View Full Details of Abbotsleigh Mews Care HomeMy Mum has been in Abbotsleigh Mews for 3 weeks and she has Dementia, she is very frail and has just suffered a stroke (her verbal communication is now very difficult). She is in the nursing and Dementia unit. The Manager and staff are all compassionate, caring and empathetic with my Mum, who can sometimes be very difficult due to the dementia and frustration of being unable to communicate easily. My Mum is being very well cared for by the friendly and helpful staff, who are all amazing. It is with great relief, that my Mum has now finally found the care that she so desperately needs, when asking anything of the manager/staff nothing is too much trouble. There is no comparison with the care provided for my Mum in Abbotsleigh Mews compared to a previous care home where the care was very poor.
My Dad has been at Abbotsleigh since Dec 24. He has dementia and gets very anxious. The activity coordinators have gone above and beyond to reassure him and get him to be involved in activities, which is making him feel more settled.
I am happy with the care my mother is receiving under the circumstances her condition is not exactly reversing. She seems to be comfortable, the care home is warm and clean. The staff are polite and friendly. I do feel at ease any questions the staff are happy to answer.
My wife has been in Abbotsleigh Mews since September 2023. She has Alzheimer's disease and is now nonverbal, immobile and unable to reposition herself so prone to bed sores and unable to feed herself. She can be uncooperative with the staff. As you can imagine she needs 24-hour intensive nursing. The staff do an amazing job anticipating her needs as she is unable to tell them if she is in pain or hungry etc. She is nursed on a bed with an airflow mattress and If sitting out in the lounge, she sits in a Kiltron chair which has inbuilt pressure relief. I have full confidence that she is receiving the best care available. The manager since she started last Autumn has created a lovely friendly atmosphere in the home and the staff work well as a team. They have amazing patience with the patients. Sometimes when I visit, a carer will be in the room holding my wife's hand and blowing her kisses. I know she is in good hands. Thank you everyone.
My father has been in Abbotsleigh Mew Care Home for 7 years. We are very happy with his care and the treatment. Nurses and staff are very caring. We have never had any problems or worries regarding his care and treatment. Although my father's illness has progressed the care he receives is excellent.
The staff at Abbotsleigh were amazing. My Dad was in Calvin House for 18 months where he was looked after so incredibly well. He especially enjoyed the dancing and the singing. When he was unwell, the staff rang me and kept us informed. As well as caring for Dad, the staff were an amazing support for me. Dad spent his last month in Macmillan House and they were also very caring and attentive. The care that they gave my dad and me during his last days was unbelievable and very personal. They showed my dad respect until he left the home, it was very touching and something I didn't expect. Thank you all so much.
My experience of visiting Abbotsleigh Mews on numerous occasions is that whatever day or time I visit all of the staff are kind, thoughtful, caring, and very helpful. The residents are cared for and supported in so many different ways. Their care is amazing and so reassuring, my cousin despite her health condition is happy with the love and care that she receives. All of the staff are lovely and amazing.
My partner is in Berens House She is being wonderfully cared for under the exceptional leadership of the unit manager who is very supportive of the staff, residents, and from my experience the relatives of the residents. BUPA is very lucky to have a manager of her quality. I am very impressed and happy with the care home primarily due to the wonderful care being provided to my partner. Thank you.
Mum has been in home for just over 2 years. Staff were very helpful in supporting us to receive funding so that Mum is able to continue to live in the place that is now her home. She particularly enjoys the gardening clubs and planting in the beautifully maintained grounds. It is very reassuring to know she is safe and well cared for.
Abbotsleigh absolutely outstanding! My dear mother was a resident at the home for 10 months June 2023 - March 2024, sadly now passed. All staff gave their time, professional care and support. Always happy, which helped Mum get through her last journey. Even when they were too busy, they would be there for her and also when we visited. Nothing was ever too much trouble. We made use of the private lounge, where we could entertain Mum on special occasions. (Which was kindly decorated). The gardens are kept beautiful, Mum loved her gardens so this was special to her. Entertainment was always fun, which helped Mum and others laugh and move, dance and sing. I personally felt whenever I left her, Mum was in the best hands. Thank you to all staff at Abbotsleigh.
Mum has been in Abbotsleigh Mews, Calvin House since January 2024. The staff all work so hard, constantly watching and attending to every resident's needs with genuine care. Mum is late stage dementia and is sometimes difficult in her behaviour and is often confused but I have never seen a harsh word or impatient action, well done Calvin House team.
We have visited the care home on a few occasions. The dedication from the staff amazes me. The care that the residents receive is excellent. It's lovely to see and you come away knowing your loved one is being looked after and in the best way possible.
This is the first time Mum has been in a nursing home and for someone who is fiercely private and reclusive I am amazed to say I had to go and find her the other day! She was in the dining room where she was served a green tea. The team and the home itself have surpassed my expectations. She has midstage dementia and already I can see the difference in her. It's a wonderful team on all levels and I feel reassured that she's happy and cared for. Thank you.
Staff are very friendly and are helping Mum and family in any way, making Mum feel as comfortable as possible and she is enjoying her stay here.
As a family new to the home home we are very pleased with almost every aspect. Dad is well cared for and if we ever have any concerns we feel as a family we are listened to. Dad said he loves the home and is happy. At the moment we know medication is being reviewed for the best way Dad can get a good nightly sleep without being drowsy the next day. One staff member in particular is the epitome of care.
My mum has been a resident since August 2023. The staff have been fantastic, they are all so caring and are looking after my mum incredibly well. Her room is always clean and they ensure she is treated with respect and dignity. She has vascular dementia and at times becomes anxious and confused, they always reassure her and comfort her when needed. Knowing she is being well cared for and in a safe environment is such a relief and support.
I wanted to take the time to write and say how grateful and happy we were to secure a space in Abbotsleigh Mews for my dad. My dad has been with yourselves for nearly six weeks now and we have nothing but praise for the loving and caring way he is looked after by every single member of staff at Macmillan House. He seems so happy and settled. My dad is hard of hearing but everyone makes an effort to chat with him and include him in everything! It is so refreshing to see how dedicated the staff are, they always seem to go over and above their job roles. I would like to make a special mention to one staff member and the way she always seems to bring a smile to everyone’s faces not only the residents but the families as well. As well as seven other staff members but to be honest all the staff I have met provide care and support of the highest standard. Thank you.
My father has been at Abbotsleigh Mews Care Home for over two years. He is safe there. He is well looked after. His needs are well met. He gets plenty of fresh air and is engaged and entertained. The home has beautiful grounds and is clean and maintained with care. The staff truly care about him for which I am immensely grateful.
My father was staying at Abbotsleigh Mews Care Home between September 2022 until he died there in March 2023. He had Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer’s and was looked after incredibly well by all the staff. They were very kind to him and also my mother who visited regularly. Both rooms he had looked out onto the garden, were always clean and suitable for his needs. We had looked at several homes before deciding on Abbotsleigh Mews. We cannot thank you enough for your kindness and compassion shown to us all during my father’s illness.
I would like to offer all the care home staff my, and my family's, profound gratitude for how they cared for my father who had dementia. He spent six months at the home, initially in the facility for mobile dementia patients and then in the one for those who were bed-bound, had limited mobility. His care really was exemplary as was the kindness and love shown towards my mother on her regular visits. Dementia is such a cruel disease but all the staff provided care and support of the highest standard. Sadly my father died last week but, given his dementia, it was as peaceful and compassionate a death as it could be. During the days leading up to and on his death and in the months before, the care home staff demonstrated humanity at its very, very best. And for that, we are profoundly grateful. Thank you.
