View Full Details of Chestnut Court Care HomeI am very happy with the care mum receives - everyone is so friendly here at Chestnut Court Care Home.
My Mother was admitted to Chestnut Court Care Home on January 29th 2024. She was sadly at end of life care. My first impression with the home was how great the reception team was, but I could see that the home is in urgent need of some refurbishment, the carpets are a mess and the paintwork is shabby. As for the carers there is a great deal of inconsistency and at times I felt that my mum was a hindrance as she constantly needed minor things like cups of tea, being sat up and needed extra blankets as she felt cold. I must point out that most of the carers were helpful but a good few seemed to think that as she was at end of life care she don’t need these small comforts. Some carers/nurses bed side manners were non existent and at times rude. It also was evident that those who were self funding got special treatment as to those who was state funded.
My mum has been here for about a year and the care and attention she received is top quality. The staff are patient with her and have taken the time to get to know her personality. I feel content knowing that my mum is being well looked after which is a weight off our shoulders.
We couldn't have wished for how wonderful all the staff have been, I'm actually going to come back to see the administrator, as she has been so lovely to me.
So far, the care that Mum requires is being provided. All the staff have been amazing and answer any questions I have.
We love to say thank you for helping my dad through his care and really being a home from home.
In the short time of my mum being a resident at Chestnut Care Home, it has been a breath of fresh air compared to previous care home carers. All staff are all very accommodating in every way. So, thank you for looking after my mum in these late years of her life. I feel comfort knowing she finally has the care she deserves.
My wife passed. My experience at Chestnut was excellent, from the reception to the carers and nurses that looked after her. Very satisfied, will miss them all.
My mum was very happy at Chestnut Court and did not want to be discharged. The staff at Chestnut are very good and the home was home away from home.
My friend was well looked after the time he was here. He was given a lot of freedom with us. We also had the privilege to feed him, he realised a lot people loved him, staff and visitors.
My experience of visiting my friend was short but sweet - it was a joy to be able to spend quality time with him, to get to know all the lovely, caring staff and to be there to feed him the exceptional food that he loved. He loved to laugh right to when his life ended, he's now at peace sleeping - loved him.
We would like to express our appreciation for all the staff at Chestnut Court. Our friend was very happy here and he received dignity and kindness from all the staff. Thank you so much for the support of the family too.
My grandmother is getting good care and is happy here. My only criticism is that it needs decorating and new carpets. Her nurse and carers can't do enough!
My 97-year young mother is frail and unfortunately, has been falling over regularly as she forgets to ask for help when she needs to get up from her chair. Consequently, she has hurt herself several times in the last month and required paramedic, ambulance and hospital treatment. The staff at the care home have done all they can to minimise the risk to her safety but as she has dementia, she forgets she needs to ask for help. The care home staff have been wonderful but do not have the resources to provide one-to-one care so they engaged with myself and the relevant safeguarding personnel at social services to arrange for one-to-one care to be provided. Whilst this has taken several weeks to happen it has now been authorised and funded by social services. Hopefully, now my mother will be safe when she needs to move around the home. Many thanks to all at Chestnut Court for your ongoing care and support of my mother.
It's a shame our loved one reached this stage of life. And I can understand family members do find it difficult to look after family at this stage in life. However, I also admire the care professionals being on hand - and this gives us peace of mind, knowing our loved ones are in good hands. Thank you.
More activities are needed for the residents. Each member of staff has their own rules for visitors to the care home. There are no set or known set rules. The attitude of some of the staff is appalling. Have seen a member of staff leave a dirty tissue on a table whilst giving the table to another resident.
Chestnut Court was so welcoming to my friend from the moment she arrived. They allowed us to make her room look like home by putting up her pictures around the walls. Every member of staff was kind and thoughtful and really made her life special in her final days. They honoured her and when she passed away treated every family member and friend with great respect. I will be forever grateful that a space was made available for her in her final weeks.
Since being on the second floor I have seen such a difference, I feel much more settled in myself because I know the care and attention my partner is getting is so very good.
My mother has been a resident for the past four years. I looked at a lot of homes before settling on Chestnut Court Care Home. From the moment my mum entered I knew it was the right decision. From the reception staff, manager, cleaners, cook, laundry lady, entertainment staff, hairdresser, carers, head carers, sisters, again carers, everyone had my mum's welfare at heart. I was always welcomed when visiting, nothing was too much trouble. I could get an answer to any queries I had or a nice member of staff would call me later with the answer or update. I was kept informed of all things related to the wellbeing of my mum. Covid did nobody any favours, we all know that, but I must applaud the staff for carrying on in the face of such troubling times. My mother passed recently but I am so glad she got to spend her final years in such a caring "home", the best home in Dagenham.
Excellent all round. From start to finish. Supplies, staff, cleanliness, friendly staff. Everyone I encountered is helpful. So pleased with visit, all ran smoothly. Resident looked and was in the best health I have seen her. Very happy.
