View Full Details of The Gables Nursing HomeMy father lived for two years at The Gables. He was not the easiest person to look after as, despite his advanced age and problems with dementia, he was still strong-minded and unable to accept he needed full-time care. However, the staff were patient, understanding and caring and gradually he settled down. My family and I always felt very welcome when we visited and always ready for a chat when we were anxious about Dad. His final few days before he passed away were very difficult but we were met with sensitivity and compassion. Thank you everyone! A friendly, cosy, warm and welcoming home for your loved one.
On behalf of our family, I would like to say thank you to all the staff at The Gables. From the all-important cleaning staff, the nurses and chefs - thank you. My father passed away with dignity and the care given to him by all the staff was impeccable. My mother was also given a warm reception and nothing was too much effort for the staff. Once again thank you for all your care and warmth and love.
Approximately a year ago, after a very bad fall, my dad came to stay at The Gables. At that time, our family thought we would soon lose Dad as his health was very poor. Last September 2022, we celebrated his 90th birthday, even though he was too weak to realise. Jump forward to this past year and my wonderful Dad is happy, healthy and able to engage with us when myself and Mum come to visit. Without the care and the immense kindness of the staff at The Gables, we truly believe we would have lost Dad last year. But he's heading for his 91st birthday now and Mum and Dad will be celebrating their 56th Wedding Anniversary next month. What a difference a year makes! The Gables has given our family the gift of not losing my loving Dad and my Mum's devoted husband. This has been a big adjustment for the whole family but seeing how marvellously well Dad is being cared for has helped so much and still having him with us speaks for itself. We are so very grateful, thank you, you are all so wonderful.
Fantastic nursing home I would highly recommend. The second we came to view The Gables when my grandad was put on an end-of-life pathway, we were met with such a warm and welcoming team. For the duration my grandad was in the nursing home, we felt like we were part of the family. We were so well looked after, built up such a rapport with all of the team, and my grandad absolutely adored every member of the team there. They were incredibly caring, took the time to get to know my grandad and really went above and beyond in every aspect. Sadly my grandad died after 4 months however right up until his last moments, he was so beautifully cared for. The team were incredibly empathetic and have just been overall amazing from start to finish. Your relative is not just a number to them, they really do care about them and treat them like family which is exactly what you want when reaching the stage of needing a nursing home. Thank you so much to everyone at The Gables! You are all incredible!
I have had a short stay at The Gables after an operation. This is the first time I have ever stayed in a care home but I can honestly say I could not recommend the home highly enough. The staff are excellent, kind, caring and compassionate. I would be happy to stay here if I wasn't going home.
I quickly learnt that living in this environment would mostly be the best thing for me as I approached 90 years old. Kindly, good-humoured and attentive care, excellent and varied meals. Comfortable room. Fellow residents are on quiet side. Quite honestly I would not want to be anywhere else.
Your staff looked after my aunt with dignity and care for the short time she was with you before she died. We were all very happy with the attention and care we all received when visiting my aunt during her stay and after she passed away.
My wife was admitted to The Gables in April 2020 suffering from Parkinson's and Dementia. Due to issues related to covid, I had no choice of place to care for my wife, but thankfully it has been 100 per cent satisfaction for both my wife and I. I have never been able to fault their overall operation of the home and their TLC cannot be faulted. Sadly, my wife's condition has deteriorated to a point where she no longer knows people, can't speak and is wheelchair bound. The care and attention she receives from all the staff cannot be faulted.
My 103-year-old Aunt was admitted to The Gables on a temporary basis due to a fall in her bungalow. From the moment we entered the home, she was treated with kindness, respect and dignity. All of the staff were excellent but in particular, the two resident nurses were exceptional. They were always on hand to reassure and support my aunt, which was essential as this was the first time she had not been in her own home. We always found her clean, dressed to impress and happy with her surroundings. The food provided was enjoyed by my aunt and to our relief, she has put weight on. Overall, we have no hesitation in recommending The Gables to other potential residents and the new manager is already making her mark. She took time out to speak with my aunt who very much enjoyed their conversations and is another example of how caring and dedicated the team at the Gables are.
