View Full Details of Chestnut Manor Care HomeMy father came to Chestnut Manor Care Home for respite care while my mother, his usual carer, recovered from surgery. He was, to be honest, reluctant to come. However, the staff did everything they could to make him feel welcome and at home. He made friends with other residents and joined in some of the activities. He also enjoyed the food, which was of a high standard. Should we need further respite care in the future, we would definitely return.
My mother's care was exemplary. She attended for respite care. The home is bright and modern. The interior is of a very high standard and the ambience is calm. My mother's room was bright, clean and airy. Meals were in an upbeat dining area where residents interacted with each other. A daily schedule of activities stimulated residents. The best aspect of Chestnuts Manor Care Home were the caring and professional staff at all levels. My mother was treated respectfully at all times. My sister and I, as visitors, were welcomed with kindness. Should my mother require further residential care, we will definitely be back without hesitation.
We cannot fault the care and attention that the management team and staff play in making my father's respite care stay, the best we could ask for. 110%! The team take complete worry away from our lives from the moment we drop him off. The facilities are 5 star and the level of cleanliness and attention to detail is second to none. We would not have dad stay anywhere else now, and we feel that the service is top class and the team work tirelessly for this to work. Everything is of the highest quality such as the food, entertainment, trips out, the bedroom facilities and accessories. It's a delight. Dad is treated with kindness, care and dignity always. Nothing is ever too much for the team. Thank you for caring for him so well.
My Mother has been at Chestnut Manor since its inception in the Autumn of 2021. She has severe Dementia and has many complex needs that over a period of two and half years have been handled skillfully. She has also been treated with much care, kindness and generosity of spirit. It is a testament to all members of staff from management, nursing, caring, catering and reception that my Mum is still here and has had a quality of life, she otherwise wouldn't have had. All the staff have my heartfelt gratitude, thank you.
My friend moved here 2 months ago. She needs a great deal of care and assistance with everything. Staff go out of their way to help her and to communicate with her. The staff are kind and caring and look after residents very well. Clear clinical management structure, manager approachable and efficient. Any minor issues are dealt with promptly. Stable relationship with GP practice which conducts weekly visits. Facilities are excellent, always clean and tidy. I am not responsible for payment of fees and so cannot comment on value for money.
My father came to the Chestnut Care Home last week. His legs need attention weekly due to having serious ulcerations- the team was amazing starting with removing the dressing followed by giving my father the most amazing shower, he was in heaven! Finally, both ladies applied the viscopaste bandage which is put on in a specific way - the staff member had watched the video I had sent and then applied the process perfectly! What a team - thank you.
Given the cost of care, this ranks highly when a comparison is taken London-wide. They so far (resident since October 2023) have excelled all expectations/hopes.
We are absolutely thrilled with the quality of care and quality of life that our elderly, independent-spirited mother is experiencing at Chestnut Manor. The home is beautiful, the facilities superb, the food wonderful, the atmosphere calm and happy and there are lots of varied activities and encouragement to socialise - but what really makes this home special is all the wonderful staff, from carers and nurses to housekeeping and reception. We've seen our mother flourish in an environment of real love, compassion and professionalism, where she is understood, valued and respected as an individual. We are made to feel welcome at any time, are kept informed about any issues, and always feel able to raise any questions or concerns. Our mother has dementia, so her care needs will change over the next years, but we are confident, having observed similarly excellent care of other residents with more advanced dementia, that she'll continue to be lovingly supported throughout.
We were very fortunate to find such a welcoming and caring home for our Ursuline sisters. Most of them arrived in September 2021 and settled so quickly which is a great tribute to the staff. Nothing is too much trouble. The staff are attentive and courteous. They act quickly if something is wrong and contact me if they have any concerns. The activities are well planned, great respect is given to people who belong to a faith tradition. The end-of-life care is excellent. The Manager, leads a great team.
We had a very poor experience at a care home locally, where my friend declined in health rapidly; but the care received at Chestnut Manor is of no comparison. The majority of staff are outstanding or what I like to call ‘Westlake Wonders’. The visuals are clearly magnificent, but it is the quality of care given that is of utmost importance and this is where I feel Chestnut really stands out from the crowd. The respect, compassion and kindness given is matched by expertise and professionalism. Residents also have a number of specialised resources available, alongside staff who really know their stuff. It's clear through their actions that the well-being of residents is at the heart of everything, even when difficulties occur. Where there are errors, it's dealt with appropriately and with complete transparency. The atmosphere at events is joyous and there is love between staff and the residents, with delicious food too! We're so happy at Chestnut and have optimism about the future.
My brother and I looked at many care homes for our elderly mum and Chestnut Manor came out way ahead. After spending her first delightful Christmas there, we agreed she’s in exactly the right place. We were most concerned about finding kind and perceptive care for Mum (who has dementia and struggles to vocalise needs). I’m confident that she receives that in spades at Chestnut Manor, not just from the excellent care staff, but from all the staff (e.g. hospitality, who obviously know her well, notice her preferences and always treat her with great dignity and patience). Other strengths include the imaginative programme of activities, wonderful food and the layout of the beautiful home, which manages to give a welcoming sense of community as soon as you walk through the door. I’m kept informed of any issues and know any concerns I have will be dealt with swiftly and appropriately. The home is obviously well-managed and is a happy, caring home. I’m so glad we found it.
Now that a few months have passed, I wanted to write and say thank you so much for taking such very great care of my mother. You looked after her so well for the short time she was with you, you were professional, friendly and endlessly welcoming to her and the whole family. You gave us hope and comfort at a difficult time. We all loved your home, the staff and the nuns, and are so sad that we did not have time to get to know you all better. Heartfelt thanks and 100% recommendation from our family.
Acting as POA for a friend who now resides at Chestnut Manor, it was imperative to ensure that our decision to place her there was the right one, particularly after having experienced the decline of care in her previous care home and the contrast is amazing. The facilities at Chestnut Manor are exceptional, house keeping is of the highest standard and the staff couldn't be praised more for the care and attention which our friend now receives. The staff is not only very professional, but also treats its residents with utmost compassion and dignity, which is so important for the well-being of each individual. Our friend has visibly improved so much - both in appearance and overall generally. The staff couldn't be more attentive and keep us informed at all times, which is extremely reassuring and gives us peace of mind knowing that we undoubtedly made the right decision placing her under Chestnut Manor's care. Thank you to all the staff for all you do - we really appreciate it!
For us, Chestnut Manor is a very different experience to other care homes. Firstly, the decor is more akin to a 4-star hotel. The environment and staff were immediately welcoming and soothing, which was a great comfort to us at a difficult time. Our mum was received at Chestnut on discharge from the hospital, following a nasty fall at another care home where she was receiving respite care. Her injuries were life-changing and we were finding it very difficult to cope. Our confidence in the care system was low. That changed in an instant at Chestnut from her assessment, her intake, up until now, Mum has received first-class care. Every member of staff treats Mum with compassion, understanding and dignity. Care is tailored to her individual and changing needs. Nothing is too much trouble, for Mum or us. Ironically, although she is very unwell, Mum looks better than she has in a long time. This is holistic compassionate care at its very best. I wish it was the standard, not the exception.
My brother-in-law received palliative care at Chestnut Manor in January 2023. Despite having several complications with his ailing health, no request was too difficult for the wonderful staff at Chestnut Manor. They looked after him and all of us during a very difficult time, we will never forget the compassion shown by the floor team and also everyone else we encountered.
Staff are always attentive. Friendly atmosphere. Knowledgeable in the service they provide. The care team are always attentive to Mum's needs and benefits well from the care she receives. Always know that Mum is being well cared for. Top-end care home and always lovely to visit.
My friend has been in Chestnuts Manor Care Home since August last year. She is a 95-year-old lady. The care she has received has been exceptional. The staff are very attentive. There is always some sort of activities each day for her to go to if she is up to it. I, myself, have had a good rapport with the manager as well as the staff. It is a high standard of cleanliness. The food is very good also. I cannot praise the home enough.
In the spring, my mother had a whole series of medical problems, ranging from pneumonia to repeated bouts of cellulitis. During this time, between hospital visits, she stayed for several weeks at Chestnut Manor Care Home. I can’t speak highly enough of the staff who gave my mother first-class care during her stay. When some of the health issues flared up again, they dealt with it with tremendous resourcefulness and persistence. The result was my mother was seen very promptly by doctors (including one visit in the middle of the night) and was able to start on her medication within about twenty-four hours or less. My mother benefited enormously from her time at Chestnut Manor. It gave her a chance to literally get back on her feet. At the same time, she realised she wasn't quite ready to go into permanent residential care. Now, she is back in her own home and doing well. The whole family are delighted she has been able to resume the life she knows and enjoys. Long may it continue!
I cannot praise the Chestnut Manor Care Home more highly for the care they have provided for my wife who suffers from dementia. She was admitted to Chestnut Manor in January this year, 2023. Since then, she has received outstanding care and understanding from everyone involved in her well-being. All the staff, carers and nurses, their colleagues who provide the catering and daily activities, the receptionists and others whose tasks make the Chestnut Manor such a welcoming care home. Their professionalism, tolerance, understanding, friendly greetings, nothing seems too much trouble and always with a smile. This care has brought great relief to my wife and all our family. A credit to a well-run home and its management.
After a trial two-week stay towards the end of last year, my mother made the permanent move to Chestnut Manor Care Home in February. She has had health issues since she moved in and the nursing care she has received has been excellent. The care and love that the staff have for all the residents is beyond doubt and it gives you peace of mind knowing that. There is a constant program of activities and everyone is made to feel part of them, even if they are restricted on just how much they can take part. The food and options are amazing and in line with a quality restaurant and that includes presentation and service. We actually call it the hotel when we talk to Mum because to us it's more like a luxury hotel than a care home. Forget all the pre-conceived ideas of what a care home is because this is the future and the model everyone else will be aiming to copy, just because you get old there is no reason why you should not still enjoy life and Chestnut Manor does everything they can to make that happen.
