View Full Details of Hillside Nursing HomeMother-in-law admitted a few days ago. Cannot fault the care she has been given. All staff have been fantastic towards her and always make time to answer any questions we have. It's been great to see her out of bed and joining in with the other residents in the shared lounge.
This care home is very welcoming and has a very homely atmosphere. All the staff are very polite and very helpful. I enjoy my visit as so welcoming. Facilities are very good and I'm always offered a cup of tea while I am visiting.
My first impression when my wife was admitted, and still is, the home is very secure and clean. Her single room is a good size and comfortable. There are some residents with greater needs compared to my wife, for example, aggression, verbally and physically. But staff take it in good humour and would talk them out of it. Staff are always in attendance, walking, feeding and holding hands with them. I am very pleased with Hillside including staff. In my opinion previous homes and hospitals have not wanted to accept responsibility or are not professional dealing with dementia care.
I have been visiting my friend regularly over the last month and have been so impressed with this care home. I am welcomed by cheerful and caring staff and nothing seems too much trouble for any of them. My friend is content and feels treated well with respect and care. The atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable.
Recently visited my relative who has been a resident for 4 years now. Was offered tea and biscuits on arrival and several staff members interacted with us including kindly bringing two chairs to my relative's room for myself and my husband (this has not happened before!). All the staff were professional, polite and attentive. My cousin commented that the choice of food is good and plentiful. My only complaint would be is the bedroom is rather cluttered and needs a clean and tidy (granted my cousin does have a lot of belongings) and his ensuite toilet was not operational and the light still not working which I first noted last December!
My aunt has been a resident since February 2024. I have visited a number of times and have always been impressed with how caring and helpful the staff are. Never a problem to ask them a question and my aunt has said how many things are organized for the residents. My aunt looks much better in herself and is always spotlessly clean and always seems happy.
The staff greeted me with warmth and smiles. Residents were in the common room where there was a TV and a radio on. Some residents were singing along to music. Xmas decorations were up, and my father-in-law was spotless as were the other residents. The senior nurse took time to discuss some health matters, and the main carer went with me to the father-in-law's room so that I could determine if he needed anything else. The whole place is spotless. The care staff were happy to chat with me and make me tea whilst I sat with the father-in-law. As I was leaving, some of the staff came in with a tea tray holding cupcakes decorated in the Scots flag, they had highland music on and were wearing kilts in honour of St Andrews Day. Some residents got up to dance as well. It was joyful. This home is a happy one, all the staff demonstrate a caring attitude to the residents and I know they have their best interests at heart As usual, it was a positive and productive visit. Thank you.
I found the staff to be very professional and caring with all patients at the home. Communication was excellent. I would have no issues in highly recommending the home.
My mother is currently a resident at Hillside. Whenever we visit, we always find the staff courteous and helpful. My mother is not an easy lady to handle but the staff show great patience and skill with dealing with all her needs. I would thoroughly recommend this home, don't be put off by the exterior, it's the staff inside that matter, they are 5 star.
My mother-in-law has been a resident at Hillside for a few months now and we have found all the staff here exceptional. She is not the easiest person to handle but they care for all her needs and we are very grateful. All the staff are friendly and go above and beyond to help. Thank you.
My 91 year old mother was referred to the care home by the NHS to recover from a broken leg and Covid. The initial care plan put in place was explained very well on her arrival and the care that she received throughout her stay was first-class. All the staff at Hillside were kind, considerate, compassionate, thoughtful and very attentive. Although the condition of decoration throughout the care home looked a bit tired on our arrival, a complete redecoration and refurbishment of the site was underway mid-June 2023. A big thank you to all the staff on behalf of my mother.
To all concerned, just like to say a big thank you to all the nurses and carers who have looked after my father over the last 7 months - I understand that his behaviour can be challenging at times, but they cope very well and made a big difference in his life. I have visited the care home and seen to improve my dad in general. I would like to recommend Hillside as the best place to put loved ones and I feel Dad is safe when he is living at the home. Although the exterior of the building doesn't quite like five-star hotel but the standard of care is first-rate. I am happy to see my dad smiling and have a conversation with me, this simple step shows that my dad is happy at Hillside. The manager is always hands-on for everything and always available when needed.
Hillside Nursing Home looked after my dad for 18 months. He was cared for, kept clean and fed well. Staff were helpful and kind.
I am pleased with the way my husband is looked after in Hillside Nursing Home. He is a handful.
From the day my mother moved in to Hillside Nursing Home the management and staff have been extremely welcoming, supportive, professional and helpful Nothing is too much trouble and everybody is so kind and thoughtful. My mum is so happy and I'm so lucky she is cared for by a team who treat her with dignity and empathy while at the same time ensuring she is well cared for and safe. thank you so much for all you do - our Hillside Nursing Home family.
The care my mum receives on a daily base is second to none! The staff are incredibly caring and show my mum so much respect. I am very grateful to them. Yes the establishment is a little tired looking, but the care Mum receives is great and at the end of the day Mum's happiness is all that matters. I know if ever I needed to speak to any member of staff at Hillside I can anytime of day or night full with confidence, which means a lot to me.
My twin brother moved into Hillside Nursing Home from the hospital, he settled in right away due to the staff always being there to assist him in his daily routine, so he was able to go into the lounge and sit with the other patients during the day. The home was always spotless and the other patients as well, my brother enjoyed engaging with the staff with a little bit of their own language. I cannot thank all at Hillside for making my brother's stay as comfortable as he could be with his illness.
The staff, as always, were very welcoming and friendly. My sister and I were offered tea and biscuits - always a plus! The lounge was festive with a beautiful Xmas tree. My dad has been with Hillside for nearly three years, and he is always happy. My family and I are extremely pleased and thankful for the care and attention my dad receives.
Although my relative was only in Hillside Nursing Home for a short period of time it was obvious that she benefitted from the care and attention received. At all times the staff were helpful to me and my relatives friends. Taking time to ensure that we were left fully informed throughout. It was very comforting to know she was in such caring hands.
Our family would like to extend our many thanks to you all for the love and care given to our mum. Mum came into Hillside in January 2020 and was not expected to live for very long. However, both you and the entire team made every effort to ensure our mum was safe, comfortable and well cared for. Remarkably, mum went on to live for a 22 months. We recognise the significant challenges and constraints placed on you and your team over the past two difficult years caused by Covid and government cutbacks but the Hillside team at no time allowed this to detract from your core purpose of giving the very best care to our mum. Our family are forever in your debt for the personal attention, compassion, and dignity shown to her throughout her stay up to and including her sad passing this morning. Please extend our sincere thanks to all who got to know our mum and who devoted so much time and effort caring for her.
