View Full Details of Laurel DeneMum was safe, and really improved in her years there. She loved the girls who looked after her. I was always welcome on visits and the staff were excellent when there were health issues. The family were very happy with Mum's safety and health at Laurel Dene.
It's been a difficult week for me as my father has been in intensive care. But all the staff who look after my mother at Laurel Dene have been very supportive in looking after my mother when I couldn't visit her. She has a beautiful new room, all refurbished. Today I shared time with my mother and the staff were just so supportive. It's not easy dealing with my mother's dementia and consequently bad behaviour. But the staff have really worked at keeping her happy whilst I deal with my poor father in hospital. Thank you staff on the second floor looking after my mother.
It wasn't an easy decision to find a care home for Dad. We found the team at Laurel Dene really helpful and caring from the start when he first went for respite. He has been resident now for about nine months and we are very happy with the care he has been given. Dealing with the team has been very positive and we feel Dad is safe and well looked after now.
I have been very happy with the way my husband has been treated and his needs understood by the staff. They have provided care with patience and have a very good understanding of his problems. The level of cleanliness is very high and carried out every day. The atmosphere is welcoming and the facilities first class. The beautiful garden is a huge asset and residents are encouraged to go out and sit in the very private surroundings. The food is cooked on the premises, is varied and of high quality. I have always had any queries I have had fully answered by staff and they are always happy to have discussions.
Mum has been a resident at Laurel Dene since December 2021. Since her arrival, she has been given the best care we could wish for during her dementia journey. The staff from the range of departments at the home are very friendly and nothing ever seems to be too much trouble for them. They treat Mum with the utmost respect and the care she receives is fantastic and for this, we as a family will be forever grateful. Mum had her 80th birthday in January and the management and staff were very accommodating in allowing us to host a family gathering (approximately 30 people) in the care home to celebrate her special day with her. As a family, we are always given updates on Mum’s wellbeing when we visit along with phone calls if necessary, which gives us peace of mind.
Staff always treat my mum with dignity and know her really well. Home is in the process of being refurbished and Mum is looking forward to her new room when completed. Always asked to join in activities, it is my choice to join or not.
My overall impression of this care home during the eighteen months that I have been visiting is of the utter professionalism of all the staff who work here. There are many aspects of care involved from the nursing staff to the cooks and cleaners but everyone has quite obviously received the appropriate training and is dedicated to their role here. There is an overwhelming warmth here that pervades the whole living experience of both residents and visitors and this does not vary. A care home par excellence!
It is extremely difficult to contact this care home to enquire about residents. The phone number given is rarely answered and will ring until it cuts off. There is also no given email address. It is extremely frustrating when it is virtually impossible to speak to anyone to find out how a relative or friend is. The staff are helpful, but the diabolical phone answering desperately needs sorting out, there isn’t even a message or voicemail option! Very poor.
We moved my father into Laurel Dene in mid-January, he has Alzheimer's. From the moment we moved him in he was made to feel very welcome. All of the staff were very friendly, warm and patient. He has a small but comfortable bedroom which is kept clean at all times by the cleaning staff. The lounges and conservatory are bright and tastefully decorated. The meals always look appetising and tasty. Most days there are interesting activities provided. The garden is large and very pretty. He enjoys spending time with the other residents now that spring has arrived.
Mum has been in the care home for 4 months and is now a permanent resident. She suffers from dementia and has specialist input. The care mum is receiving is excellent, all the carers and staff genuinely enjoy looking after the residents, they are always friendly, cheerful and very helpful nothing is too much trouble. You are made welcome when you visit and mum always looks clean and well presented and it's a happy environment. We are regularly informed of mum's progress and nothing is too much trouble they all work very hard. Mum is very well cared for which is all I can ask for and there are lots of activities to keep mum occupied.
My wife has been a resident in Laurel Dene Care Home since April 2022. I have been most impressed with the care and attention to my wife. Nothing is too much trouble and all staff share up-to-date knowledge of my wife's concerns and they tell me of the way they address these concerns and seek my opinion of these. I am kept updated of any attention to her care and cannot speak highly enough of the home and staff.
Despite the challenges presented by Coronavirus, the staff at Laurel Dene have gone to great efforts to keep us in touch with our dad via video calls and more recently through a visitor pod where we can see and speak to Dad in a controlled environment with no direct contact. All staff are always polite and courteous and look after Dad well. They answer any questions we have in a timely fashion and keep us updated. They also send regular photos of Dad enjoying himself. Overall an excellent home and service. Highly recommended.
So pleased that we found Laurel Dene first, everyone has been fantastic, patient and accommodating. The staff have bent over backwards to ensure my dad has settled in. Thank you.
All though only allowed pod visits at present, these are always well organised. The pod is sanitised between visits. The staff are always friendly.
We have nothing but praise for all the staff. They are kind, caring, efficient and smiling as well as being helpful and cheerful. The rooms are light, bright and comfortable. It has a peaceful atmosphere and the grounds are lovely. The whole place is clean and well cared for.
The care and treatment received was of the highest standard. Staff were always kind and caring.
I like the atmosphere of the home and the way I am cared for each day. The management team are very kind and helpful at all times and my carers meet all my needs. Everything is done with a caring attitude. I would certainly recommend Laurel Dene
Having initially thought my mother's stay at Laurel Dene would be for a few weeks, she has now been a resident for two years. My first impression of a welcoming atmosphere, which was open, honest and unguarded has remained. I received invaluable advice and support from the home's management during the stressful, initial period. I have been impressed by the carer's compassion and good humour, the energy and enthusiasm of the entertainment team and the personal knowledge of residents by all staff. Mum's mantra was once, 'I don't want to be 90!!'. She is now, very much, looking forward to her 90th celebrations amongst her friends at Laurel Dene and with family.
Following a complex foot operation, I am having four weeks in plaster unable to use my right leg. As I am 79 and live alone I decided to move into Laurel Dene for the first two weeks. It was the perfect choice. I had a pleasant room overlooking the garden, the food was plentiful and good and the care exemplary. I was warmly welcomed and every member of staff was kind, caring, empathetic and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. I cannot recommend Laurel Dene highly enough and, if I need care in the future, I shall certainly return.
The general standard of care was good but there were issues with clothing lost and not laundered in time. Also, wrong clothing put in the room. Dad stated that he enjoyed the food.
