sadly it was his time to pass, and regretfully, I wasn't there when he did, but there were two of the staff with him when he did pass - he was never alone, and that meant everything to me.
This is in regards to the past three months since a dear friend moved to the home. There are regular outings and activities held within the home, keeping my friend active, we very much enjoy a game of chess every time I visit. He likes a drink of an evening and is ALLOWED a drink, previous home did not even allow alcohol on the premises. Staff are friendly and caring. He seems to have settled in very well to this home.
Very pleased with the standard of care at the Spa. The staff are very understanding of my mum and her progressed dementia, she has also gained weight in the recent months which is a bonus as she was dropping a lot of weight at the other residential homes. Great food and staff, would highly recommend.
A warm welcoming place where the staff are really caring. My close friend is so well looked after by them. The whole place is spotlessly clean and the food is excellent. I call there weekly. I and the family have no hesitation in recommending Spa Residential Home.
We were initially apprehensive about placing mum in a residential home - especially since all of the TV documentaries. However, she seems happy and content and absolutely loves the food and the staff. If we ever have any queries or concerns, we know we will be listened to. For the first time ever, I feel that Mum in her older age is secure.
I found the staff all very caring towards my uncle, which helped reassure me about this place as a home for him. The room he has is very spacious and pleasant and doesn't have that smell that some homes have. Overall I am pleased with the standard of the care that is offered.
