View Full Details of Westside Care HomeMy sister has lived here for 5 days and it was her birthday they did a cake and little party.
My mother has been at Westside for a year now, and I can say that I have never had any worry in regards of how she is being looked after. Every member of staff from the bottom to the top are kind caring and fully committed to giving the best care that they can. My mother worked for the NHS all her life as a nurse/sister/matron and in care homes, she loves this care home and has nothing but praise for everyone there, and I thank everyone for the great care my mother is getting.
Excellent care home, staff are fantastic, very helpful in caring for my dad. And they make you feel so happy that Dad is in a great place.
Still just as good as ever. My wife has been here over 8 years and I couldn't ask for better care for her. It's all in the name 'care' and 'home'. I would recommend to anyone looking for a safe and efficient environment! Management, nursing staff, carers, catering and housekeeping all five-star!
My mother was transferred from a hospice for palliative care. Her care was excellent right from management getting her transferred smoothly and efficiently from the hospice. All the staff were amazing, caring and friendly. The chef even came to see her to see if he could tempt her into eating anything or was there anything he could cook for her. The staff were very gentle and patient with her as she was is considerable pain. The Westside team liaised with the hospice at all times regarding pain management which I found very reassuring in that she was getting the best care. Towards the end, I received regular phone calls if the staff felt there had been any changes even though I used to pop in every day. They were so attentive to her every need and care. I cannot thank all the staff for their kindness and care to both mum and myself enough, when families are in this situation it's very reassuring to know that your loved one is being so well looked after.
We are very happy with the level of care our Mum receives at Westside. The staff are extremely caring and compassionate and we feel very grateful. Thank you to the manager, the staff and the rest of the team.
The whole team at Westside have been exemplary in the kindness, patience and understanding they have shown our dad even under challenging circumstances since he moved in and even recently hosted a lovely afternoon for his birthday.
My aunt has been a resident at Westside Care Home since October of last year. Since being here, myself and family are very happy with the care and support which my aunt has been receiving. The staff and management are all very friendly and welcoming. Easy to talk to and to get along with. They are all very passionate when it comes to the duty of care when looking after the community. Westside Care Home is all aspects in our eyes are excellent in all that they do.
We were told that my father had terminal cancer, a short prognosis and needed 24/7 care so we looked for a care home in the Purley area. My dad was treated so well at Westside - from the very first day. He enjoyed all the activities (bingo, 60’s music karaoke, chair aerobics, quizzes) and was looked after so well. Everyone at the home from the cooks, cleaners, carers, nurses and management treated my dad with respect and care. Towards the end of his life, Westside liaised with St Christopher’s hospice so that his pain management was regularly assessed and controlled. We seriously could not have wished for a better experience. The staff are caring and go above and beyond in looking after the residents. For my dad’s last birthday, we were able to use the dining area and the chef made a huge (very tasty) cake. The staff also decorated the room with balloons and full tableware. It was just so sweet. If you are considering a place for a relative I would recommend - 10/10.
My mum had advanced dementia and needed full-time care. She could do very little for herself she couldn’t even brush her hair anymore. I’d looked after her in my house and provided all her care from the outset of Covid in March 2020. Mum was extremely reluctant to leave me at all. Westside was the only place that allowed her to gradually extend her periods of respite from a week initially building up by a day at a time reaching 17 days maximum respite stay over a 15-month period from November 2021. This respite I could trust enabled me to continue caring. After caring for mum alone for three years and 9 months mum moved into Westside for the last 9 months of her life in 2023, she was cared for kindly and with dignity, the nursing staff involved me at every step as her condition gradually progressed. She was with them to the end and the staff were always kind mindful and alert to her needs.
I cannot praise the staff enough. My mum was in the home for 3 months before she passed away. The staff treated her like she was their own mother. The food was amazing, the place was always clean and tidy. They could not have done enough to make sure my mum was looked after and was treated with the utmost respect, and as mum started to have problems eating they made sure she had food she could eat. They always kept us informed on how our mum was and how she was doing. I can say I would highly recommend this home.
My father resided at the Westside Care Home for approximately four months, and although he was seriously ill, the staff could not have been more compassionate, caring and supportive. My family and I are so grateful to all the staff for making my father feel so comfortable, and would highly recommend this home to anybody else.
We needed to find medical care for our dad after our mum sadly passed away. Dad had complex medical needs and both the nursing and regular care was outstanding. The staff are very friendly and genuine in their care for the residents and this really helped our dad during his time of grieving andlife adjustment. The chef was amazing in providing food that Dad could eat, which greatly helped him regain weight (after a hospital stay). We were impressed with the professional management of the home and appreciated their encouragement of family visits. We would highly recommend this care home.
My mother was struggling to look after herself in her own home, so as a family we decided that she would be better off in a residential care home. We visited Westside and were impressed so that was what we chose for her. Best decision ever. We know she is safe, well cared for and can spend her last years in comfort. There is a doctor on call, nursing staff to attend to minor complaints and very good food. It's everything she could want. The manager is very approachable and the admin staff are very friendly. Everybody knows everybody, it's refreshing.
Mum lived with my husband and me for nearly five years and the decision to put her in a care home was one I'd hoped we'd never have to make. However, everyone at Westside Care Home was so welcoming, kind, caring and friendly. Nothing was too much for them and it didn't take long for Mum to settle in. They made me feel welcome and have been very supportive. Their care has been second to none. Thank you all.
It's never an easy decision choosing a care home but if there is any home I would pick it would be Westside. We have peace of mind knowing our mum is in good caring empathetic hands. All the staff know mum and are so friendly and open. It is the perfect size for mum small and intimate. She is a valued resident. Westside has the best food, is clean and its management team are always available.
Lovely care home, clean and with caring staff. Dad settled in very quickly. He has lots of entertainment - musicians, singers, miniature shetland ponies and exercise classes. The food is very good and he even had a birthday cake made for him on his 93rd birthday. The nurses are very empathetic and nothing is any trouble. I feel very happy with the care and I feel relief that he is getting everything that he needs.
After visiting several homes to accommodate my parents (in their 90s), we knew that Westside was the home for them as soon as we walked in. There was a very friendly and caring atmosphere and the residents all looked happy. When they arrived after a substantial journey in an ambulance, they had hot food waiting for them and us and made every effort to welcome them. Sadly my father only lasted for just under 4 weeks until he passed, but the staff went the extra mile to see that he was as comfortable as possible and were on hand to comfort my mother at that sad time. Also calling us so that we could be there. Mum is still there and is very happy with the way she is looked after.
When the time came for my mum to leave her home and go into a nursing home, Westside was recommended by our GP. From the moment we stepped inside, we knew that it was the right place for her. She has settled so well and this is due to the very high level of care that she receives. The staff could not be more friendly and sensitive to her needs. Mum's room is always clean and cosy and she has lots of her own treasures, ornaments and pictures to make it feel like her own place. Her health can change from day to day. The staff team are an exceptional group of kind and dedicated people who will do their utmost to meet her needs, physically, mentally and emotionally, nothing is too much trouble. Sometimes just a little chat, a bunch of flowers picked from the garden or the chef coming to her room and asking if he can make her something special for tea, can make all the difference to her day. There is always a warm welcome at Westside. It is truly an outstanding home.
My mother was admitted for palliative care in January 2021 and we were extremely nervous and worried about Mum going into a Care Home. Our fears were allayed immediately, as Mum and I were warmly welcomed and put at ease. All the staff showed much compassion and warmth and wanted to know everything about Mum and her needs/dislikes and her personal history/background. Mum has many difficulties and issues but the staff were so patient and caring throughout and still provide the best care possible, that we could hope for.
