Dad moved into Barlochan House in January of this year and has settled in so well. All of the staff have made both him and us as a family feel welcome and supported from the moment I enquired about him moving in. The care he receives is excellent and it is a relief to know he is being well looked after. Thank you for all of your care and support.

Our father moved into Barlochan House Care Home eight weeks ago and has settled very well, thanks to the personal care and attention he receives from the friendly and efficient staff. Although Dad has dementia, he comments regularly on the lovely ambience of the home and is very complimentary of the delicious food which is prepared daily by the cooks and kitchen staff. Barlochan Care Home has a full and varied activities programme which Dad is happy to participate in or sit and observe. We feel Barlochan is a well-managed care home, there's always staff on hand to answer/discuss any questions we have regarding Dad's well-being. We are extremely thankful that Dad has been able to take up residence in this excellent care home and for the peace of mind that this brings us.

My mum has been a resident at Barlochan House Care Home for ten months now and seems very settled. She is well cared for, the staff are always friendly, welcoming and accommodating and the food is all freshly prepared. Her room is comfortable and bright; Mum often comments on the beautiful view, although she prefers to spend most of her time in the company of other residents as she has always been quite sociable. There are lots of activities on offer, from chair fitness, artwork, therapy pets visiting and musical events. As Mum is fairly mobile, she still enjoys the occasional day trip out too. As my mum has dementia she could no longer be safely left alone at home but Barlochan has given my brother and I have much peace of mind that she is well cared for in a safe and friendly environment and she enjoys the company.

My mum has been in Barlochan House Care Home for the past 10 months, and she is being very well cared for, the staff are excellent at their job which is peace of mind for me, it’s such a beautiful place with lovely gardens.

A great care home in beautiful surroundings, very friendly and kind staff. My grandmother moved up from England and everyone has helped settle her in so well! The management staff are extremely accommodating and knowledgeable.

My uncle is almost 94 and despite previously living alone and caring for himself, he has now spent a year, so far, at Barlochan House Care Home and is very comfortable and happy, the care is very good with friendly, caring and compassionate staff. He has mixed well with others at meal times but still likes to spend time by himself reading in his room.

My mother moved into Barlochan House Care Home in November 2023. I visited many of the care homes in Dumfries and Galloway and am so pleased that there was a room available at Barlochan. Mum has always been very independent and had been living alone for five years following the death of my father. She loved her garden, feeding and watching the birds and was determined to look after herself, refusing any visits by carers so I was extremely anxious to find the best possible care for her. Mum has settled in really well and always tells me that she is very comfortable, that she is well looked after and that the food is good. The meals are all freshly prepared and there is always a good selection of biscuits and cakes on offer. The home is very well managed, feels welcoming and homely, the staff are wonderful and the standard of care is exceptional. I cannot recommend Barlochan House highly enough.

From the minute my mum entered this care home, she was made to feel welcome. The staff are all friendly and available when needed. They accommodate my mum's requirements. They have made this difficult transition easy. My mum is very happy and well cared for.

My mum entered Barlochan House Care Home in November 2023 and has received exceptional care. The staff are friendly and approachable as well as being highly trained professionals. Mum's dementia has recently accelerated and after consultation with my brother and me, she has been moved into the special dementia wing. She is very happy there and well cared for. Her moods are accepted and I feel she is treated with respect. The home is always clean and welcoming and living 300 miles away, I find it very reassuring that she is settled and happy. My brother and other members of the family are more local and can visit more regularly and find the same level of satisfaction that I do. I also really appreciate the communication with the home and the regular newsletters with details of the variety of activities and entertainment that the home provides. I would certainly recommend Barlochan to anyone considering care for a loved one.

Our mum has been at Barlochan House since November 2022. She has recently been moved to the Memory (EMI) ward (2 months ago). We were hesitant to have her make the move (from another part of the home) but it has been the best thing that could have happened to her. The care is astonishingly good: loving, professional, knowledgeable, astute. The environment is cozy, clean, bright, and calm. Her room is also cozy, clean, and bright. Our mum, while she doesn’t really understand where she is, says she loves it there. The food is excellent and they cater to each individual's likes and dislikes. There is an enclosed outdoor space accessible from the ward and I can imagine when the weather improves, that our mum will be drawn to spend a lot of time out there. My sisters and I all live abroad and we can rest easy knowing our mum is so well and lovingly cared for. The five stars I have given are easily and well-earned.

My mum is so well cared for at Barlochan and is very settled there. The manager and staff are lovely, very attentive and professional yet down to earth, kind and empathetic. The home has a very calm and peaceful vibe and the residents look well cared for and content in their surroundings. Barlochan is immaculate and looks to be very well run. My husband and I can’t praise this home enough!

My mum and aunt were happy and well looked after here. This is the top carehome in this part of the world. Good accommodation, good food, good entertainment, good medical care, good garden and scenery. Staff always cheerful.

If you are reading this review you have chosen the most amazing home to enquire about. Barlochan is a very open and inclusive home, the care, attention and friendship which my mum received were wonderful. Every single member of staff works incredibly hard and to a very high standard. The food is amazing, the housekeeping and maintenance team keep the home spotlessly clean. The seniors and caring team are all incredible and are very special people who love their job and are dedicated to the residents what shines through is that the home is a very happy place to visit and work and is very well run. My wonderful Mum was treated with great respect and dignity and was made to feel such a part of the Barlochan family. The staff were always laughing and teething with her and had such affection for my Mum. I would not hesitate to recommend Barlochan take over the care of your loved one, it is managed and operated by a very kind and caring team of women and men. Thank you to you all.

I cannot speak highly enough of Barlochan House and its wonderful staff. My wife moved there in July, and the whole process was made as smooth and as simple as possible. At what is a difficult time for everyone, I was so grateful that the staff kindly took over much of the actual move and my wife was settled in quickly and quietly. The home is always very welcoming when I go to visit, and the staff are always helpful and kind. I am so grateful for everything that they do for my wife and, indeed, for me too. Thanks!

Barlochan is super in every way. Mum and Dad moved into a double room in October 2019. All of the staff are amazing. The food is excellent too. They have been as careful and as safe as physically possible regards Covid and still are. We very sadly lost Dad in March (natural causes, not to Covid). Thank you all for your great care of Dad and for your continuing great care of Mum.
