View Full Details of Abbcross Nursing HomeVery caring staff who don't find anything to much trouble. Always a happy atmosphere when impacts on the patients. Cannot praise them enough. The staff always seem to be on point when it comes to the patients wellbeing. Always tell us if our father is not himself. My sister and I feel our father is safe in their care.
My mum loves the family feel of the Home all staff are very kind and friendly and food is very good and her room is lovely clean and bright. The garden is well maintained they have a greenhouse and most of the residents are encouraged in the planting and growing of the plants and vegetables
She was extremely unwell when she arrived at Abbcross from King George hospital. Prior to her arrival she was not keen on living in residential care. However the management and staff soon worked their magic on her and it wasn't long before she made up her own mind that Abbcross was the place for her. She has gone from strength to strength and is now part of the fabric of the care home, making friends with residents as well as the staff. We can't thank Abbcross enough for what they have done for her and wish everybody associated with the care home much success going forward.
I can not speak highly enough about Abbcross Nursing home. The way the staff support and care for our Aunt is above and beyond what we imagined. Since she has been here she has become alive and enjoys her time here and does not refer to her life prior to living at Abbcross. As a result of the treatment and care she receives has given comfort and peace of mind to the family. The staff and management are so caring and interact with the residents all the time and nothing is too much trouble. Thanks to all.
Abbcross Nursing Home in my eyes are the Gold standard in nursing care with compassion and kindness. My dear beloved mum spent her final 6 months here, she was safe secure, loved, clean, happy socialised and cared for, and we as a wider family could sleep at night knowing mum/nanny was safe. Her final weeks days and hours were handled with compassion, dignity, and great medical care and we were able to stay as much as we wanted and were looked after so kindly. Every member of staff care, I cannot champion this nursing home enough to anyone. I have great lasting memories of my mum's happy safe days here and am forever grateful.
My Mum has been so happy since being here. It's been a long time since we've seen her smile. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The food is great. I personally will be popping in to visit a few residents.
Mum spent her final days here. Thank goodness, such respect dignity and care, not only to Mum but the whole family. We cannot thank this home and the staff enough. Thank you.
My mum has Alzheimer's and was treated like family from the moment she went to Abbcross until the moment she left six weeks later. The large lounge with nearby food area is particularly welcoming for both residents and visitors. It is also where the nursing point is located. Family can visit any time which was very helpful indeed. Particularly impressive is the fun way that all different staff get involved in celebrating events. Thankfully, the manager patiently and regularly explained the discharge to assessment process, which as a family we really appreciated. All nursing, healthcare, housekeeping, catering, estates and work experience students were open to any questions I had. Nothing was too much trouble. Abbcross staff and management are open, friendly, professional and caring doing an invaluable job in an underappreciated sector. Well done, keep up the good work.
Absolutely amazing Nan was only there for a week before passing but the home and staff were absolutely incredible. She was treated with compassion and dignity right until the end. They are angels that work in there.
No complaints at all, very helpful, staff would recommend without a doubt.
The care has been amazing, the carers go above and beyond, always greeted with a smile. My mum was very happy and relaxed. The manager was very approachable, never too much trouble if you needed anything. The food was freshly cooked on the premises and a different option every week but always fish and chips on a Friday which my mum loved. All in all, I would definitely recommend this care home.
Abbcross may not be the fanciest nursing home in England, but it is quite likely the most friendly family run of its kind. All the staff are welcoming to residents and family alike. They treat residents as if they are their own parent of grandparents. The management seems to be always striving to improve their methods and facilities beyond the already high standards they offer. My mum's and my experience of the management and staff was a wonderful combination of compassion, professionalism and understanding from the moment we got there. The first thing Mum said when we'd settled in her room was 'I feel safe here, can I stay?' Sadly, they have a waiting list, so Mum can't stay beyond the assessment she was sent there for. All I can say is, if you can get your loved on in there, you will be delighted to know how well cared for they are.
Very pleased to have chosen Abbcross; the staff were personable, courteous and helpful and that helped us focus on making Mum's final 17 months comfortable, safe and nurturing. A number of the staff were upset by her passing and this shows just how welcoming Abbcross is. Also because it is a smaller home with fewer residents than most it meant that Mum was able to see familiar faces and hear familiar voices more often than not. The food seemed varied and of good quality. She was checked on regularly and her personal care needs were always considered when necessary. All of which made it easier for us to focus more on being there for Mum in the final months of life.
I spent several weeks here following a long time in the hospital. For my treatment, I mainly had to stay in bed, laying specifically on my side, so couldn't really take part in any activities. The staff are very friendly, caring and helpful, as are the management and security. The food is excellent - they have a very good cook and helpers. She even comes to check with you during the morning about whether the lunch is suitable for you, which is wonderful. The room and building are warm and cosy, even without putting the radiator on.
A mediocre nursing home. The rooms are small and dingy. Catering is very limited, my mum had mainly a toasted cheese sandwich for dinner eventually. No activities run as advertised on the Havering Care Homes website. Very poor management decisions. My Mum was admitted just before Christmas during which residents were not allowed down into the lounge for a period of 2/3 weeks (on account of Covid for this entire time). On the upside, some of the staff seem very pleasant, and personal care for the most part was well seen to. I would have given at least 3 stars for this, but with the stresses experienced there by both myself and my frail mother, I couldn't get her out fast enough.
All the staff are wonderful. They are kind and caring and nothing is too much trouble for them. They do everything they can to help regarding the care and comfort of my husband.
Since my mother went into Abbcross Nursing Home she has been given the best care. She is always clean. The staff are very hard-working, helpful, friendly, and very approachable. There are lots of activities for residents and we always feel welcome when we visit. It is a well-run and well-kept care home.
Mum arrived at Abbcross for rehabilitation the day before her 90th birthday. She was made to feel very welcome and special on her big day. Nothing was too much for any of the staff who were all very polite, attentive and respectful of her care needs. She was very sad to leave and move to permanent care elsewhere. As a family, we are very grateful for their care and support during her stay.
My wife's 90-year-old mother had a short stay of 10 days at Abbcross Nursing Home after a long stay in hospital. She was in a well-decorated single room with a TV. The management and staff were all approachable and excellent in their approach to the residents who were treated with kindness and respect. There was no meaningful restriction to visiting times, all of the residents' communal areas could be accessed. The quality of the food, which was cooked on-site, was excellent. There are physiotherapists and an occupational therapist in the home who do great work, something my mother-in-law gained greatly from. I have no hesitation in recommending Abbcross Nursing Home to others, great care is provided by every element that makes up this facility.
My mother spent several weeks at Abbs Cross following a broken hip operation, I cannot express the care, compassion and kindness she received from top management down. This home is run by a compassionate manager and therefore staff are valued which shows through the kindness, respectfulness and person-centred approach they take with their residents. This nursing home excels in every aspect of care and nursing. Residents have a voice and staff tune into individual preferences so that the very best package of care can be offered. This Nursing Home not only cares for its residents but works closely and supportively with extended families to ensure everybody connected with that resident is fully included, through kindness, compassion and respect. Personally, I think this Nursing Home should be used as a centre of excellence for other nursing homes that wish to improve their policies and practices.
