View Full Details of Canford Manor Nursing HomeWhen looking for a care home for Dad, almost a year ago, he was not necessarily requiring a full nursing home/care but Canford Manor was highly recommended and a room was available. We are so pleased we chose this home as it is such a happy home both to reside and to visit. The staff and management offer excellent care and seeing a decline in Dads dementia/confusion over the year we know he is in safe and kind hands. He enjoys the options offered for afternoon activities his favourite being the music events where he soon finds his rhythm and is up dancing and looks forward to meeting up with his friends at the men's lunch table. Dad is well established now and we feel is future proofed for any nursing needs he will require ahead. He is coming up for 97yrs and plans to make 100yrs which I am sure will happen..
My mum had a fall last February and after a stay in hospital, she was not allowed to go back home alone due to delirium. She has now been a resident at Canford Manor for a year and she couldn't be getting better care. All of the staff including the management team are understanding and really appear to be caring and empathetic. They make the residents feel at home and have lots of activities to keep everyone busy. My mum will not be able to live alone again, but we know she is well looked after and we are always welcome to visit her and enjoy the activities or to have a cup of tea and a biscuit.
I cannot thank the staff enough for just how much they ensured my wife was cared for whilst a permanent resident. The whole staff team from the manager down was absolutely excellent in all aspects - courteous, caring, and professional at all times. I am so glad that I have done my research and found this home. Well-led and managed this home ticked every box required for my mixed dementia-suffering wife's nursing and care needs to ensure she was looked after and safe.
When my husband could no longer continue end-of-life care at home, I was distressed and so worried about him having to go into a nursing home. My fears were completely unfounded. Sadly he only lived for another 10 days, but the care and empathy he received at Canford Manor, by every single member of staff was exceptional. Despite the circumstances, it was such a happy place, an absolute home from home, my husband was kept comfortable and out of pain, something that was proving impossible at home. I cannot thank them enough for their kindness and support. We were treated like part of a big loving family. They even organised a bed in my husband's room for the final days and I was able to be with him, holding his hand when he took his last breath. Something I will be forever grateful for. This home is exceptional, I cannot recommend it enough.
The staff from the manager, administrator, nurses, carers, cleaners, and facilities staff were all very welcoming right from the start. Nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately, Mum was only at the nursing home for 3 months, after being discharged from the hospital for end-of-life care. Mum was always treated with care and dignity and her last months were made as comfortable as possible. The family was supported through a very difficult time.
My mother has been in Canford since Oct 2023 and she has been excellently looked after. Mum could be difficult to understand and handle at times due to her medical condition but the staff made her feel relaxed and at home. Mums end of life care was expertly carried out and gave her a dignified death.
My father was a resident from October 2023 to March 2024. He had resisted entering for a long time but realised that his frailty meant he could no longer provide for himself at home. The home completely understood his stance but made him welcome and gave him time to adjust. All the staff at the home were incredibly kind and caring. I visited him often each week and he was always clean, well-fed, content with the team gently encouraging him to join in the activities. I can't praise the manager and her team enough.
My mother was staying at Canford Manor for 12 weeks after a fall and a short stay in hospital. Canford made the last few months of her life much more enjoyable as she was lonely at home. The care she received was excellent and she made some lovely friends. I cannot thank the home enough for the love and support given to Mum, my brother, and me as she slipped away and took her final breath.
My mum always told us if we ever put her in a home she’d come back and ‘haunt us’. However following a serious fall and failed discharge home, she agreed to go to Canford for rehab. Imagine our surprise when she announced to us she didn’t want to go home. She wanted to stay there! The care home is lovely, with a warm homely feel to it. It’s not plush like some homes, but the quality of the care she received from the staff was superb. It’s the staff who make Canford so special. They know their residents and treat them with respect, dignity and love. There are plenty of activities, trips out and residents are encouraged to get involved. Mum loved it and enjoyed banter with the staff. They were like an extended family to her. Sadly we lost Mum on Valentine’s Day after a short illness. The manager went to see her in the hospital and she and another lady washed Mum and made her comfortable, which was so touching. They pulled out all the stops to get her home to die and cared for Mum and us with love and kindness.
Canford Manor and its staff have dispelled all the 'horror stories' that I have heard about adult care. I cannot express fully the care that my mum received, with staff who were full of joy and love. I knew that I did not have to worry about Mum from the minute that she moved in from the hospital. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I would like to thank Canford Manor and all the staff and volunteers who made my mum's stay as pleasant as possible in the short time she was there. I myself would like to say how helpful the staff were in any way and always a joy to talk to.
My aunt was cared for at Canford for 5 months, teh staff were all wonderful to her, very friendly and helped her settle in from day one she was treated with dignity and understanding. Her ground floor room was lovely and bright and well maintained. Her medical care was excellent and she felt the staff really cared about her wellbeing. The food was very nice, homemade and bespoke to her needs. I'm so grateful to her 'Canford family' for making her so welcome and for the excellent care they gave her. Canford really is a special home.
I could not have wished for a better place for my ninety-one year old father to spend his last six months of life. The care was superb from all staff. The family were included and cared for as well. Could find not fault. Excellent.
I would just like to say my mum has now been at Canford Manor for just over 3 years and I can’t rate this care home highly enough. The staff are amazing and I’ve found everyone I’ve spoken to and asked for help and advice will go out of their way to do everything they can to comfort my mum and ease my fears and concerns I have had regarding her care. She is happy and safe and being looked after amazingly and at Canford Manor it’s like she is part of one big happy family. I know she’s in the best place for her needs and I have no hesitation in recommending this home to everyone who is looking to put their loved one in an outstanding care home.
Excellent care all-round. Staff are lovely. Nothing is too much trouble. Managers are very approachable. Communication is excellent. Meetings are held with residents and also relatives regularly. Always prepared to listen to problems/issues, no matter how small, and rectify or find solutions. Always looking at ways to enhance the resident's experience of being there with activities and entertainment. The food is good. After staying for respite care, Mum decided she wanted to stay, as she felt very well cared for, safe and, most importantly, happy.
The service, facilities and staff cannot be any better. A quality home, sympathetic to people's needs.
My mum was a resident of Canford Manor Nursing Home for just over 2 Years. During that time, throughout Covid, she was cared for with great kindness and dedication. This was particularly apparent during her last days. Not only did the staff, whatever their role, look after and care for her, but they did the same for her daughters too. We could not have been in a kinder place in which to spend our last days and hours with Mum. I cannot praise the staff enough. The care was exemplary. Mum could not have been in a better place. I would recommend Canford Manor to anyone who is looking for somewhere for their relative to be treated with kindness and respect.
My mum, who has recently died at the age of 98, was a resident at Canford Manor for two years. Throughout her time there, the care she received was excellent. The staff are all so kind and caring, whatever their role is and build wonderful relationships with the residents and their relatives. The facilities are excellent, and the staff work hard to keep the residents active and stimulated. During Covid and lockdown, they did everything possible to keep the residents in contact with their relatives and to allow visitors in at the first opportunity. The kindness shown to those of us visiting Mum towards the end of her life was amazing; the staff cared for us as well as Mum, something we will always be grateful for. I would recommend Canford Manor as an excellent nursing care home.
Very impressed with the staff who are attentive and friendly and don’t talk down to residents. Great staff continuity. Rooms are a reasonable size and have large windows that open. The care home smells like a normal home, which is very good and also unusual.
My mother has resided at Canford Manor Care Home for two years now, through thick and thin, Covid included. I cannot fault the cheerful, professional staff or the facilities and my mother has been cared for to the highest standards. Highly recommended to anyone looking for residential care.
