View Full Details of Sir Samuel Kelly Memorial HomeMy mother has been in Sir Samuel Kelly since just before Christmas, and we are absolutely inspired by the care, ethos and feeling of respect in this wonderful place. There is an incredible atmosphere in the home, and it's not a bit unusual to find residents singing and smiling and playing games. They help each other, and my mother has bonded and made friends with many of the residents and all of the care team. The care is so conscientious, the cleanliness is impeccable, and the presentation of all the residents, all beautifully dressed with the in-house hairdresser, is a huge bonus. Our family couldn't rate Sir Samuel Kelly more highly, and we feel blessed to call them our family now.
Thanks very much for looking after Mum for the last two and a half years. Your staff are absolutely fantastic. My mum has been looked after so well. Facilities are top-notch, and all the activities that are laid on with so much thought really do fill their days up nicely. We were very sorry to have to say goodbye when she was transferred to a nursing home recently. Thanks again.
Friendly, caring staff. Very clean and tidy environment with plenty of activities and stimulation. Care excellent in a pleasant situation with a very welcome Christian ethos. Family and friends are always welcome, and opinions are sought. A partnership in caring.
“I want to go home” - a phrase which I have understandably heard more often over the last number of years since Alzheimer's progressed. Mum has been living at Sir Samuel Kelly Home for six months, and I have realised, as cliché as it sounds, it is the people who are there daily showing love and care - not just to the residents and to families but to each other that make it home. What I did not anticipate was for Mum’s home to ever again feel like my home. As I left a recent medical appointment with Mum, feeling hopeless and deflated, all I wanted to do was “go home”. I wanted to go somewhere with my Mum so that we felt safe and I could let my guard down, where we were free to be ourselves. This is when I realised that Sir Samuel Kelly felt like home. Mum is well cared for and kept busy. She has clean clothes on every day, her hair is kept in the style that she is used to, and her room is spotless. The staff are joyful and repeatedly forgiving. There is joy in being home.
My aunt has been in Sir Samuel Kelly for the past 7 months and we have been delighted as a family for the care she has received during this time. The staff are professional, caring and quick to respond to her needs. Their communication with us as a family has been excellent. The rooms are spacious, bright and well furnished, each with en suite facilities. The communal areas are attractive and well thought out. We could not recommend Sir Samuel Kelly highly enough.
This care home and all staff are simply brilliant. My wife settled very quickly (she has dementia) and has even improved her language a little. She is extremely happy.
My Mother-in-law only spent the last 6 months of her life as a palliative care resident at Sir Samuel Kelly. Never before have I (or my Husband) witnessed such genuine love, care and compassion from every single member of staff. It was her (and our) wish that she should pass away in a place where she felt safe, treated with dignity and surrounded by love. To that end, her care plan was drawn up and reviewed regularly as her disease progressed. With the assistance of medical, community and hospice staff she was conscious and pain-free in her last few days. The staff at Sir Samuel Kelly appear to be employed on a strict code of ethics and it shows.
Although my husband, was in an advanced stage of dementia during his residence here and his behaviour was very challenging and fraught with complex difficulties, the staff at Sir Samuel Kelly met every complication that was entailed in his care with consummate professionalism, competence and dignity and addressed each and every difficulty and need that he had, as and when it arose. I cannot thank them or praise them enough for their all consuming attention to his comfort, welfare and well being at all times. Sadly for us as a family, due to his advancing dementia, he now requires nursing care and his care needs will have to be addressed elsewhere. With grateful thanks to my 'Little Army of Angels' who will always have a special place in my heart.
Pastoral care and dementia care of the highest standards! Dad has settled in so well and his condition, health and wellbeing have improved markedly in only 6 - 7 weeks due to the care given by the staff.
My mother's dementia condition had worsened over the previous year, and thoughts of her next stage were foremost in out thoughts. Being accepted into Sir Samuel Kelly Memorial Home was a blessing for all of us. The care and attention my mother received have been first class. After a long hospital stay, and information received from doctors, physios and nursing staff suggesting my mother would be limited to her bed, our despair was evaporated when staff from Sir Samuel Kelly Memorial Home visited and assessed my mother's condition and agreed to take her back to try and improve her mobility. These three weeks had given my mother some dignity and self-respect back. Some people read or hear bad news stories about Elderly homes. The time my mother has spent at Sir Samuel Kelly Memorial Home has been a good news story the whole way. All staff are passionate and caring about their roles in helping their residents deal with continuing to be who they are. I can't recommend Sir Samuel Kelly Memorial Home sufficiently enough to give it the credit it deserves.
Sir Samuel Kelly Care Home has been a saving grace for our family. The staff are all amazing and so genuinely caring. The environment is calm and creates a "home from home" experience. My mother settled very quickly and I feel reassured knowing she couldn't have better care. I'm just so glad we found it.
Always a welcome and staff are very helpful. The patient was having a cup of tea and I was offered on.
I am very happy with the care and attention my mother receives, she is happy and content and feels secure. I do feel her room could be dusted and cleaned a bit more often, otherwise no complaints.
The best place I've ever seen. My father is cared for and loved by all the staff. He is content and happy in the place. The staff are amazing and the care is first class. There are activities for everyone of every ability. The home is clean and tidy and the food is fantastic. As a family member of a resident we are told that the home is my father's home and they are the guests! we can make ourselves coffee and tea which just adds to the homely atmosphere a great place.
My father has vascular dementia and was in a mental health hospital before his placement at Sir Samuel Kelly. Dad had limited communication and interaction, now he is content, aware of his surroundings and people. He is taken on outings to farms, museums and to the steam railways as well as seaside resorts. The facilities and staff are fantastic. I honestly trust all the staff 100% with the care of my father. The staff are friendly and know move my dad and his little ways than I do. I know he is happy and content here and he is really in the best of care.
