View Full Details of Derwent Lodge Care CentreThe staff are great, very clean environment. My uncle likes it there. He’s treated very well, in very good hands. Great communication between staff and family. I love the app. Thank you guys for your hard work.
Derwent Lodge is a friendly, well-run care home. My husband is well looked after each and every day. All the rooms are always very clean and smell nice. The meals are very good too. The entertainment has been great, please could we have more of it now we are over the restrictions of COVID. It would be nice to offer days out, perhaps more happening in the garden in the summer, for relatives to be able to have lunch or dinner with their loved ones. I would definitely recommend Derwent Lodge.
Derwent Lodge Care Centre staff, of all positions, are to be highly praised for the job they do, care, entertainment and interacting with residents.
Derwent Lodge is an excellent care home. The staff are friendly, caring and engaging and do all they can to assist and support my father, who has been a resident at Derwent Lodge for over two years.
My mother has dementia and is bed bound and has high needs. She has been a resident for around 15 months, and I pestered the council for her to be moved to Derwent Lodge from a different care home in the borough initially because it was located closer to her house and her more elderly friends could visit her. However, from my first visit to view Derwent Lodge, I knew this would be the best place for my mum. There is a general warm and calm feeling about the place and little touches like wallpaper in the corridors, makes it feel like a 'home' and not a care centre. In my opinion, the staff (and not just the carers) are at the heart of this. The level of care my mum has received and the information and contact I get about my mum's welfare and health is beyond my expectations, as none of us, including relatives, knew what to expect. The staff make me feel part of their small 'community'. They always offer help and support when needed and always give a smile and a sense of calm normality. Thanks.
My sister is very happy, she is very well looked after and the staff are very kind and caring. I have no worries about her.
My husband is a resident and we as a family are so lucky that not only is my husband treated with kindness and wonderful care by all staff we are also well supported. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff - so thank you!
Mum settling well. She does frequently exercise. She is very happy and grateful for the care that she received from all the staff.
Staff are brilliant, very friendly ad willing to help. I am in no doubt in leaving my mum in capable hands. Couldn't wish for a better nursing home. Food is great, it's always clean in every area I have been in.
In 2020, I faced the challenge of finding an appropriate care home for my mother during the COVID lockdown. Despite the inability to visit potential homes in person, I engaged in extensive telephone discussions with managers from various facilities on my list. Ultimately, I chose Derwent Lodge, and I am delighted to report that the care provided to my mother has been exceptional. The home is very clean, promoting health and safety, with a good variety of meal options and resident entertainment. The staff treats residents with genuine compassion, dignity, and respect. During my weekly visits, I witness laughter and smiles and am personally made to feel like a part of the family. The carers are exceptional, and the nurses are incredibly helpful when I have any questions and provide regular updates on my mother's well-being. Most importantly, my mum is happy there. I wish to extend my gratitude to everyone at Derwent Lodge for the wonderful care they provide to my mother.
Our experience as a family has been outstanding. My mother has been in Derwent Lodge for about 3 years and myself and family have always received regular updates regarding Mum's health. Staff are so friendly and engaging - it really shows how much of a bond they have with all residents. The activities they provide are fantastic, everyone from staff to residents and visitors are involved.
My father was a resident of Derwent Lodge for a little longer than 6 months. He was transferred to Derwent Lodge from a different care home, where he wasn't treated well at all. The care my father received at Derwent Lodge is above excellent. All the staff looked after him so well, I never had a bad word to say. The carers are amazing, the nurses are so friendly and above helpful, always happy to stop and talk and give an update. If any concerns were raised to them, they would straight away deal with it, without questions asked. The residents are treated with dignity and respect. My father sadly passed away 2 months ago, but I will forever be grateful to everyone, from carers, nurses to management for looking after my father like no one ever did before and for making the last few months of his life as comfortable as they possibly could. Thank you to everyone at Derwent Lodge from the bottom of my heart, from Mum and myself.
Derwent Lodge Care Centre, where my mother-in-law has been living for the past 5 years. The living accommodations at Derwent Lodge are well-maintained. The rooms are clean, spacious, and equipped with necessary amenities. The home also offers various communal areas for socializing and engaging in activities, promoting a sense of community among the residents. The medical care and support provided by the nursing staff at Derwent Lodge are commendable. They ensure that mum's health needs are met promptly and professionally. Additionally, the staff is readily available to address any concerns or queries that arise, making communication process smooth and reassuring. Furthermore, I appreciate the efforts of the management team in maintaining open communication with us. Regular updates and periodic meetings are organized to discuss care plans, any changes in medical conditions, and to seek feedback on the overall care provided.
Mum went into the care home in January 2021, a very difficult time, when visiting was not allowed. From the start we were kept up to date with Mum's care and kept in touch with her through phone calls and video calls with the Wellbeing Coordinator who throughout has made us feel included and reassured. All the staff are friendly, caring and efficient. Mum is happy being part of the Derwent Lodge family.
I've come to visit my brother and always find the staff very friendly and welcoming. The home is clean and the food is good. Overall I'm very happy with the home.
I have always found Derwent Lodge Care Centre to be a very friendly, welcoming home. The food is very good with regular drinks offered. The rooms are cosy am clean. Overall very happy with the care given.
Derwent Lodge has been so caring and friendly - open with all things that are going on with my care. The facilities are of a very good standard, staff and management with all the support that is available. Food very good standard.
The current management team do an amazing job of creating a team who works together for the benefit of all residents. Each individual's care needs are met, their well-being considered, and families kept involved and listened to.
Staff have been very helpful in accommodating my mother's needs, especially given that this is a care centre, not a rehab centre. Her only complaint is that hot meals are often cold by the time she is served. I have noticed a very friendly attitude from all staff to residents and visitors. The centre is very clean and tidy.
My wife has been suffering from the sad illness of Alzheimer's and has been in Derwent Lodge for almost 3 years. We were made welcome from the first day which allayed my initial trepidation. I have nothing but admiration for the staff and management for their dedication which goes beyond the call of duty. Care of residents is foremost but the welfare of families is also considered. I casually remarked that our Golden Wedding Anniversary was imminent. Come the day, her room was decorated, cards from the staff and a cake for us. Totally unexpected and a lovely surprise. The Standard of care, food and cleanliness is very good. Coach has been provided for outings which sadly have been curtailed because of the pandemic.
