View full details of Balloo HouseDue to a bowel problem, my mother was taken by me to the Ulster Hospital on Thursday 11th Dec, and following tests was admitted for observation and a course of laxatives. She was due out on the 15th but the owner of the care home requested an assessment of my mother. The owner turned up at the hospital to inform my mother that she would not be allowed to return to the care home. This was an arbitrary decision made solely by the care home owner and not based on a medial assessment by any of the hospital staff. The staff on the ward were shocked at this turn of events. For a lady, six days short of her 91st birthday and in the run up to Christmas to be told she needed to find a new home was very distressing. She is now reliant on the hospital to accommodate her until a suitable nursing home is found. She also has to be assessed by social care, before she can be placed in a nursing home. Balloo House management has behaved appallingly with a total disregard for the distress caused.
Was very fortunately to get my parents into Balloo House at the same time. Mum is EMI and Dad has major health issues, although still lightly mobile. What a blessing to find Balloo House with nice surroundings and facilities, very caring and professional staff, and a very helpful manager. I have no qualms and feel that my parents are in an excellent facility, especially as I do not live locally.
