View Full Details of Elmstead HouseWonderful improvement. Lovely to see he has a TV in his room. He now listens to his radio before he was agitated, and not engaging but now there is much improvement, and a pleasure to see my family member happy,
from November 2024, I have noticed and experienced a change in care towards my father and other residents and how they are treated. All the carers rally round the residents in all needs. My father is now settled and Elmstead is like a second home to him. The staff are very attentive and responsive to his care needs.
I am very happy about the care for my wife. She is very happy in your care.
My interactions with the staff at Elmstead House ranging from the Manager, and Assistant Manager to the day-to-day carers, have only been positive. The staff clearly take pride in their work and look to ensure residents are well looked after.
Elmstead has provided my 93-year-old aunt (who has mixed dementia) with consistent, stabilising care that has helped her recover from several serious chest infections and falls, all of which included short spells in hospital. The staff have always informed me immediately of any problems and I appreciate this as her Next of Kin and Legal Deputy. I have also been carefully supported by senior staff in the sensitive and emotional area of end-of-life care planning which has been so reassuring. Recently my aunt celebrated her birthday and the staff made a special effort for her by making a lovely cake and her favourite chocolate mousse. It was such a treat for her. There was also an entertainer who sang songs including Happy Birthday. We are all very grateful to the staff at Elmstead for their kindness and care. They go the extra mile.
I felt relieved to know my dad needs were being looked after. Needs like ensuring end of life plan is in place and adhered to, so that my father is not in pain or uncomfortable. Also, when his hearing aid went missing, the home helped him get new one from the NHS. Since moving to the home, he has definitely become more sociable spending time in the main lounge.
Pleasant atmosphere with staff ready and willing to assist when approached with a request. Mum's room is bright and clean and she seems to have settled in well. The activity coordinator is always trying to get mum to participate in any activity she arranges which is much appreciated.
We chose Elmstead for my father as we liked the feel of the place and there was a lot of activity in the main lounge. It's generally a warm and clean environment and my dad appears to be very happy here. He always looks clean and well presented. His best days is when the activity manager is in and he is kept busy and engaged in drawing, singing etc. Any concerns are always dealt with professionally with the nursing and management team.
My friend has been at Elmstead House since June 24 and her care needs have always been met at a basic level, but the approach to her care needs has not been proactive. Thankfully after a three-month wait my friend is able to get out of bed as her adapted chair referral has finally been fulfilled, she is taken to the lounge every day to join other residents and be part of the many activities organised by the home, which has been a massive boost to my friends mood, wellbeing and quality of life. The Manager is very approachable and friendly, as are all of the staff, they have also been very good at contacting me to advise of any health changes. I have rated the overall experience as satisfactory for now, but the day-to-day is improving for my friend now when the shower chair and wheelchair referrals are fulfilled and she is able to have a proper shower and hair wash and be taken outside for some fresh air, my overall rating of Elmstead House will improve accordingly.
For the vast majority of time, I really do like Elmstead House and the people who provide the care for my mother. They do such a great job. My only frustration is in the evenings when I get home from work it is difficult to get put through to my mother on the phone when I call, as there is no phone in April Lodge. I regularly have to phone 2-3 times to get through.
We know it was not always easy and we know it was not always fun. Thank you so much for being the ones who looked after our Dad in the last stages of his life. You listened to every need that my Dad had and every request that we the relatives made. You offered compassion, time and care. The entire team our wonderful and always goes the extra mile when we are there and when we are not there. Even during the hard times, your care never changed and this helped us immensely. The team truly went above and beyond the call of duty. You made my Dad's life worthwhile and kept his spirits high until the end. You offered him a safe and happy home and that meant everything. You helped my mum and provided her with whatever she needed when she visited my Dad. In addition, the love and support that we all received made this a home from home. We know the words are not enough but hopefully, they will make you see just how much we appreciated you all and that goes for all my family. Thank you.
My mother has only been at the home for a few months, but I have found the staff to be especially friendly, caring, and who treat the residents with respect and dignity. They are supportive of the family and keep us updated on a regular and timely basis. I feel that my mother is safe and well cared for.
Everything is lovely at Elmstead, it’s a very warm and friendly place for residents and relatives all staff are very friendly. A fantastic place and gives me peace of mind knowing my dad is well cared for 24/7. My dad has expressed he would like to go out on day trips as he is a very outdoors person. He would love to go out and do activities which we as a family can’t do as we don’t have transportation to take my dad in a wheelchair but he is desperate to go out and see the world that’s the only drawback.
My mother is treated with compassion and empathy and patience. The staff are exceptionally kind in the face of often very trying circumstances. The peace of mind, knowing that she is cared for so well, is immense. This has not been an easy journey for my mother or me, yet made so much more bearable by the love and understanding of the staff at Elmstead House. Thank you.
Everything very good. No complaints.
I am really happy with the level of care received at Almstead House. The staff are always helpful and supportive. My mother is in a safe place at her care home and I know that the manager and its team take safety for the elderly very seriously.
My father stayed at Elmstead for a few months following a fall. The whole team have been wonderful, always making that extra effort to help where they can. It was not long before Dad became well known by the team and there was huge mutual respect and kindness. Dad was not just a room number but made to feel more special by the team. The entire management and reception team were also very diligent and made sure that the admin side was up-to-date and we were kept fully informed. Well done to everyone.
Our mum has been at Elmstead for over eight years. During this time her care has always been very good and more importantly, she has always been very happy and settled there. The current intake of staff have improved the overall standard of care, in our opinion, and are extremely good at what they do. The staff's compassion towards our mum for her and us on her recent passing has been warm and sincere and has made this awful time a less traumatic experience for us. We are very grateful to everyone who has contributed to our mum's stay here, not just the care and nursing staff but the domestics, laundry, kitchen, maintenance and everyone else who has contributed to making Elmstead a safe and happy place for our mum to live in over the years. We thank you all.
Found to be very competent. My mum and dad are in rooms together and this is wonderful. Staff are good and friendly.
The nurses have been very nice to my mum and very supportive anytime I am there. Even my mother seems very happy and made her look very presentable. They also call me as soon as there is any change in my mum’s situation. Thank you nurses for taking good care of my mother.
