View Full Details of Carter House Care HomeCarter House is a very well run care home. All the staff are very caring, attentive and professional. I know that all my mum's care needs are met and I can trust them to look after her. She is regularly seen by a doctor too which is very reassuring. It is also very clean. Thank you to everyone.
Carter House is such a well-run care home. I am confident our mum is happy, well looked after and in safe hands. The staff here are truly amazing and work so hard. The staff interaction with the residents is truly amazing, and as a visiting family member I am always given such a warm welcome. There is always so much for the residents to do thanks to the activity co-ordinators, who ensure that all residents are included in the various activities. Unlike many other care homes where staff turnover is constant, here at Carter House they have a steady group of staff. Thank you to everyone for making us, as a family, feel confidence in her care.
When my husband entered the care home 18 months ago, things were very difficult for both of us. Thankfully, after several weeks, things changed dramatically for the better. All the staff are always pleasant, polite and caring. It is a wonderful atmosphere to walk into. Staff not being available some weekends to answer the call bell for entry. Also, sometimes there was no-one at weekends to take a phone call from the office in the morning, when I tried to phone around 9.30am. Thankfully this problem has now been resolved. I have nothing but praise of all the staff, whatever their role.
There are not enough words for me to use in order the praise the care my relative received from Carter House. Every single person from the cleaners to the customer services manager afforded him respect, empathy and kindness. It would be wrong for me to single out anyone because everyone was a credit to the care home. I will remain forever grateful to each one of you. You made a very lost gentleman (because of dementia) feel he was home and he quickly settled in because of your patience.
I would like to thank the great staff team at Carter House for the lovely summer fair/party they held last Sunday. The staff pulled out all the stops and every resident had a smile on their face. My mum thoroughly enjoyed herself. The weather was great, the food delicious and the music from the weekly musician was fantastic. Thank you everyone.
From the moment my sister moved into Carter House in April 2024 we have been very happy with the way she has been cared for. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them day and night. They keep us well informed of everything she does and although she does not yet participate in a lot of the activities, I am sure as time goes on she will.
A beautiful care home with a beautiful garden. All staff make you feel welcome. Family member is happy and content living at Carter House. They have made friends with other residents and enjoy his weekly arts and crafts and quiz morning.
Mum moved into Carter House in January and is happy and well cared for. It was a relief to find a home where I felt she was in good hands with the caring staff. Everyone at Carter House is always helpful, and friendly and updates me when I visit on how Mum is doing. She celebrated her 100th Birthday in February and the amazing effort that was put into arranging her party was incredible, from decorating the room and the delicious food and cake made it a memorable day for her and the family. The whole team makes sure she is included in activities if she wants to participate. I did a lot of research to find a care home that was the right fit for Mum and that I could trust to take care of her. I am particularly impressed with Carter House and the head nurse who has helped Mum since her move, suggesting a different bed and pressure mattress given her falls in her previous home. The food is nutritious and Mum loves the coffee.
I've not had an issue with any of the carers there they are doing an amazing job with my mum, looking after her really well. Keep up the good work guys and just like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Carter House Care Home is a place I would tell anyone about. The staff are very friendly and caring, always close to hand in case needed. The home is all clean and tidy. My mother was in Carter House as a respite user and she loved it and chose it as the place she wanted to stay.
I've been very happy with my mother's care in the last eleven months since she moved in. The facilities are lovely and clean, the gardens are nice and, most importantly, the staff are great. I feel total confidence she is cared for well in my absence and any issues or changes are quickly and clearly communicated. Everyone at Carter House Care Home has made a tricky period much easier than I ever thought it would be.
Things seem to be picking up a bit now but over the past year and a half my father has been in there so many changes of staff etc. You really need to steady the ship as they say, but yes, I can see a bit more active stuff going on and also make sure to keep loved ones updated. Okay, thank you.
Staff are caring and are always available. My father is very comfortable and relaxed in this environment. The care home seems very clean and tidy. The only problem I have is that on a hot summer's day, the common room can be very hot and uncomfortable.
My auntie has been at Carter House for about 18 months. She has been assessed by social workers, and they have all said she needs nursing care. This has been going on since December 2022, and I’m still no further on. I ask when I visit about what’s happening, and all I get is she has been assessed. The staff I talk to on her floor are very nice, and I know it’s a hard job and my Auntie can be difficult. The manager doesn’t seem to stay long, there have been two different managers since my auntie has been there.
The atmosphere of the home is good. All staff are friendly, smiling and helpful. The carers 'pop' in on a regular basis. I understand that the night staff are equally good. The food is adequate, but not very appetising (according to my husband). Activities have been restarted after the lockdowns. Visitors are always welcome.
My mother-in-law had to become a resident at very short notice following two falls. She was assessed at home quickly and went in for respite but has subsequently decided to stay permanently. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and act on any requests quickly and are very accommodating. They treat my mother-in-law with dignity and respect and listen to her needs.
Staff are welcoming. Occasional problems with communication which can be confusing for residents. I have been unable to visit recently due to illness, so feel unable to comment further, although I hear that new activities have been organised and enjoyed by residents.
Initially, when my dad moved as an interim placement resident I was apprehensive but soon after my reservations were put at ease when the friendly and hard-working staff have been super busy, good and have really done their bit in getting him medically optimised and at 92 that's no mean feat, the facilities are great too. So now we seemed to have gotten through the winter I'm sure the residents will look forward to some fresh air and trips away from the care home which should further enhance their well-being. And finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at Carter House Care Home for their ongoing great work.
Excellent care for my mother since she moved to Carter House Care Home. The carers are very good and go out of their way to look after her. They treat her like their own mother. The meals are also very good and my mother appreciates them. Mental boredom and the need for more activities is the only challenge.
Hi, All appears to be in good order but until recently there was not enough staff around. I would also have to point out that at weekends it is difficult to get into the building as no one answers the bell - you have to rely on a member of staff passing through and this is not good enough....sometimes there are overlong waits which are totally unnecessary.
