View Full Details of Lower JohnshillThe care that my dad has received is excellent. The staff are aware of his every need and provide all that he requires. After his discharge from hospital, we don't expect him to recover as speedily as he has - this is only down to the care and compassion shown to him by the staff at Lower Johnshill.
Lower Johnshill is set in lovely surroundings, well kept gardens. The building itself is very attractive when you enter. All the staff are very helpful, the care staff are excellent, nothing is a problem. Bedrooms could do with updating.
Mum wanted tranquillity and she got that and so much more from the care team at Lower Johnshill.]The rooms are like the staff, first class in terms of views and requirements. The staff are compassionate and caring. They were so sensitive to Mum's needs. I can't thank the whole team enough!
The care my mum receives from all the staff is to a very high standard. Front desk as you enter the building is staffed with a lovely helpful lady. The laundry staff has been helpful many times with Mum's laundry. The manager is also very helpful.
All staff very assuring and welcoming a real family atmosphere, everything I put to staff and ask staff is dealt with quickly. My only one concern was when some agency staff were used they didn't have the same knowledge about my husband's medication (no fault of the Lower Johnshill staff) which at times concerned me, but on saying that I couldn't wish my husband anywhere else for the attention he gets from all staff.
My mother received end-of-life care at Lower Johnshill, Auchlochan from November to May 2023. My mother did not anticipate or appreciate having to enter nursing care. She had been a strong independent woman all her adult life and wanted to spend her last days at home. However, necessity meant there was no other choice. From admission, the staff at Lower Johnshill went out of their way to make her feel at home. They were caring compassionate and attentive to a degree that exceeded my expectations. We felt confident leaving her in their care and knew they could do for her what we could not. It was not long before Mother conceded that she could not be better cared for and that was a compliment she would not easily give. She was a difficult woman to please at times but the staff at Lower Johnshill did that consistently throughout her stay. They also were extremely accommodating and supportive to the family during and after her passing. We arrived as service users and left as friends.
Lower Johnshill is in a fabulous setting; the grounds are beautiful and extremely well kept, relaxing to walk in when you require to take time to yourself. Despite being in administration at present, the care being given to residents has not been affected, and all the staff remain caring, friendly and approachable. The activity coordinator is inventive and motivated, bringing new ideas regularly. The nursing team and carers face many challenges on a daily basis but take these in their stride, and these are dealt with professionally and courteously. I would recommend Lower Johnshill with no hesitation.
My parents settled in well about two years ago. There were lots of activities when covid restriction allowed and they seemed very happy. Permanent staff are friendly and attentive. There seems to have been more agency/new staff recently. Staff cared for my mum in her last few days. My dad is less settled since Mum died but is well cared for. Staff keep in informed. The reception and admin staff are excellent too. The care home is set in beautiful expansive grounds and there is a very good restaurant on site that is open to visitors.
I cannot fault the standard of care that my mother has received at Lower Johnshill. Each and every member of staff has treated her with respect and dignity at all times and their support to the family has been excellent.
My friend went into the care home for some respite just before Christmas. From the moment she went in, she was treated with compassion and kindness. I cannot thank them enough for all they have done.

My dad came to Johnshill in June 2021, as mum had advanced cancer and could no longer look after him. He celebrated his 90th birthday shortly after admission. Mum died on July 23rd, and Dad had been in care for just short of a month. He suffered from many chronic diseases. He had many admissions to the hospital during his short stay. Luckily, he was able to 'come home' to spend his final days at Johnshill He recieved the best care from all staff who came into contact with him. He died, I am sure of a broken heart, three months after Mum. I cannot thank the staff enough for their care, compassion, and despite Covid restrictions, empathy for our family and visiting Dad. Thank you to all staff who work so hard, in such difficult times, with our loved ones. A very grateful daughter.

I find the staff to be extremely patient, kind and helpful. My mum was brought to the gazebo well wrapped up and given a mask to wear. My mum looked really well and delighted to see me. We had a lovely time together and my mum was in good form, laughter between us and both of us chatty.
