View Full Details of Meyer House Care CentreWe would like to thank all of the wonderful staff at Meyer House for their love, care and support to my mother/grandma in her final few weeks and days. We are eternally grateful for the dignity and love given to her during her end-of-life stay, and we know she was looked after, kept pain-free, included in the activities when she felt able, and ultimately loved by all the staff. Thank you all so much.
My mother was brought from hospital to Meyer house on 18.6.24 for end-of-life care. When I visited that day, I was very impressed with the cleanliness and professionalism of the staff. My mum's room was bright and airy. I was kept up to date about my mum's condition. Unfortunately due to my mum being unable to drink or eat, she passed away three days later on 21.6.2024. I was informed immediately about Mum's passing. Many thanks to all the staff who were involved in the care of my mum.
We are extremely happy with all aspects of Meyer House. The care is the highest standard and it is a happy and friendly place. My mum is very happy.
On the whole we are satisfied with the quality of care. Issues arise during meal times, if a resident needs the toilet. There is no sense of urgency from staff, resident becomes agitated, concerned that they will embarrass themselves in the company of others. Concerns that pad changes are not carried out regularly enough, risk of infection. The care staff are kind and respectful/ night staff are more difficult to know about. The kitchen staff are helpful to the residents, domestic staff are excellent. Activity staff are excellent. The maintenance is good but it's an old building that is in constant need of repair and renovation. The senior staff are always on hand to ensure that residents, family and staff are supported at all times. Concerns are acted on quickly but at times there can be a Lack of feedback/ information re appointments from outside agencies. The front desk staff are helpful, respectful and kind to family and residents. I apologise if I have missed anyone out.
Friendly staff, nice people, excellent service, I'm very happy with their care, very recommended my mum is comfortable and eating more and drinking more, which is a relief but her ankle is a concern with the blisters but I did see the nurse for certain cream to use but other than that everything is excellent.
Dad is happy and well looked after however some of the staff are a bit 'out of tune' to the fact that we are visiting. For example, when he is taken upstairs to the toilet he is often gone for a very long time also on several occasions he has been brought back down and taken to the dining room but the staff member has failed to tell us he is back from the loo and we are left sitting waiting. This encroaches on our precious visiting time. The kitchen staff are very good and know what Dad likes to eat and on my most recent visit, one of the staff was really good and very attentive helping Dad to eat. Thank you Meyer House for taking good care of my Dad.
After a tricky time, things are improving. The Deputy Manager was very patient and listened to our concerns and was very apologetic on behalf of the care staff, although she was frustrated that I had to make her aware of a couple of things. Overall, Meyer House is a very good care home, always welcoming and friendly. I know they all love my dad and feel confident he is well looked after.
We are satisfied with Dad's overall care. However, sometimes Dad has to wait a long time to be taken to the toilet which is quite distressing for him. We have also found nostalgic ornaments and photo frames have been broken and placed in a drawer. The breakages have never been reported by the staff. We have raised this with the deputy manager by email but to date, we haven't received a response. It's upsetting that Dad's treasured possessions are not shown due respect. However, the staff are lovely, especially the entertainment staff and a number of the long-term care staff are exceptional. Dad always enjoys the food.
My father-in-law's room is bad. His chair was very dirty stains with stale food. Things broken or missing. Waits a long time to be taken to the toilet, found him in bed when he should be up.
I cannot express more how impressed I am with the care and respect you have shown my mother-in-law. She is so happy at your care centre. I have found the place to be clean and welcoming. The staff couldn't be kinder and friendlier. Ten out of ten.
Excellent care.
My mum arrived at Meer House Care Centre last Thursday and has been made very welcome. The staff are lovely, and Mum has a smile back on her face for the first time in ages. Thank you.
The experience for myself and my father so far has been welcoming, caring and very understanding. I cannot believe how quickly my father has settled into Meyer House Care Centre, this can only be because of the staff's positivity and patience with my father. He is able to be himself and continue with using his independent skills. He has enjoyed the company of the many lovely, caring staff. He enjoys the food cooked every day and I have had lunch with him here. It was very nice. I will be having more lunch dates.
My dad was at Meyer House for over a year and a half via palliative care. He improved amazingly whilst there due to the care and treatment her received. The last few months/weeks of his life, the nursing staff made him very comfortable and free of pain. They all went into him and chatted to him as he was bed-bound. I can't express my gratitude to everyone there for their kindness, help and care. He passed away very peacefully in the end, but his life there was wonderful and happy right to the end.
Every time I come to the home, I am made to feel very welcome by all. I always comment on the displays and the work the entertainment crew do, they never leave anyone out and they do an amazing job keeping spirits high. I hope if I or my parents need to go into a care home, I would choose Meyer House above any other. I work in a pharmacy and when people come in whose loved ones need care, I recommend Meyer House. Can't praise the team enough.
My mother was in Meyer House for just over two years. Mum was traumatised when arriving but the outstanding care she was given brought her back to us. All the staff at Meyer House were kind, thoughtful and loving which is all we could ask for. Mum greatly enjoyed all the activities and the effort the staff put into these events was amazing, be it a small or a large event. When mum was on end-of-life care there was nothing too small or too big for the carers to attend to for mum. Unfortunately mum passed away but my family would like to thank Meyer House staff for giving us another two years with mum.
Mother moved from another home to Meyer House. At first, she was uncooperative and took a while to settle, but now after the dedicated care, perseverance and understanding of the staff, she now seems more settled and contented. She enjoys all the efforts of the activities staff and enjoys great banter with the friendly staff. Mum is not the easiest person to pacify, but Meyer seems to achieve it.
My mother-in-law arrived at Meyer House Care Centre about a year ago. It was a very difficult time for everyone, especially for a 95-year-old lady. As you can imagine she was very resentful of the move. Hated the home, the staff, but most of all her family. Over the past year due to the dedication fo the staff she has started to get used to the home and started to relax and enjoy herself. She enjoys her food as the kitchen staff have taken time to find her favourite foods. We would like to take time to thank all the staff and management for their support and friendly manner.
Staff are very attentive and look after the needs of residents well. There is always entertainment and interaction with the service users. I've been to some of these and the staff are always fun and get residents involved. Highly recommend.
I have been visiting my mum in Meyer House for over two years now. During this time, I have found it to be overall a place where loving care is evident. The staff are always polite, friendly and helpful the majority of the time. Every place has exceptions to the rule, that is life! The activities team are amazing, providing a good variety of things to do, either in a group setting or one-to-one and take an active interest in the residents. I feel very grateful that my mum who is 96 years old is in Meyer House.
