View Full Details of Pitlochry Care HomeWonderful Care Home whose team went above and beyond for our mum during her recent respite stay. Our mum is not the most patient of people but the team handled the challenges she provided with nothing but kindness and compassion at every turn. The entire team are a credit to the company.
Dad's first 4 weeks have been amazing he has been made so welcome and well looked after. He has settled and seems happy which makes it easier for us the family.
I am very happy with the care my parents are receiving. They are very quick to pick up and deal with any healthcare issues that arise. I found all the staff exceptionally friendly and very helpful. Having my parents here means I can be a daughter again and not their carer.
The home seems more relaxed and happier, with staff having more time for the residents. The new management is very pleasant and easy to talk to. There is more entertainment for the residents, and there’s always more to do. My son has had a stroke and is happy in Balhousie, but he could use help with his speech, as he gets frustrated because he's not walking - his legs are not good. A big difference, and it's for the better.
I and my family found Balhousie at Pitlochry to be a very special place. My mother received such wonderful care there during the last few weeks of her life. She was treated with dignity and respect and every effort was made by all the staff to encourage Mum to live life to the full in spite of her physical limitations. Mum was so impressed with her room, it was far superior to the one she had had in a previous care home. Each health issue that cropped up was quickly and efficiently dealt with. We are so very thankful to each member of staff who not only cared for my mum but for us during the last week of her life. We will never forget it.
The staff are very helpful, good range of activities provided for residents. Some communication issues, which now appear to be resolved. Key worker's role not yet clarified which hopefully aids a more knowledgeable person-centred approach. Regular laundry service is appreciated but items can be slow to return (eg 2 weeks plus) Good standard of cleanliness and fixtures and fittings. Mum feels well supported, safe and treated with consideration.
My mum moved into this home in May 2024 and as a family, we have been very happy with the care she has received. The staff are caring and attentive. Communication is excellent and staff are quick to inform me if there are any issues/falls etc. to report. They are also very approachable when I visit, should I need to discuss anything with them. We are very grateful for the care Mum is receiving.
As well as 'wife of resident', I spent 2 weeks in Pitlochry for respite. Seeing it from the other side was an extremely pleasant experience. Food, cleanliness, supervision were all exemplary.
My Father was admitted on 20/07/2023 and my brother and I met the management and staff on the 21st. They were genuinely interested in knowing my Father and helping him settle. They remained in regular contact with us as his health declined. I spent most of the last 3 days at his side. During this time, the staff were kind and compassionate to him and me. He passed peacefully and with dignity thanks to their care and concern. They gave me exceptional support throughout, for which I am forever grateful.
I had to move my 78-year-old dad from a terrible care home in September 2021. The manager and all the care staff helped the transition at the end of Covid time when everything was still up in the air, which made it very heartwarming. My dad has dementia and doesn’t remember all the time. Not only did I get to have window visits, but through time, all the bruising and bad temper tantrums from his previous care home are now zero. My dad is clean and has regular hair cuts and regular shaves. His clothes are clean, and so is his room. Every single member of staff that I have to deal with is just welcoming and caring like family. My visits are so nice; I can chat with Dad and have a cuppa too. Having a residential doctor on hand is also a huge bonus. As my dad approaches his 80th birthday, a time when his memory is getting worse every day, I have total confidence in all the staff that look after him. Thank you, Balhouse Pitlochry.
It was my mum's 91st birthday, and the staff went out of their way to make it a lovely day for Mum, and I thought they should be recognised for this.
My husband was transferred from the local hospital to Pitlochry Care Home a week ago. I wasn't allowed to visit as the 14 day quarantine was on. However, when I pointed out that this rule had been changed on 8th September I was allowed to visit which reassured both me and my husband. Very good care.
The care my mother-in-law received was always of a very high standard, with plenty of staff on call and available for any assistance necessary. She was always treated with dignity and respect and staff took the trouble to get to know her as a person and could chat to her about family when we were unable to visit. There always seemed to be a good range of activities available even if she did not always want to take part, and often we were encouraged to join in when visiting which made us all feel part of an extended family. The meals always looked appetising with a choice of traditional and more adventurous cuisine. The facilities were always well maintained and cleaned to a high standard.
All the staff are good, no comment about anything, just keep up to good work, Thank you for everything.
Was great to finally be able to see my Grandad. The staff were great, reassured me that not only would my grandad be safe, but that I would be safe when visiting. They were very good in terms of cleanliness and the Covid test ran smoothly. I wouldn’t hesitate to back again. The member of staff at the reception was lovely really makes visiting the home great and my wee girl loves to see her.
Balhousie Pitlochry Care Home staff went above and beyond in the ways they provided for our relative over the eight years they were resident. They are to be commended for the care at all times and especially over our relative’s final days and for the sensitive and considerate way in which they helped the family visit during this sad time. Our family are extremely grateful to all staff involved.
Mum was well cared for whilst in Balhousie Pitlochry. The staff were caring and friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable. In Mum's last days they made sure she was comfortable and not in any distress. Can't fault them at all.
I commend the home in the work they have done during this covid pandemic keeping those in their care safe. If there has been a problem I have found they have dealt with it. The home is clean and tidy and there is a caring atmosphere with most of the staff. The only area needing to be addressed is the food. Often the puddings are inedible due to still being frozen, This could easily be addressed. My friend has capacity and this should be acknowledged.
During the two years, my husband has been a resident in Pitlochry they have the most wonderful staff and management to be in charge. The cleanliness is superb, food and laundry the same. Because my husband has been so happy (most of the time with dementia taking over) it has elevated my worry about him and helped during Covid. I know he is being very well cared for.
To date, I am very satisfied with the care provided. The care and empathy of the staff who I feel have done a wonderful job during the Covid problem.
