I am very happy here.
Our dad moved in to Whitgift House for end-of-life care. Before he became terminally ill his plan was to see his days at the Whitgift. After visiting 12 others homes, as soon as we walked into Whitgift we got "that feeling". Every single staff member from the receptionist to nurses was so helpful and friendly. The main thing is you can tell they really care about their residents and that is what was most important to us. Dad loved it when he visited, he was so excited to enjoy the grounds, the school sports and take part in activities. He liked how modern and clean the home was. Although our dad did not get to enjoy these things he was treated with respect, love and expectational care. We cannot recommend Whitgift enough and although it was sad to lose our father the amazing care he received made it all that much easier as a family. Thank you to everyone at Whitgift, the receptionists, housekeepers, nursing assistants and nurses for making the last few days with our dad so special.
The staff were very caring, the whole family were welcomed by management, kept up to date with the stages of palliative care. Competent staff, helpful and polite. Great chapel, my solace, and beautiful grounds.
My Father moved into Whitgift House Nursing Home in June 2024. It's a beautiful place, I couldn't believe it when I walked in. It's welcoming, friendly, homely and all the staff get to know each resident personally and their families. My father settled in easily and is happy. The carers are wonderful. The staff here are older people who understand the older generation better and have more experience and patience. They are better equipped to care and support them. All the staff are amazing!
I love this place. Food was brilliant. Staff very very welcoming.
My mother moved into Whitgift House to receive close care when her health was deteriorating. The staff (nurses, carers and volunteers) were marvellous and very understanding of Mum's needs during her residence. My family are very grateful for their support during this time.
The care my mother has received is extremely good. The carers and nurses are extremely attentive and go beyond expectations to make Mum comfortable. The other support staff such as receptionist and senior management are compassionate and professional when dealing with relatives of residents. Therefore I would definitely recommend Whitgift House.
My mother has been a resident for nearly 14 years. She is now nearing the end of her life and the care she is receiving is excellent. She is treated with kindness, compassion, respect and dignity by all her carers.
I have every confidence that my relative is in good hands at Whitgift House. From the very first day my relative looked happy and showed signs of happiness with her new accommodation and the staff members looking after her. My visits always give me good feelings and I can now have valued time on my visits. I am involved in every aspect of my relative's care. Many thanks from a happy family member.
My mother received the best of care, kindness and dignity given by all those who cared for her. I can't thank them enough, from the office staff to the laundry ladies. Their kindness was amazing. I and my mother became part of a very loving family, their support was second to none. Thank you.
Firstly I am not complaining about the standard of care my mother received during her respite stay, it is the lack of communication/feedback from the home. I was asked to and provide a detailed 'routine' together with her likes, dislikes, food preferences etc. Upon arrival, whilst the receptionist was helpful and a nurse took her blood pressure etc. there was nobody there to discuss my mother's care. I unpacked and hung around for some time and upon asking I eventually spoke to the care manager who assured me her 'routine' would be placed 'on the system' and after a further delay, I did get to speak to one of the carers. At the end of my mum's stay, I arrived to pick her up and again the same thing happened only this time I did not even seem to be expected, there was no one to speak to for feedback (the carer on duty had only come on shift that morning) and I had a pre-booked taxi so we had to leave. Communication with relatives is important and should not be overlooked in this way.
I have been visiting my friend once a week for the past few months. I have been impressed with most of the facilities at Whitgift House during my visits. The staff are very friendly and caring. All in all, it is a pleasant and safe environment.
Our mother moved into Whitgift House over six years ago. The staff have been so caring and increasingly attentive as she became less able to look after herself. It is an extraordinarily caring, friendly and safe place. She loved the food and it felt like home.
Our mum was a resident at Whitgift House for the last five months of her life. We found all the staff to be very friendly and nothing was ever too much trouble. The care and support they offered to us, as a family, was amazing. The dedication and compassion of all the staff were very much appreciated by Mum, Dad, my sister and myself. Your staff are outstanding and our family are eternally grateful for making our vulnerable mum feel comfortable and at home during her short time at Whitgift House.
My aunt has been a resident of Whitgift House for several years. She is well looked after and cared for. The facilities are very good and her needs are catered for. The staff and all the team are very friendly and approachable and I am kept well-informed of any changes in her condition. I would recommend Whitgift House to anyone needing care.
Mum is treated as one of the family. The staff seem to genuinely care about the residents. Stable staffing even through the pandemic gives me peace of mind that mum is well known and that as her family we are also well known to staff. During covid, the management have worked hard to ensure that meaningful visits started as soon as possible and they have been flexible in accommodating the needs of our family. The small size and the fact that it is part of a charitable foundation mean that none of the corporate profit-making motives stand in the way of good quality care. I feel the staff are well looked after and of course, that translates into better care for residents. Mum is 95 years old and has been at Whitgift House for nearly 3 years now.
Excellent care home. Lovely staff who are very caring. Nothing is too much trouble.
The care and support provided is excellent, always with time and patience and we are treated with dignity.
Whitgift House is undergoing a management reshuffle. We now have more 'generals' than 'privates' in our care 'army'. Many outstanding care workers have been made redundant but well treated with legally required redundancy pay. Still, they are much missed. We no longer have a Matron, who was a key figure. I understand there have been no changes in full care.
Receptionist and staff always friendly and helpful. Common areas always clean and tidy.
