View Full Details of Uplands Rehabilitation CentreEveryone is very mannered and they cheer me up a lot. It took a long time to get used to having my leg off and all the staff were helpful and got me through this. So thank you Uplands, great place.
In April of this year (2024) I had my left hip replaced and as I live on my own and have no immediate family to look after me I felt it was necessary to be looked after in a care and rehabilitation centre for the period immediately after being discharged from the hospital. I felt that I needed care and physiotherapy rehabilitation services and looked for an appropriate care centre in the area that provided both these services. I searched extensively in the local area and much to my surprise the only centre that provided the services that I required was Uplands. I was discharged from hospital after four days and I went straight to Uplands. All the nursing staff were very friendly and I was looked after with great care and professionalism, receiving exactly the type of care for which I had hoped! In the same way, the physiotherapy care that I received was very professional and just what I required immediately after hip surgery! I was looked after wonderfully well and had a very enjoyable stay in Uplands.
We had to find a residential physio for an elderly relative further to a mutual month hospital stay. Uplands was extremely accommodating as we were performing due diligence and ensured that she had the necessary medical attention as well as physio. The stay was for 2 weeks and there was considerable improvement as a result of the stay that has set our relative up to be a little more independent and to move into the next stage of recovery.
My brother has been at Uplands for 10 months, it has been a difficult time for us and my brother. The staff have been so supportive my brother has made good progress. The physio rehab has been great, and the management and the staff have been very patient and kind. I have felt very humbled and supported as a family and for my brother. Just a big thank you to Upland.
I know my review is a little late but I want to add that my stay in Uplands Rehabilitation Centre was absolutely fine and I was well looked after during my stay there. It gave me the start on my road to recovery that I needed from brain surgery.
I was treated very well by all the staff, who were very kind and caring. Nothing was too much trouble. Physios were excellent, and my mobility and balance are vastly improved after my brain surgery. I cannot thank Uplands enough - an excellent facility!
Friendly team. Professional and polite. Overall, good food and excellent cooks. Treated with dignity and respect. Overall therapies give good input. However, these could be tailored to individuals showing progress.
I was here for eight weeks recovering from Guillain-Barré syndrome. The care I received was above and beyond. The nurses were professional and caring and you're encouraged to make your room a home from home. The physiotherapy team were amazing; encouraging, very professional and make you laugh. I went in there on a stretcher and when I left I was able to walk. I cannot thank them enough, when I was in hospital I had given up and they got my determination to recover back again. Thank you everyone.
The facilities and the care were excellent. The people working there are very friendly, caring and helpful, could not be better. My mother's rehabilitation has been extremely successful - a large part of which I put down to this centre and the people working there.
From most staff, I received great service. There could always be an improvement and since being home I’ve realised some areas which could get better quite easily. I can’t fault the physio staff, who worked with me to regain my strength.
Following a hip replacement I came to Uplands for two weeks. The care and attention were faultless. All the staff I.e nurses and care workers, kitchen staff, cleaners, physio dept and management could not do enough and nothing was too much. I am now in a much better place than when I came.
Almost instantly upon arrival at Uplands Rehabilitation Centre, after spinal surgery and a stay at Hospital, I immediately felt relaxed and one step closer to home. Being greeted by the friendly staff members, to being cared for and being shown respect and being treated with dignity. My stay here is the start of a long journey but I am so thankful that I found this facility. The physios have been amazing, encouraging me and pushing me to make progress. After being told I could be confined to a wheelchair, in three weeks I am standing, walking (to a fashion) with assistance on a frame. The meals are great quality as well as being nutritional and the alternative therapies are fun and encourage residents to interact. Rooms are good and kept very clean. Nothing is too much trouble. It is almost home from home.
I was sent to Uplands in January 2022 for eight weeks and I thought I was going to hate it. But after a day or two, I knew I was wrong about the place. I cannot say how wonderful those people are. I was totally paralysed and very frightened because I couldn't help myself, but the lovely staff made me feel good. I owe the staff everything and so do my family because, without them, I don't think I would be here. I am now walking with a frame, which is all down to them. Every single one of them, the night staff were great too and always made me laugh. The food was good and the best homemade cheesecake anywhere. Thank you everyone I will never forget you all.
All the staff are so friendly, helpful and patient. The food is great. A really caring place for recuperation.
Excellent physiotherapy.
I come here from hospital in August for 8 weeks. When I got there, I could not walk without a frame and with one, I was unsteady but by the end of my stay I could walk around unaided. I was still a little unsteady but it was night and day. The physio team are amazing and are very nice. I looked forward to every session. I also had a meeting every week with the neuro therapist and it was so very helpful. The whole team were incredible - so very kind and nice. I could not have wished to meet a nicer group of people. They have done so much for me and they helped me so much. I am so glad and grateful I got to meet this amazing, compassionate team.
I arrived at Uplands on 26th July 2022 after an extended hospital stay in Critical Care. Within seconds I was made to feel welcome and I relaxed for the first time in a very long time. I had been incredibly apprehensive about going there but all my fears were allayed. All of the staff were kind, friendly and treated me as an individual. My room was lovely and I was helped to unpack, as I was unable to do it for myself. The next morning I met the physiotherapy team. I was unable to stand, walk, feed myself or do any personal care independently at this point. After 8 weeks of intense physiotherapy with an incredible team, I am able to do so much more independently. The team helped me to regain my dignity, confidence and a lot of my independence. The food at Uplands was fantastic, and even when halfway through my stay I was told I had to follow a gluten-free diet this was no problem at all. If you are offered the opportunity to have rehabilitation at Uplands, take it!
The staff were always happy, professional, willing and able to help. Communication was excellent. My father has a stroke, so this was key. My father received physio, speech and language therapy and medical care. All superb.
Extremely helpful staff, stretching and pulling of physiotherapy has helped in enabling me to walk better. Only criticism was food was sometimes served cold. Very helpful staff when getting dressed etc.
My wife was transferred to Uplands from the hospital on 31/01/2022 supposed for a week or so pending a place at a category one NHS rehabilitation unit. Because of delays in the system, this stay was extended to over three months. Throughout this period, she received friendly care from all the staff, who did their best to feel at home as comfortable as possible, giving her impairment and retaining her dignity, which is so important to her mental health. From time to time during her stay, various members of staff went beyond the basic requirements of their jobs to keep up her spirits. This culminated in the Uplands receptionist taking her to her next destination in her own car when organised transport did not turn up. I think this characterises the ethos which prevails in the home. A very big thank you to all.
