View Full Details of Barleycroft Care HomeThe care given to my mother by the staff is exceptional. They treat my mother with love and empathy in what is sometimes a challenging environment. They listen to any concerns or worries that I express in relation to my mother's health and well-being and go the extra mile to help.
I've been here for seven months, I have found that I feel better in myself. Staff have helped me to bring my sanity back. I feel that once I have a prosthetic leg, I will be good to go home. The new manager is very understanding and helpful. She is one of the only people in charge I have found it's easy to talk to.
Overall, I find the care received has been fair to good. The management team find care easy to get on with, polite and helpful.
My amazing mum has been a resident here for the last 11 years. We have a great team of nurses, carers and managers. I visit Mum daily and participate in her care, and they work as a team with me! I have no issues with the home, and to be honest, some carers are incredible! Mum being here has enabled me to continue working and get quality time with Mum as well. Food is always good with great choices and when Mum was eating solid food, I used to join her for a lovely Sunday roast lunch! And for only £1.00! Mum is 97 now and on a puree diet, but they cater for her with no problem!
If you really care about your loved ones please do not send them here, my mum was a resident there for a few weeks and I can honestly say, that the home was filthy dirty, you wipe your feet on the way out. They had mice in residents' rooms, the food was like slop and the majority of the staff were rude, the residents were not properly cared for, minimal activities, residents spent most of the time in their rooms like prisoners. Even Social Services were aware of the mice being in the home back in October 2023. I am so glad I moved my mum out of here.
The staff were always helpful and friendly towards my father and family.
My mother came to Barleycroft Care Home from hospital after spending several weeks at hospital. She was quite distressed as the new home was all so different to what she knew. Mum seems to have settled in well. The staff have been kind, caring and supportive in helping make Mum's next part of her journey with dementia and less mobility.
My father went to Barleycrofts from hospital after having a stroke. When we got to his room, the bathroom light was not working. It remained like this for a week without anything being done. We raised this with staff and also with management. When I asked how my Dad could use the bathroom at night, I was told my Dad could use a torch or a member of staff could use the light on their mobile phone. The lounge contained mice. There were mouse droppings at the back of the chairs in the lounge. At various times, I saw up to 5 mice running around the lounge. At dinning time, food was often left on the floor for over an hour and there were puddles of liquid left on the floor which were not dealt with. It was a slip risk. The food was mediocre - an example of one dinner was sausage rolls, some salmon and a sandwich! I discharged my Dad after a week as I felt he was unsafe here with the bathroom and also with liquid on the floors. I would not recommend this home to anyone.
If you care about your loved ones please think long and hard about sending them here! Cleanliness is non-existent with crumbs/food often on the floor from days before. Spilt drink and water on the floor in communal areas are a slip hazard for the elderly and visitors. Furry friends in the shape of mice running around in the lounge area, no doubt due to the cleanliness of the place and I am not just talking about one! Reported on two separate visits but still remains the same with the response it will be looked into. I left a dirty towel on the bathroom floor in the room of my relative and that was still present after 2 days. The sooner I can get my loved one out the better and give him back some of his dignity. Expecting a 81-year-old man recovering from a stroke to use a phone torch in the toilet for days on end due to a broken light! The place is drab and depressing.
All staff are very friendly and do all they can in what can be difficult circumstances. Residents are treated with respect and are monitored carefully. They don't force anyone to do anything they don't want to. I know my mum is safe and well looked after.
On exiting the lift we could unmistakenly hear my mum in full voice, singing the Christmas songs playing out on the TV in the day room. The staff are very attentive, always greet us with a smile and I feel they are looking after my mother well. Thank you all for your hard work, it certainly doesn't go unnoticed by us.
Since my friend has been in your care, I can't fault the way she has been cared for and looked after. She is clean, fed and watered and safe. Although she wants to go home, it is not allowed, she is in the best place.
We have had some issues with the turnover of staff and also the food given to Mum. The staff have been very open to listening to our concerns and addressing them. Overall I am happy with the way our issues have been addressed. Regular changes of Mum are now excellent, friendliness of staff has improved a great deal. The overall atmosphere when visiting has improved too.
Good care home. Staff are helpful. Food looks good. Rooms are kept clean.
Barleycroft Care Home is a very nice care home. The staff are amazing and the management are the same. Nothing is ever a problem and our dad has always been well looked after here. Thank you to all the management and staff.
My nan is in this care home after being moved from one close by. This is by far the best one I've visited. The staff are so caring and supportive. The home manager is very welcoming also. My nan is so happy here and I am also knowing she’s being taken care of with love.
I have visited my friend on different days of the week. I tried to be open-minded about the service and the high demands of what is involved with caring for individuals. I feel my friend's personal care lacks attention to her needs and dignity. On occasion, her hair has not been washed or combed or smells clean. I have never seen her teeth in, they have been in the bathroom since she arrived at Barleycroft Care Home. I know this is correct by the unflattering photo on her door. My friend constantly complains that when she is bathed the staff use the same cloth to wash her body then her face. This comes under the policy of respect and dignity, regarding hygiene and personal care. I find each time that I visit the room is full of bedding on the chairs and floor and pillows on top of cupboards that can fall on top of her. Health and safety.
(4-7-22) I had an excellent day at the fete. That was due to the carers and volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure everybody enjoyed themselves. They were outstanding.
I visited my mum on Sunday 1st May 2022. She looked so well and so happy. It’s so lovely for her to have the company of the other service users there. The staff team are absolutely lovely mum said she was so happy there which was so wonderful to hear, as my brother and I really love our mum. So to everyone at Barley Croft Care, thank you so much.
