View Full Details of Monkbarns Care HomeThis care home is the best, it should be more recognised, my husband stayed here from February 2024 till his death in December 2024. The staff were brilliant, I'm missing seeing them all now. Thank you everyone in Monkbarns, you know who you are.
This is an amazing place. My dad stays here. We are so positive about this home, because that is what it is, a home. My dad is not the most sociable person, but he loves to read. When there is an event on, he is always invited, but if he doesn't feel like it, he happily sits and reads or sleeps. Before he moved in he had this miseries that everyone would just be sat in a room half asleep. He was so, so wrong in this belief, there are so many activities arranged for residents, they can be kept busy socialising, or in his case not often, but supported to do what he wants to do. He loves the home, great weight off of my shoulders. The food completely to his taste and we can't praise enough the staff. They are friendly, helpful and always have time to chat if that's what he needs. I would highly recommend this home, I have great confidence my dad couldn't be anywhere better. Thanks.
the staff are very friendly and helpful. They gave Mum care, privacy and dignity while in their care. Mum was very happy there and that means the world to myself and my family. We can relax knowing that she was safe and well cared for, there was someone there 24/7 to meet her needs. Mum's room was good. Mum enjoyed all the activities provided, especially when they had the music afternoons. The manager's door is always open, especially if you have a query about anything.
There’s nothing bad to say. Standards are extremely high, and all staff are very approachable and pleasant, to residents and visitors alike. It’s good to see maintenance and upgrades happening when visiting. The food looks nutritious and delicious, especially celebration cakes. There is a good variety of events in which families are more than welcome to participate with loved ones. Any concerns have been dealt with promptly and professionally.
I can honestly say my dad was very happy in Balhousie Monkbarns Care Home, the staff there are great and very welcoming. The staff put on activities which were voluntary, the zoo, the circus, a football match to name but a few. His room had its own bathroom with shower. Meals provided daily. Pool table downstairs, which my dad loved, he would play card games and dominoes etc. with his friends. A kitty is kept for all residents and topped up by relatives for haircuts etc. Highly recommend Monkbarns.
Our visit was wonderful from start to finish. Very friendly staff, who couldn't do enough for residents and visitors alike. The place is very clean and well-maintained.
My dad has now been in Balhousie Monkbarns Care Home for nearly 4 months. Has taken him a long time to settle but with the amazing care and patience of the staff he's starting to enjoy living there. Dad is looking forward to being able to go and help in the garden. I have struggled with Dad being in a care home but all staff are amazing not only to Dad but to myself. I have had bad days leaving Dad but the staff are all so supportive. The manager's door is always open for me and she is so supportive when dad sees her they always have a laugh which is great to see and which Dad needs.
My mother has been a resident of Monkbarns Care Home since March 2020. I am very happy with the care and support that is provided by the very professional staff in my mum's unit. They update me every visit about how my mum has been and phone me if my mum has had any health issues and falls etc. My mum is a very private person and prefers to stay in her room, mainly because she is hard of hearing but does not accept it. The staff try to involve my mum by introducing her to new residents and always invite and encourage her to join in with all the activities that the staff lay on for the residents and they leave it up to her to decide if she wants to participate or not. I was very impressed with the way that the staff managed the home during the worst part of the Covid restrictions by keeping the residents safe and well and in contact with me and the rest of my family. They have even done separate meals for my mum as she is very stuck in her ways with what she eats.
My mum passed away at Christmas 2021 after a short illness. It was all a bit of a shock for our family as it happened very quickly. The staff in Monkbarns "Fraser unit" were fantastic. They offered support and kindness to us and Mum throughout the whole experience. One lady needs a special mention; she went above and beyond to help us through it. She was on duty the day Mum died - thank you.
My friend is always very happy. Staff and manager are helpful and friendly. Overall, just a wonderful place.
The staff are all friendly and they go above and beyond. They are always cheery when I visit. The place is spotless and they take food care of my mother-in-law. I have peace of mind that she's cared for.
I have nothing but praise for anyone that can work with the residents in care homes. I am very satisfied with the care my mum receives and the friendliness and dedication of the staff. My mum is very well looked after and appears to be happy with the care she receives.
My mum was looked after extremely well at all times. I was always kept informed of her health if there were any changes. The staff were extremely professional both with my mum and any visitors she had. The staff always had a smile on their faces and nothing was too much trouble. Made my mum's last few weeks very happy for her and for the family.
Mother has been a resident since February 2020. Staff are all excellent. Cannot praise them enough. Kept informed all the time. I visit every week, and the staff are always welcoming.
My mum moved into the care home just before lockdown. While recognising the COVID-19 situation has brought significant challenges for everyone, I know from personal experience of interaction and communication with staff, and feedback from my mum and sister, the staff have worked hard to keep all the residents safe and virus free while ensuring relatives were kept up to date and informed about the management of COVID-19. Also, very importantly, they reported on the effect this was having on my mum’s physical and mental health. In the absence of family being able to be present, I have seen how the staff have really helped my mum to settle into Monkbarns Care Home at a very difficult time. I have every confidence the staff have my mums’ best interests at heart and treat her with dignity and respect. My mum talks fondly of the staff and I too, have personally found them to be both professional and friendly. Thank you all for the care and kindness you show to residents and family.
I am very pleased with the care and support provided for my mum. The staff go the extra length there, care and activities. They have a lot of fun with her.
During my mother's 6 years in Monkbarns, I found the staff on the ground very helpful. They kept me notified of anything that concerned my mum as I did not live locally. They were very approachable and always happy in their work (although at times appeared very short of staff). Activities were available on a regular basis which a lot of residents enjoyed.
Over the last few months, I have seen a lot of my dad's own personality return, I put this down to the excellent care given by the Monkbarns team. When I visit, I am so happy to see how my father is looked after. He has such a good relationship with all the staff, the caring attention he receives from this dedicated team is second to none. My father has always been a sociable, active person and because this has been taken on board dad's overall health has improved. Dad takes part in many activities and enjoys the regular entertainment sessions. He seems to be so happy and more contented. The visits with our dog go down a treat with residents and staff. I am always kept up to date and informed of dad's health. The staff have taken the time to get to know my dad as a whole and not just as someone with dementia, which shows that this home is very much person-centred with the staff having residents care a priority. I would recommend Monkbarns to others with relatives in need of residential care.
An excellent care home where my wife resided until her passing away. Wonderful staff, good service, very helpful, a perfect choice. Would recommend it to anyone considering, well worth a visit. I still return on a regular visit with my assistant dog Oscar who has been trained to help people with dementia and I am always welcome by the excellent home manager, who is a caring devoted person to her job and has a well-run care home.
I just wanted to say what a fantastic job the manager and all her staff did for my mother in law when she was a resident. This lady is the interim manager at the moment. We as a family feel it would be extremely silly if Balhousie didn't employ her as their full-time manager. This lady has a wonderful way with residents, families and also the staff that work alongside her.
