View Full Details of Charnwood LodgeMy wife who suffers from Alzheimer's Disease has been resident in Charnwood Lodge for some five and a half years. In that time, she has received exemplary treatment from all the staff and she is always happy and contented. She is well fed, and always well dressed and kept neat and tidy with a weekly visit to the hairdresser on site. I visit her regularly and I cannot fault the management and staff who make me feel welcome and keep me fully informed of her health and condition.
All the staff have been excellent and kind in supporting my husband. Staff worked very hard at the Christmas party and it was an enjoyable day. I can't thank everyone enough. My husband has been there for 8 months and there has been no concerns, any worries were dealt with quickly.
I can only praise the staff at Charnwood for the care and attention my mother has received since becoming a resident in their care. It does appear at times that staffing levels are not what they should be but they work hard to provide a good standard of care at all times. I am aware that recruitment is an issue in most care homes. Attended the Christmas party which was a great success enjoyed by residents, families, friends and staff alike. Thank you for all the hard work that made it a memorable afternoon. Keep up the good work!
Me and my partner had a brill time with my mother in law and rest of residents and staff at their Christmas party. There was plenty of singing and dancing and we were made very welcome, was great atmosphere and plenty of laughing. The person singing was excellent and so was Santa.
My mum has been in Charnwood lodge for 5/6 years now and continues to be well looked after. Staff are always pleasant and welcoming when I visit and keep me informed of what mum has been getting up to.
With so many problems recruiting in care homes, Charnwood Lodge is no different. However, staff (from local management to auxiliary support) work hard to ensure residents receive excellent care. This year's Christmas party was a highlight and many staff who could have been off were there to support residents to enjoy themselves. Great afternoon of singing and dancing and every resident was made to feel special. Also good to see so many family and friends of residents in attendance and hopefully lots of money raised to enable the purchase of the specialist tablet for residents. Thanks to all involved in making the party such a success. Mum had a great day! Overall, very happy with the care given (and staff, who really go an extra mile) but feel that owners of Charnwood Lodge need to ensure the premises and facilities are brought up to a satisfactory level as commented on in the last Care Inspectorate report. Additional recruitment would allow staff to spend more quality time with residents.
The care my mother receives is excellent, the staff in her unit go above and beyond, they treat the residents like their own family. They are so welcoming when we visit, we could not ask for more. The management keep you well informed with what is going on and call for medical assistance if or when it is required. They all take away so much worry for the family.
My dad is relatively new to the home but the care and assistance in helping him settle in has been a great support to my dad and the rest of the family. He does not communicate well but all the carers are very patient and seem to have sussed him out really well, his face lights up when they come and talk to him.
My sister-in-law has Parkinson's disease and dementia. Unfortunately, my sister-in-law fell at home and fractured her femur in December 2021. Her dementia and paranoia deteriorated rapidly and she was unable to return to her home. She now resides in the E.M.U where she is safe, very well cared for and now settling in her new home. Staff are extremely supportive of her and myself.
My partner has been living in Charnwood Lodge for the last 8 months and settled in no problem at all. Now being able to get in to see her it is lovely to see her so comfortable in her own room and how happy she seems. The staff are very helpful and assist me with any questions I may have.
Since my mum (aged 91+) moved into Charnwood Lodge following a hospital stay in June 2020, I have been very pleased with the care she has received. When my mum first moved in (during Covid), the staff (office and carers) have been tremendous to myself and my family! I have complete and utter trust in them and their caring abilities. My mum sufferers from urine infections on a regular basis, and the carers never fail to inform me. I can rest easy knowing that my mum's welfare is in the best of hands! Thank you all.
After a stay in hospital, the only option for my uncle was a care home and there was no question about where I wanted and that was Charnwood Lodge. Obviously, at this current time, we are unable to enter the building but I have been in at previous events and can only say that the welcome and atmosphere is excellent. The staff are so attentive and caring. I have recently joined the Facebook group and that is such a fantastic platform for us as families to see how happy and active our loved ones are. It is also great that they have tablets and ipads that you can FaceTime and video call on. The home has been through such a torrid time recently and yet they all have a smile on their face and a spring in their step. Proud to have my uncle in here.
My brother and mother-in-law were looked after very well at Charnwood Lodge. I now have my sister here and again she is cared for very well. She is treated with respect and the staff show a lot of caring towards the residents in their care.
My wife has been in Charnwood Lodge since March last year (2019). I and my family feel we were lucky to get my wife a place here. The place is well run and has a good standard of staff. The place keeps a high standard of cleanliness. The variety of food is good and all the rooms are cleaned daily. The staff are very approachable and are very patient with the residents.
My father came to live in the EMI unit at Charnwood last October. Despite his dementia, he has retained his pleasant personality and sense of humour. He is also quite physically fit. As a senior nurse, I had certain expectations of the care provision required and I am delighted to say Charnwood has met that expectation with ease and in a lovely, caring, personal way. He is cared for in a calm, but fun environment and is so settled. The level of care he receives is exceptional and as a family, we feel so fortunate to have this wonderful facility for his care in the latter years of his life.
This care home is such an excellent place. Residents are treated with love and care. Standards are very high. Staff just wonderful - patient and caring, very helpful to relatives too.
My Dad was resident in the Wallace Grove wing of Charnwood Lodge Care Home recently, for nearly a year. From the day he arrived, from Midpark Hospital, until he died, he was treated with respect, care, patience and kindness. The staff were able to build a relationship with Dad, learning about his background, and understanding his likes and dislikes in an ongoing rapport, in spite of his dementia and the resulting communication difficulties. They learned about and encouraged his love of books, newspapers, classical music and caramel wafers! The staff communicated extremely well with the family and Mum was always made to feel welcome, and part of the “family” in Wallace Grove. We appreciate the many demands on staff in a dementia care home, with many residents with differing needs and abilities. It is constantly challenging, and yet at no point did we ever feel any irritation, impatience or frustration, however mild, directed at Dad, or any other resident.
I feel like my mum has settled well at Charnwood Lodge having been at another care home and really disliked it and was very unsettled. The staff have got to know mum and she gets on well with most of the staff.
The facility is clean, fresh and beautifully bright - more like home than a residential care home. I have nothing but praise for the staff. They are forward-thinking - involving residents in projects, visits to schools and keeping them active both in body and mind. Wonderful care for my mum.
My mother has been a resident of Charnwood Lodge for just over 2 years. During that time she has received consistently excellent care. All the carers know her and treat her with affection and respect. Her health needs are meticulously reviewed and any UTI/S or other health concerns are treated immediately. An indication of this is that her weight has increased by 8lbs since her arrival - very good news. I have already recommended this care home to a friend.
