View Full Details of Barchester Austen House Care HomeAusten House came to our aid when we needed urgent respite care for a family member. They could not have more accommodating or helpful if they had tried.
Austen House is excellent! The staff team are very caring and always keep me informed of anything I need to know! They do excellent jobs looking after and caring for my parents.
Excellent staff. The care provided to my mother is exemplary. Nothing seems to be too much for them to do.
My father has settled well. Staff are kind, polite and respectful to my father and always have a smile on their faces. Happy to help.
My experience has been good. Staff are kind and attentive. The home has been refurbished and it is always clean. Food is good. The only small concern I have is sometimes getting information about my friend's deafness and what can be done.
Only been here a little while but staff are friendly.

Mum has been here 2 years. I am very happy with Barchester Austen House and would not hesitate tho recommend to others. I am particularly pleased with the staff at Austen House some of whom have direct responsibility for mum's care and well being. I would highlight one staff member in particular who is fantastic at helping mum keep happy and is an exceptional carer, as are two further members of the team, we frankly could not ask for more from these kind people. In addition the 2 ladies on reception are always engaging and welcoming when we visit. One of the ladies who provides nursing care is excellent, always on the ball and very proactive and is great at keeping us informed. We thank her for effectively optimising mum's health and welfare. The staff all know mum exceptionally well and this approach means she gets the very best we could expect . Thank you. The home itself is well managed by the manager, all food cooked from scratch with good choices and varied menus and good quality.
I've always found the home to be warm and friendly with excellent staff! I've always found my sisters care has been excellent. I enjoy coming to the home as everybody is so welcoming.
The staff in all departments are welcoming, friendly and caring. The daily routine of the homes well managed to the benefit of the residents. All staff know my wife by name and always have a warm welcome which makes my wife feel cared for. The home is safe, warm and secure which is what is desired. Entertainment, food, and gardens are all very good. I take comfort that my wife is in good hands.
My mother has been here for a year and we are extremely pleased with her care. All the staff are kind, welcoming and caring. All the staff are respectful and professional in their approach to my mother. She is encouraged to join in with all the activities on offer. She is safe and happy - thank you.
As the wife of a new resident with you, from the moment you enter Barchester Austen House Care Home, you are greeted with a smile from all your front of house staff. All carers treat you with great respect and kindness. Everywhere is very clean and today, no matter when you visit. My husband is always clean and tidy and is very content with all that is around him. You have a great team doing the activities and I encourage my husband to go to all possible. Food, as life as a chef he always compliments his meals and likes to see the daily menu. We were just lucky you had a place for him. Big thank you.
The entire staff team from office, nurses, carers, kitchen staff, housekeeping, activity team, handyman are fantastic, kind and caring. They are so friendly, I cannot say how much we appreciate the high standard of love and care given to our mum, food is incredible, selection is wonderful and the homemade cakes are wonderful.
My father was moved to Barchester Austen House Care Home from his previous care home as his care needs had changed and he now needs nursing care. The level of care he has received here, as well as the support extended to us (his family), is second to none. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable - enabling my father to live comfortably and treating him with dignity. I cannot recommend this setting highly enough.
Mother is in good hands. They helped her go to the Salvation Army meeting last Sunday. A splendid time was had by all. The level of care is excellent. Thanks to Austen House for all their support.
My mum has just become a resident at Austen House Nursing Home, she's on her 5th day, and so far the transition has been great, the staff are so very friendly and help with everything I have asked. It's very organised. She's in a provisional room at present until her own room is decorated to my/her choice, which will be lovely for her.
Pleasant surroundings. Extremely kind, friendly and caring staff. Most important the resident is happy. Enjoys the company of staff and residents. Activities are planned regularly to ensure residents are kept busy. The home is in a residential area with attractive outlooks of well-kept gardens.
In all my years of being a private carer, I have never been so impressed with this care home. Over the months I have brought my friend who visits the home. The staff are incredible, so polite and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. I am so happy to write a review as credit where credit is due.
Very friendly. I'm impressed with the friendly and helpful staff. The food is excellent, nicely presented with a good choice of food.
Mum has been living in Austen House for nearly 18 months now and during that time she has been really well cared for. Every member of staff is kind and caring to Mum, and they are all very friendly, welcoming and open to me, as her daughter. The nursing staff are on the ball so that any health issues are dealt with before it becomes a problem. The activities staff do a great job in providing stimulating activities to engage the residents so I know Mum is not left alone. I have found the manager very approachable when I have had any questions and she has been really helpful recently on a couple of matters. All in all, I know Mum is in the best possible place at Austen House.
