View Full Details of Barchester Flowerdown Care HomeMy aunt has been in Barchester Flowerdown Care Home since August 2024. She was apprehensive of going into care at first but has quickly settled there and is very happy with her new life. The staff are all friendly, polite and helpful, from the carers, nurses, housekeeping team, reception and catering staff. There are so many activities taking place daily to keep the residents occupied and my aunt enjoys taking part and making new friends. I really can't fault anything and particularly, like the relaxed, homely feel of Flowerdown with its comfortable surroundings and lovely gardens. I think the general manager has got it just right and it is evident the staff take pride in their work and look after the residents to a very high standard.
Fantastic environment since the refurbishment and excellent care provided. The staff are kind and very supportive. Low staff turnover which is essential to high care quality. My husband is very happy there.
The staff are fantastic, very friendly, caring and approachable. The managers and the team are doing a great job of looking after dad, I cannot praise Barchester Flowerdown Care Home highly enough. The home is beautiful, the food is excellent and the staff are absolutely committed to providing the best care possible for the residents. It's clean and well organized and staff are always available to assist when needed. We have peace of mind knowing that dad is in a safe and caring environment.
Good nursing care at all times. All nurses are excellent, kind and helpful, also nothing too much trouble for all care staff. Lovely surroundings, garden beautiful and well cared for. The dining room and food is top quality, restaurant standard. Visitors welcome.
Barchester Flowerdown Care Home have always treated my aunt with tenderness and kindness. She called them her second family. The staff were always very supportive to me and my family. My aunt was always consulted about her care. The home has always felt very welcoming. In her final weeks the care was excellent. We never had to worry about her, as she was so happy there.
Just been to the open day at Barchester Flowerdown Care Home this morning. A big thank you to all the staff for your hard work and kindness. Just to say you cannot improve on perfection. Such high standards.
My partner has been made comfortable in his room by all the staff, from nurses to cleaners. He even had cake and a song from the staff. Room is clean and comfortable. I wish he had come here sooner. Palliative care is sensitively offered.
My father was in palliative care at Flowerdown Care Home. We were blown away by the level of care, kindness and support from all the staff towards our father and our whole family. We are so thankful and grateful to all the staff for enabling our father to have a dignified end-of-life experience.
I would like to thank all the staff at Barchester Flowerdown Care Home for all the care they gave my husband during his final weeks on this earth. They treated us with great respect during this very sad and difficult time.
My mum spent the last 4 years of her life at Flowerdown. I cannot thank every member of staff enough for the kindness, love and care shown to my mum during her time there. While living at Flowerdown she deteriorated due to the increased severity of her dementia. She was always treated with dignity and care. The nurse manager leads a team of excellent nursing staff who are first-rate at dealing with residents' medical needs and keeping families informed of issues. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming. After a much-needed refurbishment, Flowerdown has been transformed. The rooms and reception areas are equal to a high-class hotel. Until the day my mum passed away, I always knew she was safe and cared for to the highest standards. I have no hesitation in recommending Flowerdown to care for loved ones.
We have recently moved my dad to Flowerdown as we needed urgent respite care with a view to making this a permanent move. I rang several other care homes that could either not accommodate respite care or could not meet his care needs. From my first contact via telephone, I was immediately put at ease when an invitation for me to visit Flowerdown seemed more important to the staff than going through a long list of care needs. I was welcomed from the very first time I walked through the door and was hugely impressed not only by the surroundings but also by how friendly everyone was. I was invited to visit again with my dad the following day and he too was welcomed by everyone. Our questions were answered, what we could expect from Flowerdown was made clear to us and we knew we need not look any further for the 'right' care home. My dad moved in 3 days later and he, as well as his family and friends, have felt welcomed as part of the Flowerdown family. Thank you to everyone for welcoming us.
I cannot begin to put into words how amazing this care home is. My mum spent the last three years of her life being cared for, respected and treated as one of the family - as I was! She passed away in October - peacefully and in no pain and all down to the care she received. It is a wonderful place.
From the moment my wife was admitted, we have been completely satisfied with her residence at Barchester Flowerdown Care Home - it is akin to a smart hotel and no aspect of my wife's care is neglected. It is such a relief to know that she is being cared for so capably. I can be away (available on the phone of course!) with complete confidence. Without exception, the staff and attendants have been so caring and professional in her care. We would be so happy if my wife's remaining days could be at Flowerdown.
Given that the entry into this Care Home is recent and the renovation is ongoing our ratings have been influenced by it. The Care Home is being renovated which necessitated to move my mother-in-law from her initial room to a totally renovated one. The new room presents very well indeed. The move was planned for 9 am on 17/9/2023. Pre-packing assistance of personal items was available prior to this date. The move worked on time and with excellent support during the actual move to the new room. The General Manager was actively involved in leading and implementing the move and was leading by example. In general, the manager is very approachable and helpful in dealing with client's requests speedily.
This was a real lifesaver for me as Mum's care became more challenging prior to her coming to Barchester Flowerdown Care Home for respite care. Mum was well cared for by an attentive care team and her health improved substantially. I will be forever grateful.
The senior staff and nurses were very solicitous and helpful during my mother's stay at the home. They were understanding and responsive which was a godsend as my mother has limited English. The day-to-day staff were also magnificent, of course, some outshone others but overall very compassionate and caring. The home itself is undergoing much-needed modernisation which will increase its attractiveness to its targeted audience.
Since my father arrived at Flowerdown he has had excellent care. From the first day he arrived, everyone was friendly and welcoming and the home is clean and homely. He receives very good care and attention from the carers and is encouraged to be involved as much as he can. The home is very responsive when his needs change and are good at updating the family on any developments. There are plenty of activities to join in with and a beautiful garden to enjoy.
My mother has been a resident for nearly four years at Flowerdown Care Home. Activities were very well organised when Mum first came to Flowredown. The care staff and managers were always kind and friendly. I felt confident she was well cared for particularly as she lost the ability to walk. Food always looked and smelt good. My only disappointment was not being informed about the Xmas party-her last Xmas party.
We found the home to be very caring and understanding. The short period my friend who was there was treated with dignity in every aspect.
Our mother recently came to Flowerdown Care Home for assessment after a prolonged stay in the hospital. In the final week of her life, we could not have wished for her to be in a more caring environment with excellent staff, particularly the care assistant and the registered nurse, supporting her. As her family, we were treated with respect and great kindness by all the staff.
