View Full Details of Kestrel Grove Care HomeMy husband was cared for in Kestrel Grove for only the last 12 days or so of his life. However, he was promptly assessed and admitted when he needed help quickly and was given considerate care by all staff, who worked within what seemed to me a very professional framework, well led by the care manager and deputy care manager. Good food and pleasant surroundings were a comfort. Residents I chatted to had a lot to say in praise of their care. Thank you.
Kestrel Grove is a wonderful care home. All the staff, in every department, are always so friendly, smiling, helpful and very professional. We are very impressed with the quality and presentation of food. Since moving here, he no longer wishes to go out to restaurants for meals as he enjoys the 'excellent' food provided here so much. We have just attended a lovely BBQ event today and although contingency plans had to be made, due to inclement weather, it was an extremely pleasant and sociable afternoon. Again the food was excellent. We cannot thank you all enough for helping him settle in so well and looking after his every need. You are all outstanding!
1 June to 14 June 2024. My wife had two weeks stay for respite because of necessity. She found the rooms beautifully furnished, quiet and comfortable. The entire staff were kind and attentive and willing at all times. She enjoyed 99.9% of the menu. The 00.1% was food she did not like anyway. All in all, should the occasion arise again, she would be happy to go back to Kestrel Grove.
In 2023 my father suffered a severe stroke after leading an active and independent life and joined Kestrel Grove as a resident where he now receives nursing care for his complex health needs. The staff with their patience, care and encouragement have helped dad adapt to this upsetting change in circumstances and each and everyone there tries to make his life as happy and comfortable as possible, treating him always with the utmost patience and respect. Not only are all the staff very caring and supportive of Dad both mentally and physically, but also to us as a family. Kestrel Grove operates an open door policy and management and senior nurses are always available to discuss or answer questions about any aspects of Dad's care. The Kestrel Grove team consistently deliver excellent nursing care in a spotlessly clean and safe environment with a welcoming, family atmosphere. A wide range of social activities are organised daily and the food is excellent. I cannot thank or recommend Kestrel Grove highly enough.
Fantastic care home. Since our mum came here in March, the staff have been wonderful. They have got to know our mum as a person and really care for her. They are happy for us to visit any time. Excellent at keeping us informed about her health and welfare issues. Mum seems settled and it is a great weight off our minds to know she is in good hands.
Our dad lived at Kestrel Grove for 1 and a half years. He had a lovely refurbished room which overlooked the beautiful garden and he took great pleasure in the summer months sitting outside chatting with his fellow residents and lovely staff. We only have praise for all the staff who went above and beyond to make Dad as happy as he could be. Nothing was too much trouble for them and the kitchen staff were always willing to make Dad anything he requested. They were always around to answer my many questions and never made me feel as though I was bothering them. Dad was always treated by the staff with great kindness and respect. He looked upon them as his friends and enjoyed the banter that went on. We will always be grateful for their care and am so glad that Dad was able to spend his last years at Kestrel.
My mum came to this wonderful care home 15 months ago as she could not look after herself anymore. She is very happy and feels safe here, we can visit any time of the day and we are always welcome. The food is very good and she has her hair done every week, there is an activity every afternoon which is very social, her room is lovely and warm, the home deal with hospital visits and the doctor can be called at any time, on Friday they have a drinks morning where the residents meet up. The staff are wonderful and they will help you with anything you want help with, I visited quite a few homes and I can honestly say I am very happy with Kestral Grove.
I was fortunate in finding such an excellent care home for my sister, who was was resident at Kestrel Grove for just under a year before she passed away. From the onset there was a warm and welcoming atmosphere and I felt confident that my sister, whose needs were complex, would receive the dedicated care that she required. It was clear to me through regular visits and ongoing contact with staff at at all levels over the past year that my sister was receiving exceptional care, which I know involved considerable attention and patience. My sister's carers were warm and caring - really wonderful - and treated her with great respect and dignity. Senior staff who operated an open-door policy were always accessible and communication was excellent. Overall, an exceptional care setting and one which I would unhesitatingly recommend.
My mother has been a resident at this home for over five years, she is 95 and has the brain of a 70 year old. The main thing with my mum, her body is a little frail, she has had two hip operations and that is why she decided to move into a care home. She is a funny lady with a great personality, but quite high maintenance, all the staff run around her, helping her, getting her dressed, taking her to the loo, getting her to the lounge for the entertainment which she likes joining in with. Over the years she has become dairy free due to stomach issues, the kitchen crew took this on board and adjusted her menu accordingly. When I am there for however long, even if it’s just for an hour, someone always pops in to check on her, which puts my mind at rest. I am an only child so no other help around and when I walk out I know I’m leaving her with people who care and I can trust.
Being our first time in sourcing a nursing home, you hear the horror stories and to have experienced finding a home that would take her was also a massive learning curve. Out of 60 nursing homes only two accepted my Mother-in-law and thankfully Kestral Grove was one of them. I cannot praise them enough for how they go above and beyond. The care is top tier and not only are the head nurses exceptional but every nurse/carer I have witnessed looking after her. The lady who works front of house has been amazing from the start and cannot fault her enthusiasm when going above and beyond. I hope it continues because I have recommended this home to so many people. I literally cannot fault it and I would give them 10 plus because they have that home down to perfection.
I cannot praise Kestrel Grove highly enough. My dear mum was here for two months receiving first class palliative care before her sad passing at the end of July 2023. The house is warm, welcoming and clean. The grounds are beautiful in the sunshine and very well kept. The rooms are tastefully appointed. The food is excellent, great choices and very accommodating for a changing palette, as they were for Mum's changing needs. The jewel in the crown here are the wonderful staff. They treated my mum with such great respect and care; as one of their own, be the senior nurse, care assistant or kitchen hand. They were also very accommodating and caring to us, the family, nothing was too much trouble. The nursing team is second to none, their door is always open to talk or for questions. The care givers are so super lovely. We feel extremely lucky that Mum spent her last few months in this special place. It has my highest recommendation. Eternally grateful.
My mother (ninety-seven) stayed at Kestrel Grove after an accident at home and three months in hospital. We were so impressed with everything about the home, especially the staff who are outstanding; hugely kind, diligent, patient and highly professional. Mum wanted to live back at home and is pleased to be back there, but misses the staff. The home is very well run, the premises are kept beautifully, including the grounds, and the food is very good indeed. If we had any queries or requests, the door to the manager's office was open for us. Kestrel Grove is highly recommended by our family.
Mum went from hospital into Kestrel Grove for respite with original thoughts for two weeks to help get her on her feet after a serious illness. She is a fiercely independent woman her focus was to get back home. A care plan was put into place on her arrival. The care and compassion shown by nurses, carers, cleaners, kitchen staff and activities organisers, to help Mum reach her goal was nothing short of amazing. Mum had a couple of setbacks and the very knowledgable nurses were quick to act, in fact, saved her life and from more hospital stays. Covid rules and regulations constantly changed which was a nuisance but necessary and the correct measures were put in place to allow daily visits. The house is always clean tidy and welcoming. The home owners office is at the reception desk, not many business owners make themselves that accessible - a real tell-tale sign of someone who cares about their service users. Mum made it home after 4 months, if need be she would be very happy to return.
In April 2019 following many falls at her home of 60 years, my dear mum reluctantly went into Kestrel Grove as a resident. This was obviously a difficult time for my mum, myself and my sisters. The staff with their care and dedication gradually helped Mum become more at ease. There were always activities taking place throughout the week that Mum could take part in if she chose to do so. Obviously, the pandemic was a very difficult time for all of us, but we were kept updated and allowed to visit as soon as it was possible. Mum sadly passed away in February 2022 and the care and compassion that they gave to Mum and her family made this very difficult time a little bit more bearable. I would not hesitate in recommending Kestrel Grove to others.
The care our mother received was exemplary. All the staff, without exception, are caring and compassionate. When we visited our mother the staff always made us feel extremely welcome and were very happy to answer any questions we had regarding Mum and her care. The nursing care Mum received from the home was also excellent. The staff were able to promote the healing of her infected leg ulcers which had been weeping badly for months due to her chronic heart disease. Subsequently, she was able to have all the bandages removed from her legs for the first time in over a year. When she was able, Mum enjoyed being wheeled around a very large, well-kept garden, which for her was one of the main reasons for deciding to live there. In the period when her health sadly deteriorated and she passed, in June 2022, the staff were so compassionate towards her and thoughtful of the family. We can't thank the staff enough and would have no hesitation in recommending Kestrel Grove.
Kestrel Grove is an excellent, well-run care home set in lovely surroundings within well-kept gardens. My mum originally came to Kestrel Grove for Respite, having been in hospital for 5 weeks with COVID. Unfortunately, my mum's mobility had deteriorated so much whilst in hospital that it soon became apparent that my mum would not be able to return home to live independently anymore. The care that she receives at Kestrel Grove is excellent - all staff are so friendly, helpful and caring, and nothing is too much trouble for them. Kestrel Grove is kept immaculately clean and the choice and quality of food is excellent too - my mum is definitely eating more substantial meals now than when she was living alone. The communal lounges and dining room are warm and welcoming, offering an extremely comfortable environment to relax. My mum's room is spacious and has everything she needs including television, telephone and own bathroom. There is also organised entertainment every day of the week.
After being admitted to hospital the family were determined to get dad the care he deserved at 97 and being a POW at the hands of the Japanese for 3 years. After researching and talking to a few homes in the area, the manager visited dad in hospital and for the next 4 years, 4 months Kestrel was our second home. The care dad received at Kestrel was second to none, the owner and managers have great admiration from the family in their dedication and direction they give to the team to carry out their duties so well. The past 19 months have been incredibly difficult for us all and even more so for care homes, Kestrel did everything they could to keep dad safe from Covid, however, Dad not able to see his family for long periods eventually took its toll and from Christmas 2020 we could see a slow deterioration in him until he sadly passed in July 2021. We owe a great deal to you guys for your professionalism and care for dad.
This care home is the absolute best and I cannot praise it enough. The staff are extremely attentive and caring - from the kitchen staff who prepared foods that my father requested, to the lovely cleaners and fabulous carers, attentive nursing staff and the owner. As my father's relative, I was similarly treated with courtesy and respect and the staff always offered us refreshments (free of charge) and had time to discuss my father's ailments and his condition, generally. We felt their love and support at all times. Nothing was too much bother and I would not hesitate to recommend this nursing and residential home. My father was here for 18 months and it became his home.
I cannot rate this home highly enough. The manager and his amazing staff genuinely 'cared' for my father in every aspect of his life - the love and respect his carers had for him was absolutely genuine. Indeed three of his carers came to my father's funeral in their own free time, which says it all. The support that I too received from the staff was second to none when my father sadly passed away. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them and that encompasses not just my father, but his frequent rostrum of visitors as well. All of the staff, from the cleaners and kitchen staff to the nurses and senior managers, always had a lovely smile and were full of bounce and good cheer. In an era where there is so much publicity about the abuse of the elderly, I cannot find the words to recommend this home highly enough. Who knows - when the time comes for myself, I would not hesitate to book myself in.
The care and loving attention that was given to my Mum was second to none. She was made to feel part of an amazing family that is Kestrel Grove Nursing Home. She was treated with dignity and love right to the end of the three and a half years of her residency. The Home is run so wonderfully. It is spotlessly clean and the food is amazing. My great grandmother resided there in the 1970s, my aunt in the 2000s and my Mum in the 2010's. The same family has been running the Nursing Home throughout and I cannot thank them enough. They do an amazing job.
