View Full Details of Forest PlaceWe made a lucky choice in Forest Place Nursing Home for our mother. The staff are extremely caring and have taken time to get to know her and treat her with compassion, respect and to share in her sense of humour, which she appreciates. As her dementia has advanced and her behaviour has become more challenging, staff have been very supportive of us as a family and responsive to the challenges we have faced in coping with this. The Activity team have been exceptional in creating activities to stimulate her and to tap into memories from the past. We extend our thanks to everyone for her ongoing care.
I do not belomg here because l am not demented l was put in a care home without my consent. Summarily l need medical attention which l can not get here. A carer told me that the whole staff hate me that they pretend to laugh at me which means l am not safe in their hands.
The service and the support given by carers is excellent and am happy in here. They provide all the facilities I need on time. They treat me with full dignity and ensure my safety. The management gives all the support.
My father has been a resident for a few years. He is on Stradbroke unit and is quite settled. The care and attention given to him is excellent. This year's Christmas party surpassed itself with a live singer and staff dressed up in costumes and of course party food. Although dementia is slowly taking its course but the party awakened something in my father and it was so moving to see him laughing and singing. A magic time to have my dad back. Well done Forrest Place for all your continuing care.
I visit once a week and the carers in Stradbrook are all way busy with the residents helping them with drinks or feeding the ones who can't feed themselves and doing it with so much care and respect as if each resident was their own family they have so much patience's and kindness I'm so pleased my elderly friend is there. And the nurses are just as caring as the carer staff it's such a lovely care home.
All the staff on Stradbroke ward are all very caring and work very hard to look after my Mother. They treat her as if she was part of a family. We have no problems with anything that they do they keep us informed on everything that is happening with the care of my Mother. They always contact us with any problems that arise and discuss with us the options. The food is very good and the rooms are always kept clean.
So far I have found Forest Homes to be very supportive towards my father. Any issues raised by us as a family have been listened to and addressed. The regular staff have been very accommodating and the manager is excellent and kind, caring and always smiling. To be honest most of the staff have been very friendly polite and reassuring. Yes, I have a couple of favourites.
Generally the home is satisfactory and the majority of the staff are friendly. Occasional communication barriers exist when trying to express wishes (I think this is a language problem). There seems to be a high turnover of staff and this can make it difficult to build up a rapport. The full-time staff that are on board are very helpful and approachable and I feel are quite genuine. Unfortunately my father has his food pureed (as he is unable to swallow properly) which means he has been given the same food twice daily with no variation. I do believe that can be rectified as any food can be pureed; chicken, rice, vegetables, fruit. But these combinations are not being done sadly. The home is generally clean and tidy. Management are always on board to help with any queries or concerns. The only concern is the app which is too vague, I feel it is automated most of the time.
Mum has been a resident for close to 2 years. The home is clean and fresh. The staff are friendly and caring. I always get offered refreshments when I visit. With Mum's dementia, she often lashes her arms around. The staff always call me, if this had happened as Mum knocks her arms. I would recommend Forest Place to anyone.
My father has been a resident since summer 2023. This home is bright, clean and modern and staff are friendly and approachable. It is much better than the home my father was in before. The senior nurse and her team are wonderful, she regularly updates me by phone and the app enables me to check progress/see photos on the days I cannot visit. There are quarterly relatives meetings, plus they arrange some nice social events and celebrations. There was a lovely Xmas party and on Easter Sunday everyone got a visit from the Easter bunny and a chocolate egg. My only criticisms would be: daily entertainment activities have decreased on my father's floor due to a staffing vacancy but my father's ill health means he cannot take part now, my father doesn't always enjoy the food but he is a fussy eater, and there seemed to be an influx of new, less experienced care staff on my father's floor all at once before Xmas so it's taken time to get used to them all.
All the staff on Meadway Unit are very nice and caring with my mum. My mum looks very well looked after and my mum likes it here and she doesn't want to be moved from Forest Place. All the time, when I visit, my my mum looks nice and clean and happy. The food is lovely and her room is always clean. I am happy that my mum is in this place.
My father came in February 2024 and so far, been brilliant and my father has settled in well.
I am a resident of Forest Palace. I have received an award. I still think of this as my home!
I eat Halal food and prefer soft, well-cooked food. Please make sure meat is soft as I cannot chew due to my tooth, I need a slice of salmon at least once or twice a week. I am Asian Indian/Pakistan so please try to make a few of my meals according to my taste, like lentils with rice with some plain yoghurt or on-the-bone chicken or lamb curry with naan bread, salmon roasted with vegetables and mashed potato, some omelette with toast, just a few meals a week. Apart from that, the food standard is exceptional and very nicely cooked. All staff are very helpful, all management is amazing.
My father has been in Forest PLace for eight months. He was placed there after a long spell in hospital. He had stopped feeding himself in hospital so I would support him at meal times. He would only eat a few mouthfuls of pureed food. Since being at Forest Place he would be encouraged to feed himself. The staff are so helpful and very cheerful. He is a resident on one unit in particular, they have all done a routine providing excellent care with compassion. Staff team are friendly, always smiling, offer myself and other visitors drinks, spend time discussing any concerns with me too. Well done - thank you.
My father has been a resident at Forest Place for three months now. Right from the first day, both he and all our family have been made to feel very welcome and comfortable at the home. All of the staff have been very friendly and greet us with a smile; they seem to genuinely care for the residents. The food has been very good, and the staff have tried to make sure my father's gluten-free diet is catered for - he is now finally putting on a little weight. Unfortunately, we have had some problems with the room and the facilities, which has been frustrating, but after speaking with the manager, they have finally been sorted out. The home would benefit from having more nurses and carers available.
I used Forest Place for a one-week respite stay for my husband. The staff are very caring and work to a professional standard. Nothing is too much trouble for them in making the resident feel welcome and safe in their care. Thank you so much.
Forest Place staff are brilliant, caring and nothing is too much trouble. Always greeted with a smile. They are smiling all the time and happy to help. My recent loss of my dad was handled with compassion and tender care. I will always be grateful.
My father has been a resident at the care home for almost four months. His dementia means he can be difficult but the staff are excellent with him. They treat my father with dignity and respect. He is well-fed, well-turned out and well-looked after. The facilities are excellent but the staff are the icing on the cake.
My father has only been a resident for just over three weeks but during that time, I have found the staff to be friendly, kind, attentive and courteous. Whilst awaiting placement in a nursing home, my father was in hospital, deteriorating rapidly before our eyes and it was heartbreaking to watch. Not least of our problems was the fact that he was just refusing to eat and losing weight quickly. However, since being in Forest Place Care Home, where he is obviously so much happier, his appetite has improved and he has actually gained weight! So, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the staff who do a great job, sometimes under very difficult circumstances, particularly when coping with my father who, I know, due to the nature of dementia, is not always cooperative. Thank you all so much.
