View Full Details of St Margaret's and Buccleuch Care CentresMum's mobility has been deteriorating over a couple of years but noticed a greater decline these last two to three months. Living at home was becoming harder as bedrooms were upstairs which was a chore in itself, and the toilet was on the ground floor. It got so bad that Mum needed to be admitted to a hospital and then a community hospital for her own safety until a place became available in care. After only three weeks a place became available in Buccleuch Care Home, which we accepted. The staff were really friendly and made her welcome. Mum has fitted in well.
My granny has recently moved into the service. The staff have gone above and beyond to help settle my granny and ensure that her care needs are met. The home is immaculate, and the facilities are very good. The management team are always on hand to support with any concerns - excellent care home. It is great to have such a brilliant place to ensure my granny's safety, giving the family peace of mind that she is being well looked after. Nothing but praise for everyone concerned.
Mum recently moved in, within 5 minutes of arriving the carers on duty came to her room to introduce themselves to Mum, which was lovely and welcoming for Mum. Everyone has gone out of their way to ensure Mum was settled and happy. Have nothing but praise for everyone.

The care my mother has received from St Margaret's has been second to none, my mother seems very happy and content. She has taken a real shine to a carer. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the building is clean, warm and fresh and the meals are excellent. My mother enjoys every meal.
My mother has moved into the home in the last few months, I imagine this is a difficult transition for any family but Mum seems to have settled in as well as she could have. I feel that the home management and staff have all tried very hard to settle her into her new home. I'm sure they could benefit from more staff numbers as they all seem to work very hard.
Lovely and friendly, homely, clean care home. The staff are very friendly, helpful and easy to talk to, they take great care of my dad, thoughtful of his needs and encourage him to keep mobile but are there on hand to help, he also enjoys the meals and is encouraged with liquids. All in all cannot fault this place.
My mum became a resident at Buccleuch at the start of June 2024 and settled in very quickly. The staff are fabulous and the home is a nice place to be. The social interaction with other residents has been very positive for Mum and she spends all day in the communal areas. The meals are very good and the residents are well-catered for at all times. The bedroom and en-suite facilities are comfortable. It's good to see that my mum's move to a residential home has been so positive at this stage of life and this has been helped by the positive nature of the staff and the help they provide as well as the facilities that the home offers.
Fantastic care home. My grandmother has been in Buccleuch for a number of years and is very happy with the care she receives every day, the staff are friendly and welcoming to all family members and look after granny like she is their granny which is lovely. Granny always has stories about the fun she has been having with staff and her friends. All staff go above and beyond for residents and families.
My mother is very comfortable in her home at the Buccleuch and has been for years. The staff know and take care of her extremely well and are always welcoming when I visit. The management and staff keep me informed and are always approachable and helpful if I have any concerns. I truly appreciate their hard work and feel lucky that my mother is so content in their care.
My Mother has been in care at the Buccleuch since March 2024. She has settled in very well. The staff have got to know her and the family very well. My mum likes her room very much. She is making new friends and always tells us when we visit that the staff are very nice. My mum takes part in a lot of the activities and really enjoys it. There always seems to be plenty going on to keep the residents busy and active. She also loves the meals and says the food is good. The staff are doing a great job looking after my mum.
Dad has been there for three months now, and we couldn't be happier with the care he is receiving. It was a big move for us at the time, but when visiting, we can see how happy and well looked after he is. He has dementia but always tells me how much he likes being where he is, he is eating much more now, and it's a great relief to know that after being on his own there are carers there full time making sure he is ok.
My uncle was very anxious about going into Buccleuch Care Home after being with his wife in their current home for over 60 years, having said that, the care staff and management have made him very welcome, and he's settled in very well. He joins in with activities daily and likes to sit out in the garden on sunny days. When my aunt and I visit, we are made very welcome by the staff who are all very friendly.
My dad )has been in care for over two years now, and he is well cared for by all the staff and has a cracking relationship with them. I can't thank all the staff enough for all they do for my dad, and on the occasions I have to ring up, they are ever so helpful. Once again, many thanks to all the staff, from my dad and I.
My mother has been in residential care for almost two years. The staff have got to know her and our family well over this period. They are fond of her, and in the early stages of her being in the home, we could tell she too bonded with the staff. She is now almost nonverbal and, along with her Alzheimer's, has little in the way of communicating. However, the staff still treat her with respect and dignity and chat away to her. As a family, we know she is very well cared for.
My mother-in-law has been in Buccleuch Care Centre for six months now, and the care she receives has been outstanding. Having previously been told by doctors that she was end-of-life and had no hope of recovery - the staff have completely brought her back to life! She has gained weight, looks well and healthy and has all of her needs met. Above all, the staff care for her like they are family and go above and beyond to make sure she is happy and comfortable. We are supported as a family to enjoy visiting and always kept informed of any changes to her care. Thank you to all the staff at Buccleuch.
I visited St Margaret’s with Mum prior to her becoming a resident and was very impressed with how we were welcomed and the professional friendliness we received. We were kept informed every step of the way and always felt we were treated with respect and care. Mum has settled in well, and I feel reassured that she is safe and well looked after. Mum says she enjoys her food and enjoys having company. It is so refreshing that it is often the manager who answers the phone and is able to tell me how Mum is getting on. Also, the staff call me with up-to-date information regarding Mum’s care. There is always a good atmosphere, and all the staff seem to work as a team. During visits, it is evident that Mum has been taking part in activities, and there always seem to be planned social events taking place. From care staff to cleaning and laundry staff St Margaret’s is 10/10 for being a home-from-home for Mum.
The manager and all her staff provide brilliant care with a homey feel. More like a big family in a big house than a care home. Nothing is a problem for carers. Can’t fault them at all. My mum was an end of life patent when she came in, and now put on nearly 3-stone, and very happy and settled. Well done, St Margaret's.
During these difficult times, the staff at the home have continually looked after our relatives with the best of care and have kept us informed of all developments. I cannot thank them enough for all that they have done.
The care my mum has had has been 2nd to none - the staff have kept her safe over the last 14-months. Her level of care has changed, and nothing is too much trouble for the staff; you only have to ask a question, and they will answer or find the answer for you. As many places, there are certain staff that will go the extra mile for my mum and treat her like one of theirs. Staff will go out of their way and help my mum regardless of how long it takes them. I would recommend the home to anyone looking to place their loved ones in a care setting.
