View Full Details of Alma McFadyen HouseMy mum has been in Alma McFadyen House for almost two years. She has received the highest quality of care and attention. The staff are always around to answer any questions. They also keep me well informed if anything happens with my mum and I am not there. All the staff are respectful to the residents. The lady does a wonderful job of keeping the residents occupied and interactive as much as they can. They have many groups who come into the home to entertain the residents. She also keeps the home themed to what time of the year it is. This year the Christmas decorations were outstanding. Beautiful for the residents. The maintenance person makes sure that the grounds around the home are welcoming and not neglected. He keeps the garden at the back of Alma a wonderful space to sit when the weather allows. The home is clean and tidy to a very high standard. My mother's room is always clean and tidy. As a family, we are very happy with Alma McFadyen House.
Mum is so well cared for. At the moment the care home is so Christmassy and warm and welcoming. It's so friendly and Mum (who has advanced dementia) is telling us how happy she is here. We can visit anytime we want. They are so welcoming to us and know Mum's needs each day. Although Mum doesn't leave the care home now, she is well-stimulated with all the activities and interaction with all the people around her and is left to sleep when she wants to or needs to. I'm so happy she is here at Alma KcFadyen House. It's the best.
As a family, we are delighted with the care and attention our mother receives at Alma McFadyen House. The staff are all very lovely and nothing is ever too much trouble. Alma House has a great feel to it and is very welcoming. Mum's room is kept clean and tidy and she is able to have her own things which makes her feel at home.
Alma McFadyen Care Home is an excellent home. Cleanliness, staff, environment, food and activities are great. Couldn't recommend the home enough. Enjoy going about my day knowing I am safe and well looked after.
Friendly staff that are always around when needed. Clean home in all areas, public rooms and bedrooms. Lots of entertainment for the residents. Lots of drinks and snacks available. Staff aware of needs of residents
I am so happy that my mother in law came to live at Alma McFadyen House. We were all very concerned as to how she would settle in moving to a town as she has lived beside the sea most of her life. The friendliness of the staff and the general ethos of the care home had her settling in within days. I feel that she sees this as her home. I would recommend this home to anyone.
I have found the staff to be helpful, polite, courteous and considerate. They know Mum well and understand her situation, likes and dislikes. They are always cheerful and positive and appreciate the different activities and events, and they work hard to include her. I know they listen to Mum and respect her wishes. I always feel fully informed and enjoy seeing Mum on their Facebook page.
The home provides the care needs of my parent extremely well. Staff are friendly and helpful. I can discuss care needs, concerns and overall well-being openly with staff and the manager. I am kept informed. The accommodation is kept clean, tidy and warm. WiFi access could be extended to cover the whole building.
Visit approximately once a month, staff always pleasant and helpful. Mum content and well looked after. Staff put a great deal of thought into activities/decor for the home to give a homely atmosphere. Go out of their way to help with enquiries and concerns. Well informed.
The staff were warm and attentive when we visited. The residents are well looked after, the staff had a gentle manner with our granny.
Lovely staff. A warm and welcoming care centre.
The care team is of the highest quality. Their focus is entirely on the residents. Each of them is treated with patience and respect by all of the care and support team. I observed the manager draw out a resident who did not respond to others. The manager chatted to her encouraging her to relax and respond with a wonderful smile. This time was really special to them both. A senior carer sensitively approached and managed our family issues efficiently. Problem; new upstairs rooms, there have been repeated issues with the toilets not flushing and the TVs having no reception. Please ensure all the garden seats are updated/clean during the summer.
Alma Mcfadden House is an excellent and outstanding care home. Since my mother has become a resident in November 2021, I have witnessed her receiving kindness and compassion from the staff. Also, her individual resident nursing care plan has been acted on. She always looks well dressed and her hygiene well attended to, nails, hair, etc. Mum is involved in her own decision-making regarding nursing care, nutrition, and involvement in activities. Covid has reduced activities in the home, always to be reinstated. The two episodes have been dealt with in an exemplary manner. Staff working overtime to ensure care is given. Communication and food are excellent. Home atmosphere and staff are excellent.
Having spent a lot of time in Alma House recently visiting both my parents I have to say that the level of care is of the highest standard. All members of staff are helpful, friendly, and attentive which is very comforting, the hygiene and cleanliness is excellent. Overall I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this very caring home to anybody looking to find a place for their parent or friends. The staff and residents are like one big family and that shines through in the happy and loving atmosphere as soon as you enter the building each time.
I could not fault Alma House in any way. The staff are brilliant and go out of their way to make our friend comfortable and happy. I have never seen my friend so contented. The staff always make themselves available to make sure we are kept up to date with our friend's health and if anything is needed for her comfort. My friend is always clean, and you can see she is well looked after.
The staff have gone above and beyond to assist with my mum and the settling in period to her new residence. They have dealt with some challenges in a compassionate and professional manner, identifying individual care needs and liaising with other professionals accordingly.
Most of the staff were extremely helpful, kind, and gentle; one or two very impatient and too rushed to be gentle. Management - would have liked a little more contact eg information about hospital appointments. I am not really keen on the 4 pm meal. I am not hungry that often by that time. Would like more veg and fruit.
If one cannot stay at home, staying at Alma House is the best second there is. The cook is very good and always gives a choice. The staff are pleasant, friendly and hardworking. My family can relax knowing I am well looked after.
Since my mother has gone into Alma she is back to her old self. She is very happy and content, enjoying her meals and getting well cared for. The staff are very friendly, approachable and nothing is too much of a bother. The home is situated in the heart of Dalbeattie, with lovely gardens for residents to sit out and enjoy. The care my mother receives is first class.
The staff at Alma McFadyen House treated my gran as if she were part of their family. The house always felt so homely. During a pandemic, the staff showed up every day with smiles on their faces and genius ideas to keep the residents entertained, included, and valued. They gained the love of Dalbeattie's community and became a lifeline for families who were unable to see their loved ones. My gran was very happy with her care.
