View Full Details of Abberton Manor Nursing HomeMy sister was at Abberton Manor from October 2033 to December 2024. During that time the care and consideration given to her was excellent. The nurses and carers went above and beyond to make her feel welcome and comfortable. I would like to thank all of the staff at the home for their kindness to her and to me.
My mum started at Abberton Manor in March 24. Mum was not well at all at the start of her stay but 3 months on Mum is doing amazing. All the team are amazing. A special mention for one member of staff in particular on the entertainment team who my mum loves.
First-class care! All the staff do their absolute best for Mum and treat her with great respect and kindness. Thank you to everyone at Abberton.
Always made to feel welcome. Staff are friendly, always available to answer any questions. Not only do they provide outstanding care for my wife they are also very comforting to myself. I would highly recommend this home and I am forever grateful for all that they do.
I moved here at the end of October 2023 after 28 years in a certain area. My brother lives close by and I asked him and his wife to find me a nursing/care home in their area. After some time and many visits to other places, they decided Abberton Manor fulfilled my exacting requirements, not too many residents, great architecture, rooms with high ceilings and in spring/summer a garden to sit in. It has been an eye-opening experience for me, the staff day and night (nursing, catering) in fact everyone from top to toe has been very caring and attentive at all times. I cannot answer value for money as I have no input for this, my brother deals with all financial matters.
Me and my family would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at the Abberton Manor Nursing Home for the truly great care that they gave my brother during his time there before he passed away. We were so very happy with the way we were welcomed when we visited my brother.
I was worried about my dad spending his last days in a care home but as soon as we got to Abberton Manor Nursing Home, the staff where lovely. The respect and the care he received were beautiful. Couldn't ask for a better place for him to spend his last days and can’t thank the staff enough.
Abberton Manor Nursing Home is like a home from home where you very quickly sink into the ambience which is like a "warm blanket on a cold day". The bedrooms with bathrooms are so comfortable but the best feature of Abberton Manor, without a doubt, is the staff who I would describe as friendly and caring. Care homes, by their nature, are expensive but Abberton Manor stands "head and shoulders" above the norm. Very well done!
The care and respect my mother has received since arriving at Abberton Manor Nursing Home in June 2023 has been excellent. It is a great relief that her personal care and safety are professionally administered and her psychological welfare is addressed and communicated with me.
Abberton Manor Nursing Home is a beautiful care home. The garden areas and bedroom views are breathtaking. We are always greeted with happy staff and made to feel very welcome. I cannot praise and recommend this home enough.
I will always be grateful to every member of staff at Abberton Manor for looking after my brother during the last few weeks of his life with such care and compassion but also with plenty of lightheartedness and humour, which he really enjoyed. I am also grateful to the staff for their kindness in looking after me too and for all the cups of tea and coffee and the many much-needed hugs. Walking into Abberton Manor felt like walking into a lovely big family home. It was obviously an amazing place in its heyday, and now the grandeur is a little faded, but somehow that just adds to its warm and comforting feel. Abberton Manor is a lovely place full of lovely, caring people.
My mother spent her last 12 days in Abberton Manor. During this time, her care was excellent. All the staff, especially the nurses and carers, were warm, kind and caring. The family were extremely grateful that the staff ensured she was comfortable and pain-free throughout her short stay. Many thanks.
My Grandmother was admitted here from hospital and to be honest any care setting would not have been a preferred option. However she looks well looked after when I visit her, she is looking far healthier than when she was living at home so obviously needed that level of support in hindsight. Staff have been very welcoming, friendly and helpful both in the flesh and over the phone. It's a lovely environment to visit and is clean tidy and homely also allowing dogs to visit, which is great for both myself and my grandmother. I do feel she is safe and in a good environment where she is thought of very fondly. Thank you.
Following a serious fall at home last August, it was soon apparent that my mum was in need of 24-hour nursing care. I had no hesitation in approaching Abberton Manor as they had previously nursed my dad so well during the last weeks of his life in 2020. I was so relieved to find that they had space for mum, and she was soon settled in a lovely room in which she could begin her recovery. All of the staff were devoted to mum's care and well-being and treated her with such kindness, patience and compassion during those first weeks when she was in so much pain. The staff at Abberton nursed mum back to health and gently encouraged her to get up and dressed every day so she was able to eat her meals in the lovely dining room, and enjoy the comings and goings and activities in the homely lounge. I was so pleased to see mum regaining her weight and strength. Mum now regards Abberton as her home and I am very happy that she is now there permanently where she continues to thrive.
My Mother is staying and being looked after at Abberton Manor. When she arrived she was in a sorry state. The nurses there have brought her back to good health. What strikes me so clearly about this place, is that the staff genuinely care for my Mother. She is very happy there and I feel one cannot ask for more than that.
Lovely old house and wonderful grounds, however, only if you can appreciate them. If the resident is bed bound, totally irrelevant. This home is not for dementia patients and my aunt should never have been admitted there. The staff are not qualified in the needs of dementia. Communication is also not great. Many emails were sent without any reply. Phone calls were made, without answering and the amount of times I rang the doorbell and no answer for ages. Not great when it's cold, windy, rainy and you have a 90yr old visiting and waiting outside on the doorstep. I also found that many items of clothing and personal belongings went missing. Majority of staff were pleasant, however, the odd one or two were rude to visitors.
The staff were very kind, busy and helpful. The food was excellent and never went hungry. The house was lovely and had nice gardens. A shower in my room would have been nice but appreciate it is an 'old' house. Would like to have gone out for a visit somewhere.
Our mother was well looked after during her stay at Abberton. The staff were extremely caring and helpful; nothing was too much trouble. Mother always looked so comfortable. I particularly like the way they spoke to Mum to engage her in what was happening. Thank you to all the staff at Abberton.
My mother arrived at Abberton Manor, her first Care Home, from Hospital in March. The Manor has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food was very appetising and always made you feel hungry. Her room was of a very good size and pleasant with very pleasant views onto the gardens. Very relaxing. The staff are very friendly and caring. Thank you. Due to a developing illness my mother moved on from Abberton. She stills remembers some of her days there, which is nice to hear. I even shed some tears when my mother left. I do recommend Abberton Manor.
All of the staff are caring, professional, and extremely supportive. My mother has the best possible care with staff going above and beyond to ensure the safety and happiness of their residents. The food is excellent with a varied menu, and the rooms are bright and comfortable, I couldn’t be more grateful for the staff who genuinely seem to care not only about their residents but the families too, thank you.
