View Full Details of Park Avenue Care HomeMy Dad was moved to the Park Avenue Care Home from hospital for end-of-life care in March 2024. The care home was spotless, the rooms are spacious and well-equipped and the care he got was fantastic. The staff were very professional, and empathic and treated the residents with dignity we couldn't have been happier with him going there. The facilities in the home were fantastic - they seemed to have thought of everything. Although my Dad didn't want to join in the activities, I could see that there were many varied activities and other forms of stimulation for the residents. The Manager was excellent and very approachable, she operated an open-door policy and always knew what was going on with my Dad when I spoke to her. My Dad's health improved and in fact, he actually rallied and was still with us 6 months later. I would definitely recommend this home to other people.
Park Avenue is run extremely well by the caring, professional manager and her team. Our father has advanced dementia but we have comfort and peace of mind knowing he is safe and being treated with dignity. The home is immaculately clean and spacious, with large bedrooms. We also find the food varied and nutritious; the menu having recently been revamped. The activities team is also very nurturing and tries to gently engage the residents who are able with crafts etc.
My father has been a resident at Park Avenue for over 6 years now and during this time he has always received excellent care and attention, especially during some particularly trying times relating to personal matters that were dealt with sympathetically by the care home staff and management personnel. Similarly, the way that the home dealt with the COVID pandemic was excellent, given the issues that presented in keeping residents safe, whilst still doing all that was possible to allow visits, etc. from relatives & loved ones to continue. The staff are always polite and even when busy, which tends to be often, are able to respond quickly to any requests made. The home is clean, safe, and secure, which provides me with reassurance that my father's care needs are being met. The activities and entertainment are also good, and it is clear that effort is made by the home to include as many residents as possible in these activities.
Brought my Nan to see her old friend on the day the home was hosting their annual summer BBQ. My Nan had a fabulous time. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the home and the staff were friendly and helpful.
When Mum first arrived at Park Avenue I was told by another visitor that we "had hit gold". They were certainly right. Every single member of staff is welcoming, friendly and efficient and the care Mum receives is exemplary. The activities provided by the entertainments team are stimulating and great fun - ranging from quizzes, singing, cheese and wine evenings. The list is endless and visitors are always encouraged to join in. The recent musical-themed BBQ was a great success. Overall a fabulous place and most importantly Mum is so very happy living here. An enormous thank you to all the wonderful staff at Park Avenue.
The care home is kept clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful, including the manager who always greets us and chats with us when we visit. All of the staff, no matter what their role, are so friendly and build rapport with residents. The care staff and nurses are on the ball, ensuring that medications are administered on time and residents are well cared for. The home has lots of events throughout the year and these are shared with families, allowing them to attend and join in. Communications are excellent, with regular meetings keeping families up to date with what's going on around the home. The home has a lovely secluded garden with birds, squirrels and nice plants. It has an activity room, offering indoor space for families to come together. The carers are very organised with hospital appointments and would always call me to advise of upcoming appointments and would organise transport. The staff always call if they have any concerns about residents which is reassuring.
Just a quick note to say a big thank you to the manager and her team at Park Avenue for making my Mum's 100th birthday a special occasion. It was a special day for her and our family and you did us proud. Please pass on our thanks to all who contributed to a great day. Once again thank you.
My dad has been here since May, I have to say I cannot find a single fault with this home, all the staff are kind and caring at all times, and we couldn’t ask for more. So glad Dad is in this place, an amazing team from the bottom to the top. Thank you.
My mum has been in Park Avenue for 3 and a half years. I must say I am lost for words with the outstanding care she has received. The home is spotlessly clean, the staff (receptionists, cleaners, care staff, nurses, site manager and the management) are so friendly and treat my mum as family. I never have the guilt of leaving after a visit that I did in her previous home. If only all homes were like this one. The food should be a problem as my mum can only eat purée food however they take her favourite meal and turn it into a suitable consistency which still looks appealing. I recommend this home to anyone and everyone.
My father in law was at Park Avenue Care Home and his care was the reason for my mum to become a resident in January 2021 when her dementia worsened. Despite the challenges of the past few years, the team have been brilliant in making sure my mum was comfortable and happy. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the home is clean and bright. Lots of activities to keep mum stimulated and good food to keep her healthy and nourished. Thanks Park Avenue.
My dad was admitted to Park Avenue Care Home at the beginning of December for end-of-life care... as a family, we felt guilty and were worried about Dad being in a 'home', but he loved it there! The staff were all so friendly to us, and Dad loved them all... even if he did ask their names every day! Dad only had five weeks with you all, but as a family, we are truly grateful for making his (and our) last few weeks together memorable and comfortable. Thank you all so much.
My dad was living at Park Avenue for about nine months, having moved from another home that was not appropriate for his needs as someone living with dementia. We could not have made a better choice. He was enabled to get involved with activities, particularly enjoying singing, and we cannot praise the quality of the food more highly. He ate extremely well, often licking his plate after seconds - we were told. The environment is clean and comfortable, and it is obvious that the ever-welcoming staff have the greatest respect for and get to know the residents very well. After a short stay in the hospital after Christmas, Dad was released back to Park Avenue for end-of-life care. We were so pleased that this was enabled, as this meant that he was back in a familiar environment with people who knew him and cared about him and his needs. We can only express our gratitude to the nursing and care staff who were so kind and understanding to him.
I was worried about my dad's recent move to the care home. But when I first visited him it was like he'd been there for years. He told me he loves his room, the staff and the food. He seems very happy there. All the staff I met were very friendly. The living areas are well laid out and very clean. It's taken a load off my shoulders. Thank you to all at Park Avenue.
My mother was in Park Avenue Care home for 9 months following a diagnosis of cancer in November 2021. She passed away on the 25th of August. Throughout her time in the home the carers were friendly, helpful and of course, caring. The nurses on her floor were very knowledgeable of mums condition and updates were regular and informed. The care home manager was very approachable regarding my mother, and we had good discussions about her care and ailments as the cancer developed. In her final few weeks mum was well looked after and, with the help of the on-call doctor, did not suffer. Interestingly my mum did not have dementia. Even though a good 90% of residents did have symptoms the environment was calm. As an aside my father was also in Park Avenue from 2018 to 2020 and did have severe Alzheimers in dementia, he was equally well cared for.
I have nothing but praise for all of the staff who work at this home. Although my mum spent just a few short days under the care of the staff, nothing was too much trouble. My mum was under the end-of-life pathway and I felt totally confident to allow the staff to care and comfort my mum during the last hours of her life. The manager and deputy manager were very aware of what was going on in the home and we are very responsive to any issues raised they were friendly and helpful at all times providing welcome support to me and the family who had a difficult time of our lives. The GP visited and was responsive to my mum's needs thank you to everybody. The housekeeper and her team kept the corridors and bedrooms beautifully clean and the bed linen was spotless. Although my mum was not able to eat the food it looked tasty and hot and I was impressed by the way the staff took their time in feeding residents who could not manage for themselves.
My dad was taken into Park Avenue Care Home during lockdown, whilst it was the most difficult time in history. I can’t thank the staff and management of Park Avenue for their dedication and care given to my dad. Towards the end of his life dad was difficult to care for but every member of staff did this with the upmost dignity and highest level of care. Nothing was ever too much trouble and for this I will and all my family will be forever grateful for the professionalism, highest level of care and support given not only to our dad but also to our family.
My wife spent the last four years of her life here, during which she spent much happy time being well cared for, well-fed and with particular attention at Park Avenue. Excellent relations with staff.
We recently celebrated the jubilee party at Park Avenue Care Home and the day was just perfect. The residents and team were both enjoying themselves and my loved one very much enjoyed the singer and the bbq in the garden. Park Avenue Care Home is a friendly and warm home with lots of added detail.
Staff and management very caring and polite. Always listen and act on any problems There are sometimes problems with residents wearing other residents' clothes even when they are labelled. Some of the bedroom furniture drawers need fixing or replacing.
Lovely care home, very clean with high standards. Staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a lot to keep the residents busy, including baking, arts and crafts and foot spa, onsite hairdressers and a real homely environment.
