I want to say what a wonderful place the Carleen Nursing Home is. Though my Dad was only there for two weeks the staff were amazing, giving him dignity and respectful care that you also extended to our family during his last days. For which we will be forever grateful. Thank you.
Mum moved into Carleen Nursing home in August 2024, after a long stay in hospital. This was something that mum was always dreading, having to leave her home and life she knew, but due to her complex medical and mobility issues, sadly, it had to be. From the moment mum moved in, she was greeted with smiling faces, respect and kindness, as were the rest of the family. Mum has adjusted so well into the home, she is included in daily activities in the lounge and making new friends with residents and the amazing staff, who she adores. It was mum's birthday recently and the staff gave her such a lovely day, which was very unexpected and appreciated. Mum now sees Carleen as her home and I wouldn't want her to be anywhere else, a wonderful place!
I cannot explain how truly grateful I am to all the staff at Carleen. My mother moved to Carleen in February. The kindness and care given by the staff to Mum is exceptional. Unfortunately Mum has dementia, which has made Mum aggressive verbally and physically. The staff's care always has mum best interest. I hear the way they talk to the residents. With care and compassion. For the first time in 5 years, I feel relaxed and have no worries about Mum. I don't feel the guilt because I know she's being cared for.
We have just experienced the saddest of times, my ex-husband was admitted to Carleen Care Home for end-of-life care at 63 years old, so he wasn't the normal age of residents. He had his own room with no en-suite and to be honest, it was quite tatty, but this was irrelevant to him and to us and anyone who visited. He received the best of care, he was there for almost 6 weeks before he died surrounded by his children. We were all treated with the utmost respect during these very difficult final few hours. We can’t thank the carers (especially the nurse in charge) who were all so kind to us. Thank you so much for your exceptional care and kindness.
My mother has been at Carleen for almost 3 months following a hospital admission. She had been really poorly and almost died. She has been lovingly nursed and cared for. Carleen works closely with the GP from Westlands and this interaction and weekly visit has contributed significantly to her improvement. She has a complex medical history - having a health team working with her who share our desire to focus on quality of life rather than over-medicating has made a significant impact on her and us as a family being able to enjoy what time we have left with her. Every member of Carleen's team, clinical, care and ancillary staff all share the same ethos of care and compassion. Thank you.
My wife moved into the home in March 2021. She is well settled and feels like it’s her home, she is very happy and has built some great friendships within the home with staff and service users. The staff are very attentive and her needs are very well attended to. As her husband, I’m kept well informed of any changes or needs, the communication from care staff and nurses is outstanding. There are more expensive homes in and around the area but the level of care and attention is not there. The home holds events where all the families and friends can attend. Carleen’s mission statement is a true reflection of the care my wife receives.
My dearest mum went into Carleen Care Home in 2019 with dementia. The nurses carers and cleaners always made my mum feel like it was her home and family. I as a son was very close to my mum and felt comfortable with the loving care she received, I cannot recommend Carleen enough and a big big thank you. Mum passed away in January 2024.
My mum was discharged from hospital into a care home which my brother and I deemed unsuitable and therefore we decided to move her. We visited many care homes but were immediately impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of the staff at Carleen. There are care homes with more extensive and modern facilities but with my mum having severe dementia the main priority was to get her into the care of staff who really cared and this is what Carleen delivered. Being a nursing home it really helped to have medical staff who were fully alert to my mother's needs, able to liaise effectively with the GP/hospital and accompany her to appointments. Carleen staff were always quick to keep us informed of any issue or potential issue. All staff regardless of role or rank were always very welcoming of visitors. My brother and I are very grateful that Carleen made my mum's last 15 months so peaceful and comfortable. The quality of the staff alone gives me no hesitation in recommending Carleen.
Sadly, my mother-in-law passed away in October, having been in Carleen for about 18 months, but I am pleased and relieved that she was in Carleen when the end came. We'd been through the mill with social services insisting that she was capable of 'independent living' (never the case) resulting in her placement in a variety of completely unsuitable locations with variable quality support. In the last such place, she broke her leg after a fall and the powers that be finally accepted that she would need nursing care. Thank heavens we landed up in Carleen - indeed I wish we'd got her in there much earlier. Carleen is extremely well managed and led, and the staff are incredibly professional, hard-working and courteous and above all, they genuinely seem to care about the residents (two staff members attended the funeral). Rooms are spotlessly clean and relatives are always made welcome. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Carleen.
My mother moved into Carleen Nursing home in September 2022 after a 7 month stay in hospital left her requiring a high level of support and care. Carleen is extremely well managed and led, and the staff are incredibly professional, hard working and courteous. Any concerns or queries are dealt with swiftly and nothing is too much trouble. The staff strive to ensure that the residents remain active and a range of activities are offered in order to stimulate them. Occasions such as Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter are celebrated enthusiastically and relatives are always welcome to join in with such celebrations. There is an extensive menu on offer for meal times and residents’ individual diets are well catered for. Moving a loved one into a nursing home is a hugely significant and emotional step, and I’m so pleased that we chose Carleen for my mother’s next chapter.
We moved my mother-in-law from another home after poor care. She couldn't stand, she was hunched over, couldn't move her arms after breaking one in a fall, meaning she couldn't feed herself, this she found degrading. Since moving her to Carleen Care Home that has all changed within a month. They do armchair exercises everyday (residents chose) this has made such an improvement to her, she's now feeding herself and sitting upright. The staff do regular physio with her legs to a point she's trying to stand. The staff are so attentive to all residents that the can spot the slightest change like water infection and medication is given within hours not days. She lost a lot of weight due to poor food in the other place but that's changed, she loves the food so much she sometimes gets two puddings and has gained weight. The chef definitely knows his stuff! My husband and I are always amazed at how well she's doing now she got the correct care and that's down to the caring staff. Thank you!
My father was given an end-of-life diagnosis in November 2021. He would not get out of bed for his carers in his own home and had almost given up eating. He then needed twenty-four-hour care and was moved into Carleen Care Home. He was given a room which looks onto a small garden, which he loves. The change in him has been incredible since then. He looks forward to getting out of bed and going to the lounge. He now eats his meals, even though they have to be pureed. After lunch, he spends the afternoon in the lounge enjoying the activities that are provided and is often the last one to leave before bedtime. As a family, we cannot thank the manager and staff enough for everything that they have done for him. We would highly recommend Carleen for anyone looking for a caring home for their loved one.
Our sister spent only one night at Carleen Care Home but that was enough fur us to see the genuine kindness and superb care that was provided. My sister was given an amazing room with her own door into the garden. Our only regret was that my sister wasn't there long enough to experience the care, ambience and wonderful facilities.
Mum was in Carleen Nursing Home for just over two years and was made to feel at home the moment she went in there by a reassuring, happy and smiling carer. All the nurses, carers and staff are extremely professional, very warm and caring, nothing being too much trouble and often going over and above what is expected of them. Mum's Alzheimer's sometimes made her a bit difficult to deal with but she was always treated with the utmost kindness and dignity. She would love it when the staff would pop into her room and have a little chat with her. There are always activities going on, exercise sessions and sometimes musical entertainment. The activity lady in charge is so good, always making everyone feel included and special. The food and laundry services provided are very good and Mum's room was always impeccably clean as were the communal areas of the home. Mum has now sadly passed away but I always knew that she was safe and well cared for in Carleen and that gave me great peace of mind. I am so grateful to the manager and her lovely staff for all they did for Mum. Thank you all so much.
My mother stayed in Carleen Nursing Home for ‘end of life’ care for five weeks (after leaving hospital) and my father and our family cannot speak highly enough of the care she received there. The nursing staff were wonderful - all very warm, caring professionals who took the greatest care of Mum, ensuring she was comfortable and treating her with respect, compassion and like the real person she was. The whole team at Carleen were absolutely lovely - everyone from the nursing staff to the catering, social activities, laundry and cleaning staff were so kind, helpful and a pleasure to deal with. They all made a difficult, emotional time much easier for us and they were also kind and considerate to my father who visited Mum every day and supported him too. We are very happy that Mum was so well looked after at Carleen during her time there and don’t feel we could have found a better home. We would highly recommend Carleen Care Home to anyone.
I had to place my wife into a nursing home because it was no longer safe for me to look after her at home. She needed 24/7 nursing care. I did this in March 2020, the day before the first lockdown started. I was, therefore, unable to visit her for a long time and so ease her into her new life and surroundings. Despite this difficult start, I always felt that the staff at Carleen were taking good care of her and kept me informed of her situation at all times. My good impressions were more than confirmed when, subsequently, I was able to visit her. Since then, I have found nothing but love and care for her from every member of staff, from administrators, nurses, carers, cleaners and even the lady that delivers her laundry. Everywhere is spotlessly clean, the interior decoration and furnishings are all in excellent order. She has difficulty eating but, with careful selection and preparation of food and drink, and great patience on the part of her carers, she gets just enough.
My mother was transferred to Carleen Care Home from a hospice on 22/11/21 for end of life care. Ironically while she was at Carleen her health almost seemed to improve, despite her prognosis, and at the end of January she was reunited with my dad and they both now reside in the same care home which is much closer to their family. However, had circumstances been different I would have loved Mum to have stayed at Carleen where she considered all the staff and carers to be friends. I don’t believe the care she was afforded could have been bettered. The manager runs a wonderful facility with an amazing team of staff. I cannot fault Carleen and I know that my mum was very sorry to leave there.
Mum was discharged from hospital with a terminal brain tumour for end of life care and sadly passed away two days after being discharged to Carleen Care Home. We were unsure as to how long Mum would be with the team but believed it to be weeks or months rather than days. From the moment she arrived the team were incredible and cared for her with the utmost kindness, respect and compassion. She was warm, comfortable and calm and the team went out of their way to help us all deal with the situation as things unfolded. As a family, we spent the weekend at the home as Mum's condition deteriorated quickly but the team were fantastic with us too, supporting us through what was an emotionally difficult time too. They encouraged us to talk to Mum, share stories, hold her hand and help to keep her calm. The care Mum received could not be faulted and the team at Carleen completely exceeded our expectations on every level. A fantastic team of wonderful, caring people. They were simply fabulous.
My mother has been a resident at Carleen Care Home these last eighteen months and is comfortable and content. The home is warm and friendly. Staff are kind and helpful. Carleen staff have done a great job at keeping residents - and themselves - safe during the pandemic. I can recommend wholeheartedly.
My aunt has been in Carleen for nearly four years. When she arrived her husband was with her, he was the reason for having to find accommodation due to care needs. From the moment they arrived they felt loved and cared for, nothing was too much trouble. There was so much going on, entertainment, activities everyday which my aunt loves. The manager and her team have been fantastic through the pandemic, and have kept our loved ones very safe and well. We are able to Skype our aunt, have visits in a pod to keep them safe, and I have now had actual visits face to face with her with PPE and social distancing. Thank you to the manager and all the staff for making our aunt feel so loved and cared for, as she tells me each time we speak, we could not have found her a better place, she has no problems and everyone is so kind. We would recommend this home to everyone.
