View Full Details of Lakeside Nursing HomeMy mum was discharged from hospital to Lakeside Nursing Home in June 2023. When she arrived with them it was not looking very positive for mum but because of their care, love and attention she then stayed with them for nearly 18 months. During this time she was looked after and cared for so well by all members of staff and management. We as a family do not live locally but we were always fully informed regarding mum's health and well being and when we could visit we were always made to feel very welcome. At the end of mum's life the staff were exceptional, treating my Mum with dignity and respect. My thanks go to all the carers, admin, activities, the managers and owner for employing such amazing staff and also attending mum's funeral. A massive big thank you to you all, you all do an amazing job.
Our mum Bridget moved into Lakeside in Sept 2023 after suffering from a stroke. Mum wasn't able to communicate verbally but the kind supportive staff members were able to understand my mum's needs from day one! On arrival we were made to feel incredibly welcome and noticed the family atmosphere and warmth from everyone there, this was also noticed by Mum's social workers and other people who visited. There are not enough stars to rate Lakeside by myself, my brother, and son's opinion. We'd give them 100 stars if we could. When it came to the end of Mum's life every aspect was handled so delicately the love and care our mum received was palpable, we cannot thank you enough for loving and caring for our mum and you will all be sorely missed. Thank you all so much kind regards.
My mother arrived at Lakeside from hospital seriously ill and not at all engaging or interested in living. But she became transformed into a bubbly, enthusiastic, engaging individual, Lakeside took care of her, physically and mentally. I visited her daily and always saw that she was clean, dressed nicely, and smiling. All the staff without exception carried out their duties diligently and with an attitude of dealing with her as a member of their own family; whether they were nursing staff, whether they were involved in feeding, personal care. Lakeside is excellent in the way they arrange activities (inside and outside) and outings for the residents; I have to acknowledge the nonpatient-facing staff for their help in enabling me (suitable wheelchair, mobility taxi, etc). to take my mother out for meetings. The staff always made the environment very pleasant for family and visitors. I am very grateful to all of them and cannot speak more highly of them.
My mother moved into Lakeside in Jan 2023, with advanced dementia and mobility issues. It is a wonderfully welcoming, friendly and caring place. There are lots of activities, bingo and choir visits and my mum was always encouraged to join in and it was lovely to see. There are also summer barbeques and various parties and I and my family have lovely memories of my mum enjoying these with us. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff, they worked so hard to help my mother feel involved and join the many activities and loved raising a smile from her. They take the time to do small things that matter - making sure my mother wore something she liked, had her nails painted and helping her eat the freshly made cakes that come around in the afternoon. When my mother deteriorated towards the end, the home was superb in keeping my and my sister informed and my mother supported. I am enormously grateful to the home and all the staff there for the wonderful care they gave my mother.
My aunt was discharged to the care of Lakeside in August 2023 after a six-week stay in hospital. We thought that she would remain confined to bed but the staff soon had her up, sitting in the lounge and able to enjoy many of the day and evening activities and events. We could not fault the wonderful care and attention she received from all the staff including the proprietor and manager, until she passed away in February 2024, soon after her 90th birthday. It was such a relief to know that my Aunt was so well cared for and I would not hesitate to recommend Lakeside and its excellent staff.
My father was moved into Lakeside Nursing Home in April 2019 with progressive dementia. From the moment he moved in the staff went out of their way to make him feel at home. The management staff and carers are the best I have dealt with since my father's diagnosis. Nothing was too much trouble and he was looked after with such love, care and attention. When visiting my father the smell of home-cooked food made your mouth water. There were always activities being planned for residents and they tried to include everyone in this, Christmas carols which all residents and visitors alike could join in. Unfortunately, my father passed away in February this year and I can not say how thankful I am to all the staff at Lakeside, they were there right to the end and they truly are angels in disguise. I would never hesitate to recommend Lakeside to anyone who is thinking of a nursing home for their loved ones.
My dad moved to Lakeside in 2021. It has a family feel about it achieved by kind and committed members of staff including management. The nursing team are particularly skilled. I am always updated on any health concerns and my questions are always answered. Lakeside is flexible when arranging visits and we are always welcomed. This particularly meant a lot to me as I wanted to trust he would be cared for and my children to feel comfortable visiting their Grandad. Lakeside has surpassed my expectations on this; I am very happy with his care and my daughter enjoys her visits, including seeing familiar staff, to her they are an extension of Grandad's family. An entertainment carer makes sure everyone is involved in some way and is made to feel special. Our favourite big event has to be the BBQ garden party! It has been a big reassurance to know that my dad's needs are being met and cared for in such a lovely environment. I would highly recommend Lakeside for good quality personalised care.
My uncle was moved to Lakeside at the end of December 2022. He has advanced Alzheimer's, and we really wanted to move him because we were so impressed with the standard of care and knew that the 24/7 nursing care was now necessary to meet his needs. Lakeside has a luxury feel to it, as well as being homely and comfortable. There is a real sense of it being a family-run place, and all the staff are friendly and helpful. My uncle has experienced several health issues, and each time, I receive a phone call to notify me immediately, he is reviewed by the GP, and Lakeside provide regular updates. I really feel reassured that I've done the best for him by enrolling him at Lakeside and that he couldn't be in a better place. Even though he has advanced dementia, I know that he is being involved in stimulating activities in a warm and friendly environment and that he is being very well cared for. I'm very thankful to Lakeside!
Lakeside Nursing Home, is a well run family home, nothing is too much trouble for them. The staff are excellent, they have endless activities for those who can and want to take part, everything is celebrated, from St Patrick's day to summer BBQs in the large garden, with traditional food for the occasion. My dad was in Lakesides care for 2 years, and in that time he looked on the staff as his family. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lakeside and its wonderful staff.
My mother, who has advanced dementia and mobility issues, moved into Lakeside three months ago because she was no longer safe in her own home. We have been absolutely delighted with her care at Lakeside. This is a lovely, family-run care home with a cosy feel and friendly, kind staff who have made my mother feel welcome and included in all the activities at the home. When I visit my mother, she is always sitting downstairs with the other residents, enjoying homemade cake, tea and the entertainment provided by the activities coordinator! They have regular events and hosted a super King's Coronation Party for residents and their families. It was fabulous to see my mother waving a flag and singing along with the local choir! When my mother became unwell for a few days, the manager rang me immediately to let me know, and the GP visited the home to check on her. It is such a relief to know that she is well cared for and happy, and we are incredibly grateful to the staff.
Mum was admitted into Lakeside in September 2022 under palliative care. Since then the care has been so good that Mum is now out of palliative care and is very comfortable in her surroundings. The staff are fantastic and the home is run extremely well. My dad visits nearly every day and the staff go out of their way to make him feel welcome. Communication between us (family) and staff including management is excellent. Could recommend Lakeside enough.
Lakeside is located in a beautiful area and is a smaller, independently owned-operation. The owner/manager, who is absolutely brilliant, is readily available and is incredibly swift to respond. Nothing is ever too much trouble for him. Equally, the staff at Lakeside are fantastic, with a genuine level of care and commitment towards their residents which gives more continuity and bonding between staff and residents. The choice and variation of activities for the residents are excellent and the menu options available are a culinary delight. Sadly my father passed away in February. He was 93. The level of support that I personally have received from both the manager and the whole team at Lakeside has been heartfelt and heartwarming. I have no reservations whatsoever in recommending Lakeside to anybody. Lakeside are open and transparent and incredibly welcoming. If you are considering them as an option, may I suggest that you go and see them for yourself. You will not be disappointed.
After a difficult lockdown experience of hospital into unsatisfactory nursing care for my father, I asked locally for recommendations. Everyone, without exception, said Lakeside. I couldn’t believe the contrast between the two. Staff are helpful, caring and make time to talk to residents. Dad soon cheered up and has appreciated the thought given to their everyday care. He’s no longer miserable and enjoys going outdoors on sunny days and the variety of activities regularly offered. Importantly he’s not left to brood watching telly for hours. This is a truly warm and compassionate environment devoted to the wellbeing of the residents. Many of the staff have been there for many years which contributes to the safe and welcoming atmosphere. It’s been a huge weight off my mind to have him there knowing there is genuine and constant care.
We had to find a care home for our mother last autumn when she had another fall at home and broke her leg. It was quite a difficult decision at short notice, specially during COVID restrictions. However, we are so pleased we chose Lakeside as our mum seems much more animated than she used to be at home. The staff are exemplary in their medical, nursing and social care and they are always available to liaise with the families. Their COVID protocols are as thorough as we could wish for, including Zoom meetings with relatives to discuss the way forward and tailoring to individual families' needs. We feel we have made absolutely the right choice in Lakeside for our mum and can't wait to meet them all in person as they already feel like extended family. Our mum's dementia does not appear to have deteriorated since she has moved to Lakeside and she now has many more activities to partake in than when sitting at home.
My uncle has been a resident at Lakeside nursing home for nearly two years. He arrived in fairly good physical health, but his mental wellbeing was lacking motivation. When he first arrived, he was reluctant to accept the friendly care being offered by the staff. After a few weeks, the changes became very apparent that with all the continued care and support, my uncle has become this happy relaxed person, he is now joining in activities, and generally looking so much happier in himself. I believe these changes were down to the personal care he is receiving, the relaxed atmosphere, and the very efficient running of the home. My uncle continues to thrive at Lakeside, I could not wish for a better place for him to remain as I know he is so happy to be there.
Our dear friend is a resident at Lakeside. The care she receives is outstanding. She is treated with patience and kindness and the staff go out of their way to make her comfortable. The food is always freshly home-cooked and the entertainment caters for all needs. Lakeside is a welcoming home which treats its patients with respect. To know that our friend is looked after so well is comforting and reassuring. We would highly recommend Lakeside if you are looking for care for a loved one.
Mum moved into Lakeside in early November on leaving hospital after breaking her leg due to a fall. We chose Lakeside because it felt like a family home rather than a hotel and because the Namaste care practised at Lakeside would suit her perfectly. The staff are wonderfully caring and treat her with respect. She hasn't complained about anyone at all - surprising as when she had carers at home there were a few she didn't like. There have been no Covid-19 cases among the residents due to their high vigilance and visiting policies. After a quarantine period I had visits in a special room with a screen and hugging curtain. Now in lockdown, my sister and I have virtual visits aided by staff. Mum has settled in well and her dementia seems to have actually improved a bit! She is more chatty and engaged. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the manager, all residents have had their first Covid-19 vaccination. Highlights: Virtual carol concert, birthday party and virtual National Theatre visit.
Our mum has been in Lakeside Nursing Home for a few years now and it has really felt like home for her and for us too when we visit. The kindness and care that has been shown to Mum, other residents and us relatives when needed is excellent. The last year, since the Covid 19 pandemic, has been trying and challenging for all care homes but I feel Lakeside have done everything they can to both keep residents safe and support the emotional needs of the residents and their families. During the last year the staff have really gone the extra mile at some sacrifice to their own lives and families. What I have always liked about Lakeside is it is a smaller home and so does feel very like family and you are able to get to know other relatives and residents when you visit. The staff are always welcoming. Lakeside have an excellent activities coordinator who really engages with the needs of all the residents. She has an excellent understanding and relationship with all of them.
At the most difficult of times, my father was taken in by Lakeside when others saw him as potentially difficult. With Lakeside's patience and care he managed to settle and grew very found of many of his carers. When his condition worsened and he became bed bound he was made comfortable and was attended to extremely well, and then as funding eventually became an issue for our family the attention and advice we received from the manager was so helpful in every way. I shall always remember everyone in the team and their truly caring attitude that was so refreshing after a nightmare stay in my father's previous care home. Highly recommended.
Lakeside is a clean, happy and homely environment. I have been very pleased with the care my father has received. Management have always been helpful and supportive. My father expressed to me not long before he died that he much appreciated the kindness and care the staff had given him. I know that they too were sad at his passing. I would highly recommend this care provider.
