View Full Details of Barchester Leonard Lodge Care HomeVery helpful caring staff.
We had to put Dad into respite at very short notice and Leonard Lodge Care Home came to the family rescue. All the staff on Memory Lane have made Dad feel very welcome, he settled into the home really quickly, this was helped by the carers and staff being so friendly but very professional in the way they go about looking after him and all the residents, not to mention family members of the residents. I cannot say a bad word about anything to do with Leonard Lodge, we are all very happy.
My husband is extremely physically disabled and has vascular dementia. He's been a resident in Barchester Leonard Lodge Care Home for thirteen months where he's received efficient, kind and compassionate care from all the staff. The carers and nurses are friendly and approachable if I have any queries or concerns. Always supportive. My husband can join in very few activities but when he's able he's encouraged by the excellent team of activity ladies. He appears content, enjoys the companionship of the staff and eats well - never complains! This all gives me peace of mind. Thank you.
My mother has been in the home for four years, she is very happy. The staff treat her with dignity. The staff are very friendly, a lot of them wave and smile at my mum as they pass her room, as she is bed-bound. Mum really enjoys the food, especially the homemade cakes and a cup of tea, at tea time.
My mother has been at Barchester Leonard Lodge Care Home in the nursing care section for two years. During that time, she has been well looked after and is very fond of many of the staff. When our family visit, we are always welcomed and enjoy a friendly chat with her carers. We feel if there are any concerns we can raise these with the nursing team or management. There are organised activities that she likes to participate in and now and again she has enjoyed outings in the minibus. Mum says she enjoys the food (it always looks good). She likes to be helped to the garden when the weather is nice. It's a lovely, peaceful area where she can enjoy the flowers, birds and fresh air with other residents she has become friends with. If the weather is bad there are areas within the home she can enjoy outside of her own room.
My husband was admitted to Leonard Lodge a month ago and so far I have been very impressed with the care he is given. He is always clean and well-groomed. The staff are kind and willing to listen to any concerns. Nothing is too much trouble for them. He settled down surprisingly quickly and his mental state has actually improved. The activities team work hard to provide a variety of events throughout the week and encourage relatives to participate. This keeps the residents stimulated. In addition, they provide occasional outings in the minibus to suitable venues.
My dad has received great care and has been well looked after ever since he arrived at Leonard Lodge. The staff are very considerate and caring and they work very hard. They try to keep the staff consistent as much as possible , so the residents feel secure and comfortable, being familiar with those who are looking after them. There are a whole range of activities during every week, but not at weekends, and those who are more fit and able can spend time in the garden and go on trips in the minibus. There are also activities which are aimed to include relatives and friends, who are always made welcome and offered care and support too.
I am very impressed with the care and efficiency of all the staff, good communication over Mum's care and support with any concerns. The manager is polite and has a passion for dementia which requires specialist understanding of a very complex and upsetting illness. The office staff have been helpful and I have felt my concerns have been listened to and actioned. The chef did Mum a lovely tea for her 95th and I know she was touched by this. The activities are varied and Mum has been encouraged to join in, although she cannot remember, she obviously has a good rapport with staff.
After careful research including talking to management, friends and relations of previous residents and visiting, we moved my wife into Memory Lane. I have found that the management team through all the nurses, carers, entertainers and all the other support staff that look after the residents and their needs are working to a very high standard. I cannot praise them high enough for the high standards they attain and the level of care and friendliness they give to all including friends and relations of residents. Very well done and keep up the excellent work.
Mum is well looked after. She seems generally happy and contented. Staff are friendly and attentive and are very patient, especially when dealing with residents who have dementia. There are always plenty of activities taking place.
I brought my cousin to Leonard Lodge Care Home from her home in another area, where I had arranged for her daily care for four years after she had been deemed to have lost capacity. I chose Leonard Lodge Care Home because my aunt had at one time been cared for on the first floor of the home, and I had seen first-hand the care that was given. Another key reason for my decision was the proximity of the home to my own place of residence. I find the staff who work on Memory Lane at Leonard Lodge to be very kind and helpful to residents, and their general care of them and the preparation of clients for their day to be exceptionally good. My cousin’s happiness is of paramount importance to me. I know from asking her about her life at Leonard Lodge that she is comfortable staying at The Lodge. I can also see from my own visits that she has happily settled on Memory Lane.
Overall, I would recommend this care home. The staff are approachable, helpful and friendly, and I feel that my mother is in a safe place and being well cared for. Relatives and friends are able to visit at any time, which has definitely helped my mother to settle into a different way of life and means that she still feels connected with her family. As a team, I would say that the staff work well together and try their very best to accommodate the individual needs of the residents.
We are grateful for the end-of-life care Mum received. Staff were accommodating with Mum's needs, caring and friendly. Mum was unable to utilise the facilities as she was bedbound but Mum was made comfortable, pain-free and encouraged and assisted with food/drinks. As frequent visitors, we witnessed card and board games between residents/visitors and gatherings of people in the garden - it was nice, summery weather. Everyone we encountered, staff, residents and visitors, seemed to be happy. Barchester Leonard Lodge Care Home is a happy place. Well done all.
My mum has been at Leonard Lodge for the past nine months. The care and respect shown to both Mum and myself have been fantastic given my mum's previous experience in her former "home", which I would not prefix with the very important word "care". Mum is made very comfortable and recognises all the staff, with whom she responds positively. I could not wish for better peace of mind for her, and it is a great comfort to the family.
I could not ask or be happier for the care my mum receives at Barchester Leonard Lodge Care Home. All the staff, from the management to the laundry, are attentive and caring to every one of my mum's needs. They look after her so well and treat her with the caring dignity she deserves. Would I recommend this service provider to anyone else? Yes, 200%!
My wife has been very well looked after and is a happy resident of the care home. The staff are caring. considerate and understand the needs of residents and relatives.
I am extremely happy to visit my brother in this lovely home. Without exception, all the carers treat my brother and every other resident with kindness and respect. This allows all to regain their dignity, something so important to elderly people especially. They have lost their independence through age or infirmity after a lifetime of achievement and fruitful life. There are plenty of opportunities to engage with other residents during the weekly activity programme. In his own words, my brother says he feels safe here.
I have nothing but praise for the care my wife has from all staff. I thank you all for my wife's care for the last few months of her life.
I have found that the service, help and care my sister has received has been outstanding from all the staff without exception.
I have been a volunteer with the activities department at Leonard Lodge Care Home for two years so I have seen first-hand how well they care for and support the residents and their families day in and day out. The home is very comfortable and homely and it has a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff work tirelessly to provide a positive experience for all the residents and it’s a privilege to be a part of such a dedicated community of caregivers.
Very helpful caring staff.
