View Full Details of Belmont HouseAs our mum's dementia progressed and her mobility deteriorated, we decided to accept a place at Belmont House Care Home. The team of carers are friendly and kind and the environment homely. Her room is cosy with a view over the garden. The common room has large windows which let in a lot of light and it is surrounded by trees. Meals look delicious and the residents eat together in a small dining room with colourful pictures on the walls. The weekday afternoon activities are great, very varied, from music to arts and crafts or outings and the activities manager posts videos and photos regularly on social media.
I visit a service user with his wife and have always found they have been welcoming, friendly, clean and lovely. The service user is well cared for medically, physically and his mental health needs met. Very pleased with his care and do not worry about him at all. Good communication to his wife at all times too.
Great care home, takes good care of the residents and specialises in dementia care. Food is cooked on premises and is always tasty and appetising.
Excellent care given. Entertainment and activities are fantastic.
Always been pleasant. Staff are helpful and friendly.
My husband has been in Belmont House for five years now and I am very happy with his care. The staff and the manager are all very good with him. I could not ask for any better care.
My husband is well cared for, enjoys the food, and is stimulated by the cheerful, kind staff, and the regular activities available.
The care home is very professional and excellent care given, very friendly staff. Overall, great care home.
I have found the staff at Belmont very helpful, supportive and understanding. There has never been a time when I haven't found the staff to talk to or help with my parents. This care home is very much user-led and takes on board any comments and ideas given. Very happy with the whole setup.
Staff helpful and pleasant.
My family was involved in a serious car accident and my 87-year-old mum was badly injured. When she was released from the QE in Glasgow, we needed some enhanced care for her. We have large dogs and recovering from multiple fractures meant we wanted her to be in a safe environment until she was ready to come home. It is hard to express just how inviting, caring and friendly Belmont House is. The staff are so incredibly caring and thoughtful. Many of the clients are suffering from dementia and strokes, and although my mum has no cognitive issues, it's clear how lovingly the staff treat everyone. They really go the extra country mile to meet the needs of the clients. My mum was never lonely, never bored and had everything she wanted. She is going back for coffee mornings and the Xmas Party to visit new friends - staff and patients alike.
My father enjoys it and has settled nicely. He has been in for ten months and is being well looked after. The meals I have seen look amazing. The staff are very friendly and helpful; they never complain, and my dad's face lights up when they come into his room. Couldn't fault it.
My family had to make the heartbreaking decision to place my Mum in a care home. We chose Belmont House in Stranraer and what a blessing that has been. The staff go the extra mile to ensure that my Mum is happy, safe and healthy as possible. Over Covid they have been truly wonderful in keeping everybody safe while allowing our family to share everyday life, albeit over the phone. I cannot thank the staff enough and I would highly recommend Belmont as a home from home. Thank you so very much.
People say that "home is where the heart is"...well, Belmont Care Home in Stranraer certainly proves the point! When I go to visit my wife I feel, from the moment I enter (after a Covid test) an atmosphere of love and care for the residents. I'm astonished how happily the staff, even the very young ones, go about their duties. Well done and thanks to you all! Keep a room for me!
This is the second time my family member has been in Belmont for respite. This time it was to a different room, the manager ensured that she was orientated to the new room and how to get in touch with staff if needed. Although my family member had taken to reduced eating before admission, within minutes of arriving, she had agreed to homemade soup and sandwiches and ate it all whilst I unpacked her belongings. The staff all came to say hello and she felt as if she were on her holidays. She ate well, was cheery on the phone to family members, and talked fondly of what she had eaten and how nice the staff were. During her stay, she complained of heartburn for which she takes medication, but staff continuously offered her a glass of milk which she accepted and felt it took away the heartburn. When it was time for her to be collected, the staff came and said hello and she was really pleased that they took the effort to do that. Not only did she enjoy it but it helped the family also.
I have had a family member who was cared for within Belmont House and the care she received was fantastic. She however sadly passed, the staff and treatment made her life a success near the end and she was a very happy woman.
The staff are very helpful and my daughter is very well cared for.
The residents are cared for to a very high standard. They all have their own rooms with their personal belongings in them. The staff are very caring and attentive to each resident's needs. The staff treat the residents in a very caring, kind and affectionate manner. Family and friends are always welcome to visit. The management chat regularly to family/friends and always listen and deal with any concerns. I feel very confident and happy that my mum is getting the best care from Belmont House that she deserves.
Nice, friendly staff, helpful and considerate. Kitchen staff very accommodating to client's needs. Safe, pleasant surroundings. Private room with bathroom is very nice. Always a good level of cleanliness. Users treated with respect.
I am happy with my husbands care at Belmont House. As he can't talk due to a stroke I have to speak for him. Overall the carers are very good and he seems very settled. The cleaners are good but seem to be under pressure as there is a lot for them to do and there is only two of them for such a big place.
