Gibson's Hill, Streatham, London, SW16 3ES
View Full Details of Gibson's Lodge Nursing HomeThe care home is situated in a picturesque spot. The staff are plentiful, friendly, helpful and efficient. Residents are treated with respect, great kindness, and an affectionate attitude. The care home, though not 'posh' in presentation is, without fail, kept extremely fresh and clean. (Freshness is genuine and without chemical smells). My Mother has been a resident for 4 and a half years and has been kept safe, well cared for, and happy throughout. Residents here suffer mainly from old age and dementia, so probably unsuitable for those needing stimulating conversation.
I was the power of attorney for a dear friend who had dementia and Alzheimer's and spent over two years at Gibson's Lodge Nursing Home. In all the time, and many visits I made, I was always extremely happy with all aspects of the home. Their care for my friend was exemplary, both physical, and in terms of dignity/kindness for someone who had a very difficult illness. Everything was done to a superb standard and the staff, to a person, were kind and caring, not only to my friend, but to the other residents. It is a job few could do or do so well. The management also had many difficulties to deal with and again they were always professional and I can only praise them and their hard work for my friend. Perhaps the only improvement might be to the physical building, which takes a bit of a battering as is to be expected, but I am sure only friends and relatives notice these things. That said, the bathrooms were always spotless as was my friend's room (and person), as were the communal areas. I cannot recommend this home highly enough.
My uncle was in the home and was cared for by all the staff. They were very friendly and helpful, and he was well looked after until he passed away. My auntie was staying there at the end of his life and is still there as she cannot stay at home on her own. All the staff are very friendly and take good care of my auntie and the other residents that stay here. I'm very pleased my auntie is there and being well looked after. I have no concerns.
My husband has been a dementia patient at Gibson's Lodge for eight years. He is always clean and well-shaven (even is his to prevent dandruff) His clothes and bed linen are clean and varied. He is totally bedridden, has to be fed pureed food and liquids. The staff are always helpful and caring. There seems to be a lot of paperwork. The home is regularly decorated and the staff try to put on entertainment for special days it is a multicultural environment without friction. There is usually a Christmas party visiting, entertainers, valentines day. Trips to the seaside, summer bbq. Lounge has a large screen for videos.
