View Full Details of Birchy Hill Care HomeMy wife came to Birchy Hill after an operation and aftercare. She has been treated with kindness and dignity by all of the helpful and caring staff. The nurses oversee her medical requirements and the food choices are very good. There is an excellent range of activities each day, which the residents look forward to and the staff sometimes join in, run by an enthusiastic events manager. The gardens are well maintained and much enjoyed when the weather allows. Birchy has its own coach which is used to take residents on outings, to keep in touch with the wider world. Again much enjoyed. The library has a wide range of books etc. which I have used to entertain my wife and residents use frequently. It's always a pleasure to visit and there are lots of options for us to choose to do. You should visit, you might be surprised.
My 66-year-old husband has early-onset Alzheimer's and needed to go into residential care as I was struggling to meet his needs at home. All the lovely staff contributed to making this huge and upsetting decision run as smoothly as possible. The efficient handymen ensured my husband's room was freshly painted, with our pictures put up exactly where we'd asked for them. All the hard-working staff are friendly, welcoming friends and family alike. The staff closely involved in my husband's care show a genuine interest in him as a person and ask us about his likes and dislikes to ensure they make him as happy as possible. Any issues are quickly resolved, e.g. a broken lamp was promptly replaced. The activities team excelled themselves leading up to Christmas, creating a fun-filled atmosphere. (The busy staff even found time to join in.) The admin lady is a 'font of all knowledge' and has been quietly wonderful and an essential part in helping our family cope with this huge change in our lives.
We wanted to say a big thank you to the staff at the home for going above and beyond to make our mum's birthday lunch a great success and a lovely celebration of her life. We couldn't ask for better care for our mum and the home is just great and the activities that they do with all the residents are just amazing.
Birchy Hill Care Home is a home from home for me and my family and we enjoy every visit knowing that all of the staff go above and beyond to care of their patients as well as visitors. The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming with so many occasions celebrated that there is always something to get involved with or learn from. I trust Birchy Hill with my loved one implicitly and find peace in the fact that I am included in their care plan and regularly updated if I am unable to visit for a couple of days. My whole family are forever grateful that we found Birchy Hill and are confident to recommend their outstanding care and facilities to anyone who enquires.
My husband has been a resident in Birchy Hill Care Home for the last 19 months, having previously had four unsuccessful placements in other homes. He is now happy and contentedly settled in the wonderful and caring environment of Birchy Hill. The care and nursing staff are without exception wonderful, so kind, patient and understanding, taking time to know each resident and their individual needs, nothing is ever too much trouble. They also readily offer support and understanding to relatives. Birchy has a wonderful and extremely varied programe of entertainment organised by a dedicated team of ladies full of enthusiasm, who also interact and know all residents. The meals are home-cooked and well-balanced all overseen by the head chef. Everyone contributes to the happy and friendly atmosphere, from the manager (who visits each resident daily) to the cleaning team, the maintenance and groundsmen, all greeting the residents and visitors whilst keeping everything immaculate. Thank you all so much.
From the moment my mother went into your home she has had excellent care. Everyone is so kind and friendly. It's a big happy family that I feel part of. My mum has been with you since 2019 and all has been so good.
All staff are caring and dedicated to the welfare of their patients. The staff are professional and courteous at all times and have great skill as they complete their various roles. The gentleness, patience, good humour and kindness of staff have been evident over a course of fourteen years of looking after our mother. At all times, intimate care has been undertaken with great respect and dignity for our mother on a daily basis - a really almost angelic service. The kitchen staff have provided good, wholesome food and when needed, have taken the time and trouble to puree food or provide alternatives if needed. Amazing all round.
Birchy Hill Care Home have looked after my husband for one year. I am very happy with the care provided. I find the staff caring and sensitive to his needs. They are also very positive and caring towards myself and my family. The atmosphere is stimulating and the activities are varied.
My friend is well looked after. Treated with kindness and tenderness. Always kept clean and tidy and loved by all.
We cannot sing the manager and his entire team's praises enough for the excellent care they provide to our mother! Every aspect of her physical care and well being is delivered with genuine sincerity and consistency. Their communication to us is excellent and always with Granny's best interest. The environment is outstanding - clean, warm and welcoming. We visit Granny often and are always made to feel welcome by the team. The team members in her community are consistent which is so important - they all know Granny and her needs and they all know us! Granny has had a tough couple of years settling in other care homes for various reasons and it is with our gratitude to the manager and his team at Birchy Hill for the genuine care and support they give to us all. Birchy Hill Care Home is the example that every nursing and care home provider should strive to be like. Thank you for all you do!
The "Christmas extravaganza" programme of activities has been exceptionally well-organised with a wonderful mix of parties, concerts, carol singing, pantomime, a nativity performance and much more. Frequent visits from outside groups, including Beavers, the church, college, not to mention regularly appearing musicians, have sometimes made Birchy Hill Care Home feel more like a theatre/entertainment centre than a care home. The "leisure and lifestyle" team have done an exceptional job throughout the year in creating a happy atmosphere but this Christmas season they have gone above and beyond their normal range of activities. Thank you to three members of staff, in particular, for being the icing on the cake that is Birchy Hill. Enormous thanks to all the staff who have cared for my wife so well throughout 2024. I wish you all a very Happy Christmas!
There is always a friendly smile and welcoming. Everyone is great, right down to maintenance. It creates a family atmosphere which is needed for the residents. Catering is fantastic, plenty of choice and caters for the individual. If they haven't got it, will go out and get it. Cannot speak highly enough of this home. The grounds are lovely and well-maintained too. Staff are exceptional I have found.
The care home has just put on a wonderful Christmas party for all the residents and they went over and above with all their hard work. This is not a one-off, the staff always give their very best. Always smiling and understanding well the needs of all the residents and are caring and kind to all the visitors. Every time I visit, the same show of attention and affection never ceases to amaze me. My mother is extremely well looked after and all her needs are well met, she feels loved and is always happy.
My mum has been living in this home for a number of years. She is very much at home here. The staff are always friendly and look after her needs really well. It is a happy homely place and I would highly recommend it for any loved one. They have a full programme of activities and where possible involve all residents. I would like to thank all the amazing staff for my mum's ongoing care.
My mum was very well cared for by all the staff. She was very happy there and that was a great comfort to us. Their kindness and dedication was endless. Thank you to you all for making my mum's final days comfortable.
For any in need of care, Birchy Hill Care Home is the place to be - safe and cosy, with plenty of activities and staffed entirely by naturally charming and caring people. My elderly wife has dementia and has been resident there for five years - she doesn't understand her situation and her words are unclear but she still commonly giggles at any attention - a clear sign she's quite happy at Birchy Hill.
I have just attended the annual Christmas party for residents and family members. It was fantastic as always. Staff are so attentive bringing drinks and asking if we all need anything. The entertainment is brilliant, the atmosphere is magical and the food served is amazing! Such a lovely atmosphere for my mum and all the residents here. Birchy Hill goes above and beyond with all activities and events, celebrating every day and anniversary there is. A fantastic place.
I go to Birchy Hill Care Home a lot and the staff are always happy, nice, polite and helpful. And I enjoy helping and being Father Christmas at Christmas at Birchy Hill. I can rest easy knowing my best mate is being well looked after as there are a lot of bad care homes around but not Birchy Hill, keep doing what you do and more.
Excellent communication from the nurse at Birchy Hill. She has kept me informed about my father's condition even though it was not serious, but the updates are much appreciated. The care staff are all very good and make the care home very comfortable.
A different review, but one that needs to be told. Following discussion with the home, GP and myself, it was evident Dad’s health was deteriorating. As his daughter and POA, I made the decision for his end-of-life care to be at Birchy Hill. Dad passed with me at his side. During the transition, the staff did all they could to make Dad comfortable. He was treated with respect and kindness, whilst also looking after me, exhausted and emotional. During this time, I was touched by staff popping in to see how Dad was. Dad’s care was passed onto the funeral directors with dignity and compassion. He left his home for the last time by the front door, with music playing, and an entrance hall lined by those who had looked after him. One final goodbye. Dementia is a long, hard and emotional road for all involved. Thank you Birchy Hill for walking the last part of this journey with us, for allowing me to be a daughter again and for some final happy memories with my dad, which I will cherish.
