View Full Details of Forthland LodgeThe bedroom my mother sleeps in does on occasion smell of urine. The shower room WC on my last visit had not been cleaned properly. I cannot comment on the food and drink she is given. It appears when visiting my mum that the staff are attentive.
Our dad has been a resident here for over 4 years now. He is well looked after and comfortable here. We chose Forthland Lodge as it is local to us and we are pleased with our choice of care home. He is known to all the staff and is able to choose how much/little interaction he wants.
My dad is really happy and settled in Forthland Lodge. He has a lovely large room with his own toilet, shower room and TV. Occasionally he will sit in the restrooms that are also available. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. He enjoys his food and he has a large choice of meals to choose from during the day as well as being offered coffee and snacks. On a personal note, most of the time I can park outside the care home which is convenient and if I have ever had a question or issue I have found the senior staff obliging and efficient.
All of the staff are lovely and can't do enough for him. He loves living here. He was in respite before moving in here which was lovely however his room here is much bigger and he has the added benefit of having his own shower room. Great place to be.
Mum's overall care has been good. She is content and looks well. We do have an issue with the laundry and missing clothes. Which is frustrating and costly. Also Mum's TV remote keeps getting lost. Her room is clean and tidy. The staff are always friendly and supportive. As a visitor we are well cared for with the offer of tea and a biscuit. The facilities are well cared for and tidy.
The ethos is good and staff at Forthland Lodge Care Home are caring and friendly and our dad is cared for well, so we are very happy about that. We would like to see more activities done with residents as there is not much entertainment or activities going on. Control of our Dad's diabetic diet could also be better.
My dad came into care on 19/04/2023, this was a very upsetting time for our family. Everyone at Forthland Lodge Care Home has welcomed my dad and our family. I can't thank you all for the help and support you're giving my dad. We feel safe now Dad is with you, he is looked after well. Forthland staff are so helpful. Dad has had a new lower bed, alarms in his room and a crashmat if he falls. I get a phone call if Dad falls. I appreciate everything you do for my dad. Thank you.
My dad and myself are very pleased with the care that my mum is receiving in the home. We couldn't ask for anything more to be done. My mum appears to be settled and happy.
I have just attended my mother's second 6 monthly review. Fourthland Lodge have been very attentive and imaginative in meeting my mother's changing needs and interests. They achieve this through friendly observation and reflection. It is hard to see my mother as Alzheimer's ravages her, but, in this setting, she is safe, confident and busy, alongside peers and professionals who show affection kindness and diligence. This is a great comfort in difficult times.
My husband has now been in care for three years and his dementia has progressed rapidly. He is unable to make good use of the facilities in the home now, but as a family, we are happy with the care given. We are always informed of any changes in his health. Suffering from seizures he was prescribed medication and to avoid falls from his bed the bed was lowered and a safety mat put down. We also receive six monthly reviews and as a family, we are always consulted regarding his care and medication.
My husband is a resident of this care home. I feel basically he is being looked after well enough, but sometimes it is difficult to get any requests sorted out. He was measured for support stockings for his very swollen feet months ago. They were ordered, but still no sign of them. His badly swollen feet are affecting his mobility. He is also awaiting a little narrow table for his room. The one he has can't pull into his chair for him to drink. I would like to have more contact with the manager when I need things sorted out, but never see her. Quite a few of his items are missing, no sign of them.
I feel well having visited my friend today. He was all showered and shaved, his room and shower room was nice and clean. I am so pleased that he has progressed well since being in Forthland Lodge, Edinburgh.
My mother has been a resident for two years now and is very happy with the home and all related services.
The home has been refurbished with new furniture and newly decorated. Staff working hard to look after the residents and this makes a very homely atmosphere.
