View Full Details of FerryleeFerrylee Care Home is where our auntie spent her last few months, we have to say that the care and compassion that the staff gave to our auntie was above and beyond, nothing was too much trouble the staff were very friendly and you could tell that they love the residents as if they were their own family it has a very warm atmosphere. They made us feel very welcome, I don't think a lot of people realise just how hard they work and how dedicated they are to their job. All care homes should be like this one which puts the people first we are just so glad that our auntie came to this care home.
My mum was a resident in Ferrylee from December 2022 until March 2024. I initially had reservations of the care home environment however my fears were soon alleviated upon arrival as my mum settled in quickly to her new home due to the loveliness of the staff who go out their way to make sure residents do feel at home. The communal area is bright, welcoming and homely and residents usually gather here to take part in the many activities that staff arrange whether that be a movie, bingo, a sing-song, entertainment from the local school or dance group, there was always something going on. The menu is varied and of a good standard. My mum had her challenges but they were met with respect, care, compassion and support. The home is only as good as the people who work there and they were all fantastic in equal measure. The only slight downside is the bedrooms are a wee bit small and no en-suite however a bath/shower was never a bother. I couldn't have asked for any more.
My dad has been a resident since March 2020 when he was discharged from hospital to Ferrylee Care Home at the start of the first Covid lockdown, in reality, he could have landed anywhere but I'm so grateful he won the care home lottery with Ferrylee. The staff are brilliant, caring and respectful. They treat the residents with dignity and have become like family. The environment is lovely and although the bedrooms are on the small side, the shared spaces are fantastic. It's not at all "institutional" and there are different areas for the residents to use, including quiet spots, social areas and a large common area for TV, movies or sing songs. The list of social activities is comprehensive with something for everyone. There is plenty of variety on the menu and it's great to see my dad enjoying his food. I honestly couldn't ask for more.
I must say the treatment of my mum has been first class, and all the staff have been very kind to my mum and myself. I am very pleased with how my mum is currently being taken care of.
Very clean homely environment. All staff from cleaners to managers are excellent at interacting with the clients, and as a relative, I too felt at home and welcome at Ferrylee. There is often activities, entertainers, parties going on. Efforts over Christmas and New Year by the staff; amazing. Meals appear good, and there was always loads of home baking for all to enjoy. Staff always kept me informed of how my dad was doing and was particularly supportive when my dad was admitted to hospital on a few occasions near the end of life; contact me promptly but also always sending a staff member who would stay with my dad till I arrived. I would recommend Ferrylee to anyone looking for a safe but also homely accommodation and care for an elderly relative.
Overall delighted with mums care at this care home. The staff are always patient and kind. They pay attention to her particular needs and keep us informed of any changes in her condition. Have no concerns that mums needs are not being met. Would happily recommend to anyone looking for care for a loved one.
Our mother went into Ferrylee just before Christmas 2019 after a stay in hospital. It was a worrying time for the family, but she settled in well. There is a very warm and homely feel to Ferrylee, and Mum is treated with great kindness and consideration. All the staff take a genuine interest in her wellbeing, comfort and do their very best to make her feel at home. Nothing is too much trouble, and there are also lots of activities and events organised to keep the residents happy and motivated. All the family are also looked after well when visiting Mum, and I get regular updates on her health and what she has been doing/what is planned. It is now 4-months since she moved to Ferrylee, and we all agree that Mum is looking so much better, even prior to her stay in hospital. I'd like to say a big thank you on behalf of Mum and the family to everyone at Ferrylee for their exceptional care in keeping Mum happy.
Dad is a resident here after an extended hospital stay where he was really unhappy. When we discussed a care home option, Ferrylee was one of those options. I didn’t know much about it as a care home was never discussed previously. The difference in Dad was night and day. He is very happy and safe, we have no concerns at all. Every visit he is smiling, the staff are always available to talk to, and they keep us fully informed about Dad’s new life. The surroundings are homely and welcoming. The staff, have said on more than one occasion, that it’s the residents home not a workplace. They are 100% amazing.
My father was admitted to Ferrylee care home directly after a lengthy stay in the hospital, where Dad was diagnosed with dementia, and we were faced with choosing a care home. We had to make three choices, and Ferrylee was highly recommended by a friend who's relative was cared for there. In July 2019, we were absolutely delighted when dad was able to make Ferrylee his new home. The level of care on arrival was paramount to the care he had received in the hospital. Dad was highly distressed and confused while in the hospital, and since living in Ferrylee, he has been incredibly happy and healthy. The staff are truly wonderful, they keep us regularly informed of Dad's health and care needs, are constantly looking at new and inventive ways to keep their residents stay as engaged and motivated as possible. They host a wide variety of in-house events to celebrate, not just resident's birthdays but all public holidays (Valentine's Day to Christmas) the staff make all residents feel valued and special.
Staff excellent always got time for you. Very clean, you can be sure your relative will be well looked after.
My mother spent just under six months in this care home and I cannot recommend highly enough. The care my mother was given was excellent, friendly and helpful staff, they catered for all my mother needs and more. Meals are excellent and great choices. Near the end my mother became very ill and staff would take the time out their day to sit and talk with her. Up to her last day, my mother was cared for by the very best and compassionate carers I have ever met, its just like having an extended family. Thank you all.
My Dad has just returned from 4 days respite (this was his 4th stay). The staff kept me informed and updated regularly when he had a couple of health issues. He came back accompanied by a male staff member as the senior staff member was concerned about his mobility as this has deteriorated of late. A carers job does not get the recognition it should. You ALL DO A GREAT JOB THANK YOU. My mum THANKS you as she gets a wee break just with me! Dad said "oh it was good" BELIEVE ME THAT IS AN ACCOLADE!
