View Full Details of Greenhills Care HomeInitial discussions and negotians were helpful and clear, and management staff co-operative. There always seemed to be an atmosphere of relative calm when we visited and that encouraged me. Many of such places have ups and downs. Greenhills seems 'up'. If I have any reservations it is this. My husband was able to do morning and evening routines for himself but only because I had to steer him towards shower or correct order of dressing - and hearing aids. Inevitable if members of staff are responsible for than one patient, slip ups will occur eg loss of hearing aids or omitting items of dress. Overall, I am satisfied however.
The words excellent, kind, and supportive almost feel inadequate in expressing gratitude the loving care given to my 'wee friend'! Thank you team Greenhills!
Kind and caring staff who do their best for all residents.
The care and support my mum receives is amazing. Recently, my dad has been in hospital and has not been able to visit my mum in this nursing home but they have helped me with taking Mum over to the hospital to let my mum and dad see each other which is amazing for both of their mental health's and their wellbeing. Always happy to help in any way.
From the moment of arrival, you can tell that Greenhills is a welcoming environment with dedicated staff. The manager greeted my uncle with kindness and patience. The wonderful staff are clearly a warm, approachable and dedicated team under his management. My uncle has settled in so well and enjoys the meals and the company of the other residents.
Staff at Greenhills are always approachable and friendly treating service users with kindness and respect. It was lovely to see activities being enjoyed again by the residents. The Halloween party and entertainment this month were very welcome. Any questions or concerns are always dealt with. My sister is very happy and I am very happy with the care she receives.
My mother always highly praises all the staff who look after her for their cheerful, caring attitude. Greenhills managed the Covid pandemic situation very well. My mother's room is lovely with a beautiful view. Communication with the family has improved and activities are good.
Our mother has been a resident for some years, i.e. pre and post-pandemic. Like all care homes, there have been great challenges and this continues regarding staff recruitment and retention, but overall good care has continued from kind staff, with particular attention during periods where visits required careful monitoring through a supportive coordinator. GP attendance is regular and of high quality from the local practice. The rooms are pleasant with ensuite and cleaning and laundry are effective. The home is in a nice setting with beautiful views over the hills at the back. The garden and grounds could be better maintained but this is perhaps understandable given recent circumstances. Communication from managers has varied over time but is currently proactive and helpful. Due to the shortage of nurses, there is a plan to change nursing input to a peripatetic service. This might actually improve continuity if they can recruit but remains to be trialled and assessed.
The staff are generally kind and caring, albeit having to cope with significant challenges represented by difficulties in recruiting and retaining people. [This, of course, is a nationwide issue, which can probably only be effectively remedied by major structural changes in the way in which social care is organised and funded]. Greenhills is very pleasantly situated on the outskirts of Biggar and as a purpose-built care home benefits from ground floor rooms with en suite facilities throughout. It is a pity that the garden areas surrounding the building have rather suffered from neglect over the Covid period, and are lacking in maintenance, other than grass-cutting. I appreciate that this may not have been accorded top priority during the last couple of years, but a pleasant environment undoubtedly contributes to the well-being of both residents and staff.
We chose my mum to move into this care home because we had spoken to people who work in the home or had family members who had been a resident. Everyone we spoke to gave it great reviews. My mum has now been living in the home for a few weeks, which was organised very quickly. She requires full-time care now because of her disability and dementia and has had to get used to being moved into a new place, alone and without her husband, who sadly passed away, and me, her daughter and my family. Everyone in the home has been wonderful by making her feel so welcome, and in such a small amount of time, my mum feels like it's her own home. The staff keep me updated if they feel we need to know something about my mum or the care home, and when we want to visit her, no appointment is needed. It is very relaxed and makes you feel like you are in her own home.
I am very pleased and satisfied with the care giving to my relative who lives in Greenhills Care Home. The staff are all friendly and nothing is of trouble to them. The care the residents receive is amazing and with the current Covid-19 the staff have cared for these residents unconditionally, treating them with dignity and respect when these were the only faces residents were seeing for a while. They all have done an amazing job and the fact the have remained Covid-19 free is a major accomplishment. Well done to all staff and management for this accomplishment.
I have already recommended Greenhills to a friend, and he and his mother agreed that she should move in.
Very friendly, helpful and polite staff. Always clean and fresh when visiting. High standards of testing for visiting to keep everyone safe. Doing great. Greenhill keep up the good work.
These are my mum's words: 'A kind attitude from all staff. Noone is patronising. Staff are encouraging and warm.'
I am happy with the support my mother-in-law receives and have felt secure in the knowledge that she is safe and continues to be well cared for through the present COVID pandemic. Her mood has remained cheery and this has provided much reassurance to myself and my family.
I have nothing but praise for Greenhills Care Home since my aunt arrived in December, I have been kept well informed as to what has been going on and how well my aunt has settled in. Greenhills do lots of fun stuff with the residents as well which is nice to know they are interacting in different situations. I had my first zoom call with my aunt last week and the carer made sure she was comfortable and able to see me on the screen before she left. We had about 30 minutes and when the carer came back she politely said we had a few more minutes. I also had my first zoom call with management and other residents' relatives today. Well informed as to what has been happening and the way forward. I'm looking forward to the key worker system which I think will be a huge benefit to all involved. Well done Greenhills!
All the staff at Greenhills are doing a fantastic job looking after the residents in these, particularly challenging circumstances. I cannot speak highly enough about the care and attention given to my 87-year-old mother.
I don't get to visit my mother as often as I would like due to distance and lately, the lockdown ruling. Whenever I visit her, she is always happy, very clean and well dressed. Before lockdown, she was taken out along with other residents on some trip or another. I can find no fault in her care at Greenhills - the staff are always extremely helpful, smiling and chatting away to residents. The premises are never anything but clean and tidy when I have visited. I'm very grateful to everyone at Greenhills for the exemplary care being taken of my mother.
Totally understaffed for the resident's needs and they are all run off their feet they need more staff! To keep up with the needs of the residents l am in there daily and l am shocked at some treatment as to being well understaffed.
A lounge for visitors and their relatives would be appreciated as the bedroom is too small for extra chairs. Tea and coffee facilities could do with a freshen up. The staff are all very friendly and they all work very hard.
