View Full Details of Davidson HouseThe strength of Davison House lies in the quality of the staff. Kind, caring, and approachable. The building and grounds lack a little in terms of maintenance, but given the age and the difficulty all care homes face with recruitment, the shortcomings are not material. My mother very quickly adapted to her new home.
My brother has had excellent care in the home. What I like about it is everyone is so down to earth. Nothing is a bother and they treat my brother like one of their own. Communication from the home has been good and I have been kept updated at all times regarding recommendations from the GP and any updates to medication etc. My brother is very happy in the home and enjoys the activities laid on. He thinks of the facility as his home now.
Since my cousin went into the care of Davidson House, it took a couple of weeks for her to settle and I saw that it is a safe environment for her. I cannot fault anything about it. The standard of cleanliness throughout the building is excellent along with my cousin's own personal care which I cannot fault. I especially like the beauty treatment salon which I know she will enjoy from time to time. Good size day room for activities, watching tv, having treats (ice cream/lollies etc) or just having a snooze and there is always plenty of staff around and have noticed they take the time to rotate and chat to the residents. My cousins room is always very clean, her bedding is changed regularly. I must commend the staff for keeping me up to date with my cousins welfare which makes me feel more at ease knowing she is getting the best care possible. I find that every member of staff is very friendly and helpful & would not hesitate in recommending this care home to anyone.
To date, I have been extremely happy with the care and attention my wife has received in Davidson House. The staff in particular show great patience and understanding.
Lots of mistakes were made, and cover-ups in my opinion, in caring for my mother who went in healthy apart from her mobility which wasn't great, but was getting there with support or so I thought, but after 1 week and two falls, she got sepsis and passed away on morphine driver. Something was not right and no real explanation just avoidance. They did care when she was on end-of-life care, won't fault that, but a lot of questions to be answered in time!
Davidson House is a wonderful place. It has a very warm ethos and is spotlessly clean. The staff are so kind and caring and keep me updated regularly on how my mum is. The rooms are well-decorated and warm. Special weeks/days are celebrated and they have numerous activities on offer throughout the week to keep residents stimulated and busy. The kindness of staff and activities make this place very special and I am very blessed that my mum is there. The staff are very receptive to any issues and are always adapting to help meet the needs of residents. Social media posts keep me updated about everything that residents are doing when I am at work which means I know my mum is having a good time and is very comforting. Thank you, everyone for all that you do.
Placing a loved one into a care home is a difficult time for all concerned and can be quite challenging. However on my visit to the home I had no doubt it was the place I felt most comfortable with. Yes it is a bit dated in places and yes there are always little hick-ups to begin with but the overwhelming sense I felt was the close loving feeling I felt from all the carers and management who kindly showed me around. It has taken a while for my partner to settle in but I can honestly say I never leave the home without the knowledge that he is being loved and cared for and if I have any issues at all they are dealt with kindly and with compassion. I could not imagine my partner being anywhere else; that in itself is a reflection I have for this loving home.
My Aunt has been in Davidson House for several years now. From the week she arrived I could see she was very happy. She loved taking part in all the activities. I have never known a care home to have so much going on for the residents. It certainly keeps their minds active. The food is excellent from what I have seen and what my Aunt has told me. Residents are not pressured to get up if they feel like a long lie in, or don't feel like taking part in activities. It is nice to see little things, like nails being manicured and painted. My Aunt always loves the sweet trolley doing its rounds, with plenty of chocolate and crisps to keep her happy! When we have visited in the past, we were often given refreshments and welcomed to join in with singing songs, or the various activities of the day. We had many a fun time visiting, and the Grandchildren enjoyed it too. Staff are friendly and on residents' birthdays, they are made a fuss of with gifts and cake etc. A real home from home!
My mother has been in Davidson House since December 2014. During that time her care has been excellent and getting better. The home manager is exceptional and under her tenure all aspects of the home have got better and I'm sure will continue to do so. All the staff are superb. The food is excellent. The home is clean under the present management team, I'm confident that things can only get better still.
