The care given in Adams Unit is truly excellent and special. There is a warm and welcoming atmosphere and staff seem to know the residents as individuals. As a visitor, I frequently see many acts of personalised care and attention and feel my husband is treated as an individual. There is also a place to make coffee which helps the homely feel. I can't speak highly enough of the care - thank you to the unit lead and all the staff.
The food is too often not well cooked. There is far too much of it, especially for elderly people who do not require huge meals as we may have done when we were younger and fitter. There is not enough staff across the board for all that needs to be done here, despite individual staff members and managers often showing great kindness to me as a resident. The considerable outside ground area needs the attention of a full-time gardener.
Poor communication - don't know what events on where. Friendly atmosphere, helpful staff. Would like more salad.
In recent weeks there has been a big improvement in the atmosphere in the care home. The caring staff seem a lot happier and more relaxed whilst doing their jobs. There are still things that need improving. In particular the activities. I know the deputy manager and temporary manager are working on this. So things are going to be better.
My friend was a resident in Craigielea care home. The staff were professional, caring and kind. Nothing at all was a problem for them. She received first class care from all the team. When she was on end-of-life, the staff looked after her family and friends providing comfort, tea/coffee and a listening ear. As a retired staff nurse, I would recommend Craigielea care home to family and friends knowing they would be well looked after by everyone who works there. Well done to all the staff, you were amazing. Thank you.
I was totally blown away by the service and how recently they have gone beyond their call of duty, Valentine's Day was outstanding and my relatives were able to have a meal with added extras such as a card, rose and chocolates. The care home is beautifully furnished, has no smell like care homes do and the care is good with brilliant staff and management who are always on hand even at weekends and late nights. I am now confident that I have made the right choice and would recommend it to everyone looking for care.
My Mum has very recently moved into Craigielea, and already I am so impressed with the care she is receiving. From my initial visit to Mum moving in we have had so much support from the whole team. The care home is very inviting, and has a lovely feel to it. The facilities are excellent. Mum’s room is lovely. There are plenty of activities for Mum to join in with, she even had her hair cut in the salon within 48 hours of moving in. The dining rooms are presented well and the choice of food is great. The staff are very friendly and helpful and they treat the residents with kindness, care and respect. I cannot recommend Craigielea Care Home highly enough.
My dad moved into Craiglea care home about a month ago. We can visit almost anytime, without prior arrangement. The home is welcoming and warm with excellent food and menu choices. When my father had a recent infection, two wonderful members of staff took time out of their busy days to support my dad and me! I'm grateful that I can phone my dad when I want, as I live far away.
We visit our sister on a regular basis. Our journey south takes four hours. She is always in good form and always clean and tidy. Her hair is always clean and brushed. Problems with hearing aids get fixed. The staff are efficient when dealing with our phone calls. There is a friendly atmosphere in the home, always warm and well lit, plenty of light. Food has plenty of choice. Well done to all staff and management.
My mother was a resident at Craigielea for approximately 14 months. During that time we felt my mother was well cared for and her needs were met. Not everything or everyone was perfect for my mother as she felt she was able to look after herself. This was not the case and the staff on the Robertson wing did everything they could to help her and maintain her dignity which was most important to her and us.
Craigielea is a fantastic care home, my brother is a resident in 'Adams Unit', he is very happy and well looked after - the staff are amazing and so caring. Plenty to do for them, the activities coordinator is so efficient, they have a new manager and she is doing wonderful things, it's had a really lovely uplift with facilities and surroundings. Residents' hair stylist is so caring, she does so much more than just their hair. The head nurse (deputy manager) goes above and beyond her duties.
My husband is well cared for in the home. He seems content. The staff work very hard to make the unit a pleasant place to be.
I’ve only come on to completely hype up and preach my support for the new management they have in place. The manager is an absolute delight to deal with and she will resolve all and any issues you have. I had slight concerns with previous management about the care of my mum and nothing was really done about it. I brought these same concerns to the new manager and they were fixed within the week. When visiting mum, I can’t help but watch. The staff evidently love what they do and that is just shown by the love and care they consistently show. My mum loves to spend time with other patients and she just adores the staff that look after her. All the new activities really have made a difference to my mum. She’s now engaging with others and has made close friends. Although I can’t take Mum out anymore, the new bistro brings about old memories of nipping out for a coffee. She might not always have the ability or patience to say thank you. So hear it from me, thank you!
Mum was newly admitted, staff have worked hard to get to know her likes and dislikes. Staff keep the family informed about Mum's behaviour and mood and what they have done for her. The home is kept very clean, domestic staff should be proud. The family are pleased with all services provided. 10/10.
Mum has been in the Robertson unit for just over two years now. She is very happy, content and her health has improved due to the care and support she gets from all the staff. We are always kept updated how Mum is doing and get regular reviews. It gives us great piece of mind knowing she’s getting well looked after! We look at the staff as extended family. Thank you for all you do, it means so much to us! Also wants to thank one staff member for looking after Mum's hair, she always has Mum looking lovely. Not forgetting their activities co-ordinator for all the activities and laughter.
Informative review, everything was well explained.
My cousin passed away in Craigielea just last week and arranging a funeral is something I have never done before. The manager helped me from the removal of my cousin, the death certificate from the registered office and assisting with organising the funeral, this all took the pressure off me. I was delighted with my cousin's care so much so I booked a room for my mum who arrived yesterday. Today I went to visit Mum and for the first time since February, my mum is a different person, she is up sat on a chair, looks fresh and getting her hair done. The home is busy with activities for residents and as much as it pains my cousin's passing I’m emotional for good reason about Mum's care. Thank you.
Craigielea is in the best sense of the word a 'home'. Residents are treated as part of a family, not 'customers' or even 'patients'. Staff are always there and nothing is ever a chore, even when it’s busy or something may be happening.
I found the care my parent received second to none. Craigielea is clean with fresh and modern decor. Staff are always getting involved, supporting all my parents' care, from visits to the shop, to celebrations such as the Queen's Jubilee and King's Coronation. My father is happy and settled and always spotless, wearing his own clothes. We, as a family, feel at ease knowing he is happy. We are asked to become part of his care by being included in his care plan. We are always updated with developments in his care. Craigielea staff give a real, good vibe to the place, which shows, as they all know my father by his name and nothing is an issue. This is from management to carers. We can sleep at night knowing he has carers with his well-being at heart and he is 100% treated with respect and dignity.
I found the manager and staff very good and supportive. My wife gets excellent support and care.
