View Full Details of Marian HouseMy husband moved from the family home into Marian House a few months ago. Due to his condition, he didn't settle well at first but the staff were so caring and patient with him. He now says that they are 'lovely people' and I am relieved and happy to report that he is settling into his new home. The care home is spotlessly clean and the food is excellent with a choice of meals to suit all tastes. A warm and friendly ambiance greets you when you enter and the staff are always ready to answer any queries you may have. The garden to the rear is very attractive and the perfect spot in which to relax on a sunny day. We are delighted with the care our loved one receives in Marian House.
The care provided is exemplary in every way. No complaints whatsoever. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are friendly and extremely attentive and caring. Most of the staff have been in the home for some time which is always a good sign. The decoration of the rooms and public areas is spotlessly clean and there are no untoward smells anywhere. There is a regular activity programme which is published in advance each week. There is excellent medical support from a local GP practice and ophthalmic and dental support is available.
It has been 3 months since my husband moved into Marian House. The most wonderful aspect of this care home is its staff. All staff are very friendly, helpful and conscientious and compassionate. They really work very hard to make residents happy and comfortable. I cannot thank them enough for working tirelessly to look after my husband. Furthermore, the most attractive feature of Marian House is its mature garden. On a sunny day, residents and their relatives can enjoy strolling the garden. On such a fine day, animals including Alpacas, Shetland ponies, pigmy goats, and guinea pigs came to visit residents. I was truly astonished to find them in the courtyard. Marian House also welcomes visitors by pets as well. My husband appreciates a regular visit by his pet cat. It makes all the difference to him. I would like to end my review with my heartfelt gratitude to all the members of staff.
My sister has been a resident at Marian House since early 2024 and I was very apprehensive about her settling in. I needn't have worried as the staff were so welcoming and friendly and had hung all her favourite pictures beautifully to make her room very homely. Marian House is a lovely airy light-filled building inside and it wraps around a well-kept sunny courtyard garden. My sister's room looks out on this space and I know it gives her a lot of pleasure as do her little forays out there. The staff are very understanding about her need to have a little independence and don't interfere with that. I think things could have been very different in a place where a more rigid approach was taken. There are also lots of activities my sister can take or leave as she feels inclined. So all in all she is happy and content in a difficult health situation thanks to the care and kindness of the staff of Marian House who really couldn't try harder.
We will be forever grateful to Marion House in accepting our mum into their beautiful nursing home. It had a peaceful and calming atmosphere from the first minute we entered. The Marion House staff have gone above and beyond to make sure Mum has everything that she needs to help her have some independence back, they have managed to get Mum to walk with help where she has not done since her operation. Mum has quickly settled into Marion House and is happier in there than when she was at home with carers. Mum talks about the delicious meals and tells us she likes staying in the home. This is all due to the experienced staff who show so much patience, kindness, love and first-class care to our mum. Marion House probably don’t need any reviews but sometimes it’s nice to hear that all the staff there are all doing such a fantastic job making my mum very happy and giving her first-class care, so I thank all of the staff and we will be forever grateful to them all.
Our mum moved into Marian House at the beginning of the year. We got a really good feeling about the care home when we went to see it and have to say we were not wrong. The staff are fantastic, the level of care and attention to detail is first-class. There’s a great programme of weekly activities. We really can’t praise Marian House enough and feel totally reassured that our mum is being well looked after.
My mother recently moved into Marian House. I am impressed with the high standard of care and facilities here, and would not hesitate to recommend Marian House. (Honestly, I could live here !) My mum has a lovely room overlooking the gardens. Her room is calm, clean, light and bright. The services and facilities are fantastic - great food, coffee and cake, great laundry service. There are also activities for those who would like to participate. The care team are kind, caring, patient, attentive, respectful and supportive - not only of Mum but the whole family. The staff involve us in decisions and keep us informed. Mum's individual needs are understood and catered for. On moving in we were met with warmth, understanding and clear and helpful information. As I live abroad I am lucky that my Mum is living and cared for in such a lovely place, and that I have access to the care plans. when I ring there is always time to keep me updated. I feel as though nothing is too much trouble.
My mother has been a resident in Marian House since June 2023. What a welcoming place it is, the staff are always very caring and friendly when I visit and I am confident that they have my mother's best interests at heart. Most of the rooms look onto a safe, well-kept garden which residents can access and enjoy all year round as it has a covered veranda. The home is always clean, the food is excellent (freshly cooked) and there are daily activities for residents if they choose to take part. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Marian House to anyone seeking care for their loved one.
Mum has now been at Marian House for a few years and we count ourselves very lucky indeed that we found this care home. The place is an oasis of calm, always clean and the staff cannot do enough for their residents. Even though Mum isn't able to participate in many activities now due to her advancing dementia she isn't ignored and people spend time with her. The laundry is always immaculate and the food is good. I feel like the staff looks after the whole family, not just the residents, and I can't think of a better place for my mum to be looked after.
My mother is very happy at Marian House and our family recognizes that she is receiving excellent care, which provides us with peace of mind and comfort. Overall, I’d commend the home on its organization, cleanliness, nutrition and, most importantly the personal care my mother receives. She enjoys the food choices in the dining room, she is engaged in lots of activities to fight boredom and she feels comfortable and safe in her room. As a relative, I like that the nurses are easy to reach and the manager is quick to respond to queries. In addition she provides regular, helpful information and updates in her emails. I only go to the home twice a year while visiting from overseas, but I am always made very welcome and all the staff are willing to help and answer any questions I have.
My mother stayed in Marian House for a few weeks in 2023 to recuperate following a spell in hospital. From the moment that she stepped into Marian House, she was made to feel welcome by each of the staff that she met throughout her stay there. With their dedicated care and support her health improved and strengthened quickly until she was well enough to return home. Moving Mum into Marian House was made very easy. I was able to bring in items from home to make her lovely room more individual to her, and they liaised with the hospital about the arrangements for transferring Mum on the agreed date. Also, the staff always made me feel very welcome and I was able to visit Mum often. I feel that each resident is respected as an individual within the Marian House community and is encouraged to engage in the things that interest them.
Marian House is a very special place and I am so glad that my mother is being cared for there. I could wax lyrical about the astute leadership, the dedicated nursing care, the healthy food, the bright, clean and cheerful environment, and the engaging programme of activities, but I think, above all, it is the people who work there who make it so special. Staff go the extra mile to make residents feel at home, and are consistently patient, kind and welcoming. Residents are always treated with respect and everyone's point of view matters. The regular residents' meetings, for example, are properly minuted and displayed. This makes my mother feel valued and encourages her to participate in the life of the home. The wider family are also included in my Mother's care. As my sisters live abroad, they appreciate the daily reports recorded in a secure online portal. My mother's visitors are always warmly welcomed and the afternoon cup of tea is generously shared with strangers. A special place indeed.
Marian House has been very welcoming to my mother (nearly 97). The activities coordinator has been very kind - the pet therapy dog has been very good for her. The home is warm and comfortable. The cups of tea and coffee and homemade cakes are very appreciated. The management is kind and good at communication. The nurses are excellent.
When it became necessary for Mum to move into a care home we asked around. Marian House was mentioned favourably several times. These recommendations were entirely justified. Her room is most attractive with a view out to a lovely garden. Mum settled very quickly, very much appreciating being able to bring items from home. As well as a TV she also has a landline phone beside her chair so feels in touch with the outside world. Staff are friendly and caring and visitors are made to feel very welcome. As a family we appreciate how quickly we are informed of any concerns and how promptly a doctor would arrive if necessary.
We chose Marian House for Mum because many family members live in the neighbourhood. It was obvious from the first visit that the home is warm, clean and friendly. The carers are very good, some exceptional, and management is on the ball. They recognise the need to provide activities for resident's emotional needs as well as physical and are working to improve this aspect.
My mum had to move into a care home in September 2022 at very short notice. I cannot praise everyone at Marion House highly enough, they made the move so easy and welcoming for my mother and the family. Over the past year, the staff have been so thoughtful, caring and kind. The high level and consistency of her care has been so reassuring for us. My mum's quality of life has improved enormously both socially and physically. She really enjoys the wide range of activities and the quality of the meals. It has been so good to see her thriving after a long period of struggling to cope at home.
From day one Marian House has been a positive experience. Great staff with a real genuine focus on ensuring that the resident is cared for in every way. The home has exceeded our expectations.
The staff are very kind hearted and listen to what you have to stay. My room suits me very well. My visitors tell me it is homely. I feel good having my own furniture here with me. We have a good variety of meals, well cooked. My family are reassured knowing I am safe.
Our mother came to Marian House in February 2021, during the covid restrictions., with Alzheimer's. We have been extremely happy with the care she has received. The staff have been very caring to our mother, as her illness has developed and worsened. We are kept fully briefed on how she is and are made to feel welcome whenever we visit.
Mum moved into Marian House 3.5 years ago from hospital when she was deemed unfit to go home. We had to find somewhere quickly and this was recommended to me by several people with first hand experience. Mum has a lovely room overlooking the garden. Whenever I ask for any changes to be made to the room, these are carried out immediately. Mum is well cared for, always dressed respectfully in her own clothes which are labelled meticulously. Although there are naturally staff changes and temporary staff cover, a good number of staff have been in position since before Mum moved in which helps with consistent care and gives the place a family feel. I am always made to feel very welcome! Mum loves the food (a little too much!). I saw some of it first hand recently when Mum was poorly and needed help to be fed and it did look delicious. There is an excellent and enthusiastic activities co-ordinator who works hard to get residents out of their rooms and Mum looks happy in photos of the outings.
