My father-in-law was a resident here for three years. His health improved noticeably upon arrival, as he was cared for with great attention to detail and respected as an individual right from the outset. The devotion of the staff - carers, nurses, providers of entertainment - everyone - was amazing. We always knew he was safe. The care he needed was such as we could never have provided ourselves, and we are deeply grateful to all the incredible staff who did such a skilled and challenging job, with a smile on their faces. They clearly grew to love him, and even when they were short-staffed his needs were met and staff were friendly and cheerful with him and with us. There were always new photographs up in the public areas, often with my father-in-law as an active participant in the activities. When the end came, they informed us with the same kindness, gentleness and thoughtfulness that characterised his care; we remain profoundly grateful.
My 95 year old mother was a resident for 5 months at Lewin House, and suffered with dementia. Our experience as a family was very good. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, even down to the cleaners. Everyone kept us up to date with everything, including telephone calls for minor things such as if she had cut herself accidentally. All of the staff showed an interest in us and my mother's health and wellbeing. We only have good things to say about all of the staff and would recommend Lewin to anyone considering using them.
This is a beautifully decorated home, spotlessly clean with a wonderful dedicated caring staff that goes above and beyond in my opinion to make everyone feel welcome and special.
Having worked in the caring profession before retirement I find myself very impressed with the professional, compassionate and person-centred attention given to my husband who has recently moved into Lewin House. The specialist Alzheimer's nursing care he is receiving for challenging behaviour and complex needs is second to none. The staff are friendly and helpful. They obviously enjoy their work. Each day there are supervised activities that residents can join in with. A few weeks after his admittance into Lewin house the leadership team reviewed the support that is needed to meet his special needs. I would recommend Lewin House to anyone looking for a residential care home.
Excellent group meeting today with music, singing, tea, cakes, beautiful smiles from all assistants, very helpful.
My wife's aunt celebrated her 105+ birthday in Lewin House. Ten days previous to her birthday, she suffered a broken hip and underwent an operation inserting a pin into her leg. This was a major trauma for her but she was transferred back to Lewin House five days before her birthday. The manager and the staff at Lewin House could not have been more helpful and supportive and kind. They had already arranged a celebration for her birthday including cakes, sandwiches, drinks and a singer. Although she was extremely tired and exhausted after her operation, she rallied when the mayor came to present her with a birthday card from the King and she brightened up considerably. Overall, she enjoyed her 105+ birthday which was organised and delivered by the senior team and staff at Lewin House. We cannot thank them enough for their kindness, help and support, not just for her birthday but since she made Lewin House her home nearly 2 years ago.
I can’t thank Lewin House, enough for the amazing love and care my mother received in the last few months of her life. The care of my mum and the support we received as a family was amazing, mum was settled and happy and they catered for all her specific needs thank you.
Really pleased we moved Dad to Lewin House! Upon arrival, we were greeted with a warm welcome from the staff and they made him feel at ease in his new environment. He’s been at Lewin house for a week and has settled remarkably well. Dad likes his spacious comfortable bedroom, enjoys the food and he’s got plenty of communal spaces to explore freely. He joins in with the daily activities program, it’s lovely to see him tapping his feet clapping his hands and smiling along with the other residents and carers, there’s a wonderful vibe in the room. We’ve been really impressed by the whole package at Lewin House and that is only possible by having a team of dedicated, caring professional people.
My dad spent his last 6 weeks in Lewin House Care. He had been very reluctant for care but everyone there made it very easy for him to adjust to. The care is received was second to none. Totally outstanding. I had nursed Dad at home until we no longer could. From one health professional to all of Lewin, we will be eternally grateful for their compassion and understanding. We were made to feel welcome any time and my children also were made to feel at ease. They could not do enough for him. Thank you very much.
My husband has been a resident at Lewin House since July 2023. He is bedridden and needs a lot of care. The staff are very friendly and caring and do their best to make his life as good as possible. They are friendly and welcoming to me and our family too. My husband says he is grateful for the way he is looked after. I would recommend Lewin House.
My father has been a resident at Lewin House for the past 2.5 years and during that time he has received the very best care from a dedicated team who have been incredibly supportive, understanding, and respectful. The facilities are lovely with large, well furnished rooms and en suite bathrooms and the communal areas are bright, cheerful and homely. All areas are spotlessly clean and there are lots of activities for residents. When my mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness she was able to spend the last months of her life receiving palliative care in the same residence as my father which allowed her to spend her last days with her beloved husband. The staff helped her to spend time with my father every day, including having meals together and I cannot describe how much that meant to us and how wonderful and supportive the staff have been during a very difficult year.
The staff do a good day's work for a good day's pay and they all work together as a team and they never ever stop working. They are on the go all day.
My husband receives 24-hour nursing care so I was familiar with the kind, friendly staff and stimulating, colourful environment. When I needed respite care, following an operation, I was pleased to be able to stay at Lewin House Care Home and was very happy there. My room was spacious, light and it was cleaned daily. I was always treated with kindness, respect and appropriate care.
My husband was in Lewin House for six months until he passed away. The staff are wonderful and caring and supportive of our family through a very difficult time. I wish his time there had been better but everything that was possible was done to help. No care home could have done more.
My father, who was bedbound and very frail, spent 11 weeks at Lewin House before he died. He was extremely well cared for, and I can't praise the staff enough. They were always kind and patient. I know he felt looked after, and he was comfortable. It was a great comfort to my sister and me to know that.
I took my mum to visit my aunt. The staff were helpful and friendly. The covid controls seemed good. The security was good. The home looked clean, spacious, light, well equipped, and well looked after. The room was nice, with a nice view. The en suite wet room looked good. The staff knew the residents well and seemed to really care. My aunt is a fussy eater, but the staff catered well for her.
My mother has been a resident at Lewin House for over eight months now, and during this time all the staff have shown to be caring, supportive and knowledgeable. They always act in a professional manner and show compassion. Whilst residents are encouraged to participate in activities, there is no pressure. The food is extremely good and highly recommended to me by my mother.
My husband has been in this care home for nearly four years and is treated with great care and respect. They phone me with any problems medical-wise.
All the staff are amazing. The Business Support Assistant is really caring and very helpful. We are very lucky to get my husband in here. They can't do enough to help, from laundry to cleaning to nurseries and carers (one of the cleaners helped me get the coffee machine going which I brought for my husband). They are all very, very kind and thoughtful.
I recently visited my mum at Lewin House from Canada. Where do I start? The staff are outstanding, caring, diligent, friendly, and welcoming. I am thoroughly impressed by the high standard of service she is receiving. They have superb decor and enthusiastic events and activities, staff members. Wonderful grounds to wander and chat with loved ones. Inventive and adventurous schedules for able residents who all look well attended, happy, and loved. Fabulous place. She is well cared for enjoys the activities, stunning gardens to walk around, and a beautiful room. The food is fabulous with a different menu each day, and Mum is spoilt with Indian food. The home is just like walking into a 5-star hotel. The whole team was involved in making her stay so wonderful. I am grateful for their kindness to us as well as mum. Thank you.
